LAST night, the Paul Bergen Junior International meet featured some more strong short course meter swimming from the global field of competitors.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Sumner started the second night off with a victory in the women&#39;s 50 free. She stopped the clock in 25.85, while Amanda Reason and Julika Niegish tied for second with 25.95s.  Steven Ung followed in the men&#39;s 50 free with a touch-out triumph over Joel Ax, 23.26 to 23.29. Rico Stockmann finished third in 23.33.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley McGregor claimed the women&#39;s 200 breast title in 2:27.19 with Bronwyn Pasloski finishing second in 2:28.58. Christian vom Lehn placed first in the men&#39;s 200 breast with a 2:12.11, while Troy Arnicke wound up second in 2:13.48 after setting the meet record a year ago with a 2:11.78.<\/p>\n<p>Genevieve Cantin cruised in the women&#39;s 200 back with a winning time of 2:09.31. Brittany MacLean provided her closest competition with a second-place 2:11.46.  Anders McIntyre cleared 2:00 in the men&#39;s 200 back with a 1:59.58, while James Mcquade earned second in 2:00.75.<\/p>\n<p>Katerine Savard touched out Lindsay Delmar, 27.18 to 27.21, in the women&#39;s 50 fly. Meanwhile, Neil O&#39;Halloran had a close call over McIntyre, 25.04 to 25.07, in the men&#39;s 50 fly. Jacqueline Keire topped the women&#39;s 400 free in 4:13.41 with Sumner claiming her second podium of the night with a second-place 4:14.04. Chad Bobrosky snatched the men&#39;s 400 free crown in 3:49.99, while Ax took second in 3:50.36 to show some range after his second-place 50 free.<\/p>\n<p>Reason, Rebecca Terejko, Cynthia Pammett and Keire won the women&#39;s 400 free relay in 3:45.52, finishing just a second off the meet record of 3:44.53 set last year.
