AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, December 20. THE Netherlands Short Course Championships produced three national records over the three-day meet.<\/p>\n
Moniek Nijhuis beat the national record in the women's 200 breast with a time of 2:22.88. That effort wiped out the 2:24.78 set by Loes Zanderink in August. Zanderink wound up third in 2:30.05 behind Tessa Brouwer's 2:25.61.<\/p>\n
Rieneke Terink lowered the national record in the women's 400 IM with a 4:36.91. That performance beat her previous time of 4:38.49 set last year.<\/p>\n
The team of Stefan de Die, Joost Reijns, Bas van Velthoven and Sebastiaan Verschuren won the men's 400 free relay in 3:14.60. That effort beat the previous national record of 3:15.16 set last year.<\/p>\n
Job Kienhuis won the men's 400 free in 3:46.17, while Terink lowered the meet record in the women's 400 free with a 4:04.35. Nick Driebergen cruised in the men's 200 back for the win with a 1:54.25, while Ekaterina Avramova took home the women's 200 back title in 2:08.25.<\/p>\n
Thijs van Valkengoed touched out Chris Jones, 1:01.28 to 1:01.38, for the men's 100 breast title. Roy Smeenge finished fifth with a 1:02.14 to set a national junior record. Nijhuis turned in a 1:05.78 to win the women's 100 breast in a meet record time for her second triumph of the meet. Brouwer set the national age group record for 18 year olds with a second-place 1:06.54.<\/p>\n
Joeri Verlinden topped the men's 200 fly in 1:54.12, while Sharon van Rouwendaal won the women's 200 fly in 2:13.54. That time is a national age group record for 16 year olds. Robin van Aggele posted a 22.26 in the men's 50 free for the win, while Saskia de Jonge won the women's 50 free in 25.08.<\/p>\n
Devi Wolthuizen touched first in the men's 200 IM with a 2:01.12, while Terink earned her third title of the meet with a 2:12.41 in the women's 200 IM. Van Rouwendaal claimed her second win as well with a 1:00.69 in the women's 100 fly. That time also broke a national age group record for 16 year olds. Verlinden won the men's 100 fly in 51.54 for his second victory of the meet. Wolthuizen returned in the men's 200 breast with a 2:10.81 for his second title.<\/p>\n
Avramova won the women's 50 back with a 28.17 for her second victory, while Driebergen took home his second title with a 24.59 in the men's 50 back. Davy Verreussel won the men's 400 IM in 4:20.20.<\/p>\n
Femke Heemskerk set the meet record in the women's 200 free with a 1:54.28, while De Die won the men's 200 free in 1:45.99. Trine Gudnitz claimed the women's 800 free title in 8:41.78. De Die would also win the men's 100 free in 48.74, while Heemskerk took the women's 100 free in 52.95.<\/p>\n
Driebergen captured his third with a 52.98 in the men's 100 back, giving him a backstroke sweep. Avramova also swept the women's backstrokes with a 1:00.28 in the women's 100 back.<\/p>\n
Lennart Stekelenburg claimed the men's 50 breast title in 27.89, while Nijhuis earned her third victory of the meet with a 30.72 in the women's 50 breast. Verlinden won his third with a 23.31 in the men's 50 fly, while Chantal Groot took the women's 50 fly title in 26.93. Kienhuis snatched the men's 1500 free meet record with a 14:48.72.<\/p>\n
