For more information about Agon, visit their website <a href=\"http:\/\/agonswim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A number of state and open records fell this weekend at the 2016 Connecticut Girls High School State Championship as Greenwich won the oepn state title with 510.5 points. Ridgefield finished second with 400.5 points and third place honors went to Weston with 376 points.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwich swept the one meter diving event to score 83 points, key to securing the state title. Junior\u00a0<strong>Katherine Russack<\/strong>, sophomore\u00a0<strong>Annabelle Pollack<\/strong>, and freshman\u00a0<strong>Saylor Kirsch\u00a0<\/strong>scored 468.2, 463.8, and 449.4 points respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kelly Montesi\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the only other individual win for Greenwich with a 55.65 100 butterfly. She was followed by two other juniors: Cheshire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Boyer\u00a0<\/strong>(56.38) and East Haven\/Cross&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Laura Rosado\u00a0<\/strong>(57.34).<\/p>\n<p>E.O. Smith&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>McKenna Dale\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted her way to the 50 and 100 freestyle state crowns. The senior posted a state record of 23.03 in the 50 and stopped the clock in 50.96 in the 100. Joining Dale under her own state record of 23.17 in the 50 was Ludlowe&#8217;s junior\u00a0<strong>Sarah Grinalds<\/strong>. Grinalds posted a 23.10. Weston&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Proceller\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 23.94. In the 100, Westbrook&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caitlin McNary\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 51.08 and Shelton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Simona Visinski\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze in 51.79.<\/p>\n<p>Grinalds covered the full freestyle spectrum. After a tough loss in the 50, she bounced back to edge Chesire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cameryn Guetens\u00a0<\/strong>for the 500 freestyle gold. Grinalds finished in 4:54.86, just ahead of Guetens&#8217; 4:54.95. Wethersfield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abigail Francis\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 5:01.10.<\/p>\n<p>Ridgefield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marcella Maguire\u00a0<\/strong>was a double winner as well. She was dominant in the 100 backstroke with a 54.30, just shy of her own state record of 54.13. In that event Staples&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Esme Hunter\u00a0<\/strong>(56.72) and Hadd-Kill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caitlyn VonFeldt\u00a0<\/strong>(58.02) rounded out the podium. Maguire swam a 1:50.05 for the 200 freestyle crown. McNary (1:50.96) and Hall&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tara Tiernan\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.15) were second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sophie Angus<\/strong>, and senior from Weston, set the state record in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:01.89. In finals she was edged by Darien&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaki Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>1:02.56 to 1:02.77 as both girls finished under the Open record of 1:02.96. Ridgefield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Gordon\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:03.59.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her double wins, Maguire also led Ridgefield to two relay victories. She teamed up with Gordon,\u00a0<strong>Anna Turker<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Hannah Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>to capture the 200 medley in open record time of 1:44.16. Weston&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Samantha McStocker<\/strong>, Angus,\u00a0<strong>Carolyn Morikawa<\/strong>, and\u00a0Proceller swam a 1:44.78 for runner up honors.\u00a0<strong>Mia Fraas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Willow Woods<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marissa Healy<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Mackenzie Healy\u00a0<\/strong>picked up third for Staples in 1:48.47.<\/p>\n<p>Maguire, Snyder, and Gordon added\u00a0<strong>Michaela O&#8217;Malley\u00a0<\/strong>to the mix to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:28.06. Greenwich was second in 3:30.77 with the team of\u00a0<strong>Julia Merrill<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kortney Knudsen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Emily Warner<\/strong>, and Montesi. Cheshire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Boyer<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Guetens,\u00a0<strong>Jordyn Deubel<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Julia Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>secured third in 3:32.90.<\/p>\n<p>Ludlowe&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katherine Thornton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Megan Phelan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lily Kernaghan<\/strong>, and Grinalds posted a 1:36.88 to smoke\u00a0the 200 freestyle relay. Nearly two seconds back Darien&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Phoebe Slaughter<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cassandra Maroney<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Carly Rutledge<\/strong>, and Christensen touched in 1:38.76.
