THE second day of long course meter preliminary swimming concluded at the CeraVe Invitational hosted by the Berkeley Aquatic Club on the campus of Rutgers University. <\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s 400 IM<br \/>\nAGUA&#8217;s Annie Zhu topped all qualifiers with a time of 4:56.47 in the distance medley with superstar Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish easing in with a second-place time of 4:56.66. Delaware&#8217;s Nicole Vernon (4:57.13) and Germantown&#8217;s Kacie Ciampoli (5:06.36) took third and fourth. <\/p>\n<p>Bluefish&#8217;s Anna Senko (5:06.93), Bluefish&#8217;s Gabrielle Shishkoff (5:07.88), Germantown&#8217;s Bridget Casey (5:08.24) and Germantown&#8217;s Madeline Maher (5:09.46) completed the A final field. <\/p>\n<p>Rachel Kessler (5:10.69), Victoria Cassidy (5:11.76), Kaitlyn Jones (5:11.90), Biana Spinazzola (5:12.70), Kristine Ng (5:13.34), Lauren Ross (5:17.09), Mariel Kush (5:17.26) and Adrienne Groccia (5:17.87) made up the B final. <\/p>\n<p>Kelly Johanson (5:18.62), Isla Hutchinson-Maddox (5:18.65), Annie Nunes (5:19.99), Stephanie Ng (5:20.10), Megan Zarriello (5:20.18), Grace Senko (5:20.37), Daniela Rueda (5:20.67) and Courtney Patterson (5:20.84) comprised the field for the C final. <\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<br \/>\nLong Island&#8217;s Sean Sullivan led the way in the men&#8217;s distance medley with a 4:41.09. Badger&#8217;s Alex Gianino qualified second in 4:41.23, while Delaware&#8217;s Eric Materniak took third in 4:41.55. <\/p>\n<p>Suburban&#8217;s Ian Clark (4:42.44), Germantown&#8217;s Justin Tang (4:44.32), Jersey Wahoo Patrick Olson (4:45.15), Germantown&#8217;s Jimmy McEldrew (4:46.38) and Scarlet&#8217;s Chris Cipolla (4:46.78) rounded out the championship heat. <\/p>\n<p>Rob Power (4:47.01), Clifton Gordon (4:47.81), Matt Belecanech (4:48.36), Jeffrey Thomas (4:48.57), Erik Heinemann (4:48.73), Pat Myers (4:49.35), Sean Minderlein (4:49.38) and Will Rappaport (4:49.93) earned spots in the consolation heat. <\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Derlath (4:50.59), Arthur Frayler (4:50.68), Paul Nolle (4:50.88), Michael Lennon (4:51.62), Kevin Hughes (4:52.93), Bobby Hilzen (4:53.61), Samuel Ho (4:54.31) and Owen Burns (4:55.37) garnered the bonus heat transfer slots. <\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s 50 free<br \/>\nBluefish&#8217;s Alex Frasier earned the top seed with a 27.76 in the splash-and-dash, while AGUA&#8217;s Lia Neal, 14, slipped on the start to wind up second in 28.05. Neal will likely be gunning for Missy Franklin&#8217;s 2009 National Age Group record for 13-14 year olds in the event this evening. Long Island&#8217;s Emily Kelly took third in 28.06, while Peddie&#8217;s Kendese Nangle placed fourth in 28.23. <\/p>\n<p>Long Island&#8217;s Julia Festa (28.26), Bluefish&#8217;s Clarissa Palmer (28.37) and Somerset Valley&#8217;s Mara Valenzuela (28.41) qualified fifth through seventh. Bluefish&#8217;s Bianca Spinazzola and AGUA&#8217;s Danielle Sims set up a potential swimoff with a pair of matching 28.45s to tie for eighth. <\/p>\n<p>Christie Hurley (28.46), Emma Lamothe (28.49), Annie Nunes (28.51), Laura Flewelling (28.52), Morgan Karetnick (28.60), Kelly Covey (28.70) and Jacqueline Parker (28.74) earned the other consolation heat lanes. <\/p>\n<p>Meghan Kiely (28.75), Rebecca Delafuente (28.81), Katelin Cornetta (28.87), Bernadette D&#8217;Alonzo (28.97), A.J. Van Nispen (28.97), Ellen Marcus (28.99), Katherine Ashenfelter (28.99) and Angela Sun (29.16) grabbed the bonus heat spots this evening. <\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s 50 free<br \/>\nLong Island&#8217;s Jack Wagner could have the meet record of 23.42 by David Fox in 1999 in his sights after putting a 23.93 up on the board during prelims. AGUA&#8217;s Griffin Schumacher took second in 24.46, while Long Island&#8217;s Nick Spinella placed third in 25.20. <\/p>\n<p>Long Island&#8217;s Austin Kowalsky (25.37), Suburban&#8217;s Darryl Washington (25.45), Elite&#8217;s Michael Strand (25.54), Bluefish&#8217;s Louis Arruda (25.55) and Delaware&#8217;s Tyler Early (25.63) took the rest of the A final spots. <\/p>\n<p>Luke Papendick (25.65), Adam Weinbrom (25.83), Michael McElduff (25.85), Samuel Mo (25.95), Sam Gyory (25.96), En-Wei Hu-Van Wright (25.98), Jordan Stillman (25.99) and Chris Lyons (26.04) earned transfer spots into the B final. <\/p>\n<p>Brian Barr (26.04), Lucas Zelehowsky (26.06), Bobby Waldner (26.09), Adam Zelehowsky (26.10), Aleksandr Galinskiy (26.16), Ben Itzkowitz (26.28), Alex Gianino (26.29) and Adam Sjoholm (26.32) picked up the C final lanes. <\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s 100 back<br \/>\nBluefish went 1-2-4 as Elizabeth Beisel led the way with a 1:05.80. Anna Senko finished second in 1:06.60, while Katherine Ashenfelter placed fourth in 1:07.20. Suburban&#8217;s Christie Leander qualified third in 1:07.16. <\/p>\n<p>Delaware&#8217;s Kaitlyn Jones (1:07.53), Germantown&#8217;s Taylor Sneed (1:08.86), Badger&#8217;s Elizabeth Schauer (1:08.89) and Delaware&#8217;s Nicole Vernon (1:08.95) also made the A final. <\/p>\n<p>Paige Anderson (1:09.43), Kendese Nangle (1:09.58), Annie Zhu (1:09.60), Danielle Sims (1:09.86), Morgan Karetnick (1:10.03), Daniela Rueda (1:10.07), Angela Sun (1:10.30) and Madeline Maher (1:10.40) claimed the B final spots. <\/p>\n<p>Brynja Winnan (1:10.55), Nicole Rodriguez (1:10.60), Gabrielle Shishkoff (1:10.67), Lara Butler (1:10.69), Casey Fazio (1:10.74), Mara Valenzuela (1:10.87), Alex Charbeneau (1:11.00) and Megan Zarriello (1:11.13) made up the C final field. <\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s 100 back<br \/>\nSuburban&#8217;s Ian Clark raced to the top time in the event with a 58.72, while Long Island&#8217;s Jack Wagner qualified second in 59.23. Long Island&#8217;s Nick Spinella (1:00.41) and Bluefish&#8217;s Pat Myers (1:00.68) placed third and fourth. <\/p>\n<p>Lakeland Hills&#8217; Luke Papendick (1:01.23), Jersey Wahoo Matt Belecanech (1:01.25), Elite&#8217;s Michael Strand (1:02.22) and AGUA&#8217;s En-Wie Hu-Van Wright (1:02.31) took fifth through eighth to move into the A final. <\/p>\n<p>Michael McElduff (1:02.82), Sam Gyory (1:02.85), Sean Johnson (1:03.10), Clifton Gordon (1:03.12), Jimmy McEldrew (1:03.31), Matthew Heise (1:03.44), Paul Schafer (1:03.48) and Paul Nolle (1:03.67) grabbed B final lanes. <\/p>\n<p>Eric Materniak (1:03.97), Eric Stobbe (1:03.99), Will Rappaport (1:04.02), Justin Tang (1:04.14), Kevin Wang (1:04.20), Victor Luo (1:04.20), Samuel Mo (1:04.74) and Victor Honore (1:04.86) earned the C final spots. <\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s 400 free<br \/>\nBadger&#8217;s Kelly Johanson put up a quality time in the women&#8217;s middle distance event. She clocked a time of 4:26.83. Germantown&#8217;s Kacie Ciampoli finished second in 4:27.85, while Bluefish&#8217;s Elizabeth Beisel eased into finals with a 4:28.28 to complete an early session that included 900 meters of swimming. <\/p>\n<p>Delaware&#8217;s Nicole Vernon (4:29.46), Long Island&#8217;s Emily Kelly (4:29.79), Bluefish&#8217;s Anna Senko (4:30.39), AGUA&#8217;s Daniela Rueda (4:30.55) and AGUA&#8217;s Lauren Morford (4:30.58) also made the championship heat. <\/p>\n<p>Annie Zhu (4:30.65), Michelle Stefandl (4:31.01), Megan Zarriello (4:32.98), Bridget Casey (4:34.16), Melanie Leonhard (4:34.36), Kaitlyn Jones (4:34.63), Bianca Spinazzola (4:35.15) and Julia Festa (4:35.54) made their way into the B final. <\/p>\n<p>Kelly Pontecorvo (4:35.61), Mariel Kush (4:36.89), Adrienne Groccia (4:37.09), Sara Schlichte (4:37.16), Lia Neal (4:37.46), Abigail Benkert (4:37.87), Cady Zawatson (4:37.93) and Rachel Kessler (4:38.18) took the C final spots. <\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s 400 free<br \/>\nGermantown&#8217;s Arthur Frayler cruised to the top seed with a time of 4:09.81, while Jersey Wahoo Matt Belecanech touched second in 4:11.59.
