GLASGOW, Scotland, January 15. THE Scottish Short Course Nationals got underway today with multiple victories for Hannah Miley and Robbie Renwick.<\/p>\n
In the opening event of the night the women's 800 free, Miley emerged victorious in a time of 8:28.54. That effort fell just short of her national record that stands at 8:26.04 from last year's meet. Helen McRoberts (8:53.78) and Rachel Tedeschi (9:02.64) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
The Olympic and World Championship 400 IM finalist followed up with a strong second 50 metres in the women's 100 breast to take the race out in 1:10.24. Fast-finishing Corrie Scott (1:11.20) edged out Fiona Booth (1:11.36) for second place.<\/p>\n
In the women's 200 IM, Miley continued to assert her dominance powering to victory in a time of 2:12.76. Eloise Barber finished second in 2:16.73 while Lucy Gordon wound up third in 2:18.02.<\/p>\n
Miley then completed an impressive evening's work winning the women's 200 fly in 2:12.99. Rounding out the podium were Kirsty Hart (2:18.24) and Blaine Small (2:20.33)<\/p>\n
On the men's side, Robbie Renwick opened his weekend's account with a pair of victories. In the men's 50 free, Renwick secured victory in 22.84. Jak Scott finished second in 23.13, while Daniel Scott rounded out the top three in 23.31.<\/p>\n
Renwick later returned to the pool taking out the men's 400 free in a time of 3:48.99. Joshua Walsh picked up second in 3:49.66 and Lewis Smith secured third in 3:53.32.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Craig McNally captured the men's 200 back crown in a time of 2:00.74. Lewis Smith had to settle for second in 2:00.98, while Callum Shaw finished third in 2:03.99.<\/p>\n
Andrew Mayor snared victory in the men's 100 fly winning in a time of 53.00. Ryan Bennett (54.02) and Andrew Hunter (55.72) completed the podium.<\/p>\n
In the closest final of the night, Lucy Ellis touched out Sarah Hamilton, 55.74 to 55.75, to win the women's 100 free. Claire Dawson finished third in 56.30.<\/p>\n
In another close finish, Douglas Scott earned the men's 50 breast crown winning in a time of 28.71. Daniel Scott (28.87) and Ross Clark (28.98) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
Fiona Donnelly followed with a time of 28.92 in the women's 50 back, while Sarah Eaglesham (29.25) took second and Laura Dawson (29.72) third.<\/p>\n
Lewis Smith rounded out the evening's action with victory in the men's 100 IM. His time of 57.37 was good enough to hold of Dan Wallace (57.91) and Tom Rookie (58.11).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
