Loyola was runner up with 131 and Oswego E scored 120 for third. Three state records were also rewritten at the 2016 Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Rosary powered their way to the state championship with wins in both freestyle relays. In the 200 freestyle relay\u00a0<strong>Athena Ye<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kathryn Mueller<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alexis Yager<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Emily Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a 1:34.37, just faster than New Trier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joelle Ohr<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Madeleine Hines<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sophia Girgenti<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Lydia O&#8217;Connell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:34.74) and Loyola&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Olivia Andrew, Cassidy Coughlin<\/strong>, <strong>Margaret Guanc<\/strong>i, and\u00a0<strong>Ella Tierney\u00a0<\/strong>(1:34.87).<\/p>\n<p>In the night&#8217;s final event (the 400 freestyle relay) Ryan,\u00a0Mueller and Yager joined with\u00a0<strong>Anne Tavierne\u00a0<\/strong>to post a 3:25.25 for Rosary. A second behind was Loyola&#8217;s quartet of Coughlin, Andrew, Guanci, and Tierney. Oswego E earned bronze with\u00a0<strong>Grace Cooper<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Emily Giles<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mari Kraus<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Georgia White\u00a0<\/strong>touching in 3:27.09.<\/p>\n<p>Rosary claimed just one individual event: the 100 butterfly.\u00a0<strong>Camryn Streid\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in 55.39. She was followed by Loyola&#8217;s Andrew with a 55.51 and Lockport freshman\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Merk\u00a0<\/strong>in 55.56.<\/p>\n<p>Oswego E&#8217;s\u00a0White was a double event winner. The junior touched in 1:47.03 in the 200 freestyle. In prelims she stopped the clock in 1:46.69, breaking\u00a0<strong>Kirsten Jacobsen<\/strong>&#8216;s state record of 1:46.98. Tierney was on her heels with a 1:47.24 tonight. St. Charles&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Audrey Guyett\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium in 1:50.44.<\/p>\n<p>White also won the 100 freestyle with a swift 50.13, after cracking the 50 second barrier with a 49.93 in prelims.\u00a0<strong>Nata Ungaretti\u00a0<\/strong>of Oak Park\u00a0posted a 50.90 for silver. Bartlett senior\u00a0<strong>Kayla Filipek\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 51.18.<\/p>\n<p>Another state record fell in the 200 IM. U Urbana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ema Rajic\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 2:00.27. After swimming a 2:00.70 in prelims, she knocked down the 1998 record of 2:00.67. Rosary&#8217;s Yager was just off the old mark in 2:00.75. Kraus (2:02.64) finished third. Rajic also set the 100 breaststroke record. In prelims she touched in 1:00.90. At night she finished first with a 1:00.77. Both times were well under\u00a0<strong>Ashley Wanland<\/strong>&#8216;s 1:01.83 done in 2007. Behind her was\u00a0<strong>Valerie Tarazi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.90) of Crystal Lake and Waubonsie&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hannah Hunt\u00a0<\/strong>and Yager in a tie for third at\u00a01:02.97.<\/p>\n<p>Tierney won the 500 freestyle in 4:48.45. Guyett was second (4:50.97) and Metamora&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Noel Peplowski\u00a0<\/strong>(4:51.13) placed third. Edwardsville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bailey Grinter\u00a0<\/strong>topped the 100 backstroke podium with a54.36. Dunlap&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Theobald\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 55.08 and Loyola&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shannon Kearney\u00a0<\/strong>picked up third with a 55.42.<\/p>\n<p>With 452.55 points\u00a0New Trier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jessie Creed\u00a0<\/strong>won the one meter diving. Evanston&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lucy Hogan\u00a0<\/strong>(449.40) and Sterling&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kallie Zuidema\u00a0<\/strong>(444.75) were second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Oak Park&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hanna Blankemeier<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Gill<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Samantha Neilson<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Natalie Ungaretti\u00a0<\/strong>opened the session with a 1:43.94 to win the 200 medley relay. New Trier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vivian Wu<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sara Nicholas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kasey Venn<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Lydia O&#8217;Connell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:44.25) took second.
