DENVER, Colorado, January 13. THE WAC announced today that this year's Swimming and Diving Championship will be moved to a different facility within the San Antonio, Texas area due to maintenance issues. The championship \u2013 being held in San Antonio, Feb. 24-27 \u2013 has been conducted at Palo Alto College Natatorium 12 of the last 14 years, but will be moved to the Josh Davis Natatorium in northern San Antonio due to some mechanical problems at Palo Alto that will not be fixed by the scheduled dates. <\/p>\n
The schedule of events will remain virtually the same as in previous years with events beginning on Wednesday, February 24 and running through Saturday, February 27. The one difference is that since the Josh Davis Natatorium does not have a tower for platform diving, that event will be held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center at the University of Texas at Austin (about 75 miles from San Antonio) on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The one-meter and three-meter events will be held at the Josh Davis Natatorium but will be conducted on Friday and Saturday, respectively. <\/p>\n
"While we are disappointed to not be conducting our championship at Palo Alto Natatorium, we are confident that the Josh Davis facility will fulfill our needs of running our meet at the highest levels," said WAC Commissioner Karl Benson. "We looked at several options around the country and decided that continuing to hold the meet in the San Antonio area was the most beneficial to our teams and fans." <\/p>\n
