{"id":229451,"date":"2016-11-16T09:51:48","date_gmt":"2016-11-16T16:51:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=229451"},"modified":"2016-11-16T09:51:48","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T16:51:48","slug":"belgium-posts-entries-for-short-course-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/belgium-posts-entries-for-short-course-world-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Belgium Posts Entries for Short Course World Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Olympic silver medalist\u00a0<strong>Pieter Timmers\u00a0<\/strong>and seven of his Belgian teammates will be back in international waters next month for the Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Timmers won a surprising silver medal behind\u00a0<strong>Kyle Chalmers\u00a0<\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 100 free this summer in Rio, edging out defending champion\u00a0<strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kazakhstan-spain-and-belgium-celebrate-olympic-firsts\/\" target=\"_blank\">surpassing the best time of his role model<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>Pieter van den Hoogenband<\/strong>, a 47.84 which stood as the world record for eight years.<\/p>\n<p>Timmers will swim the 50, 100 and 200 free in Windsor, as well as the 800 free relay with teammates\u00a0<strong>Louis Croenen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Thijs<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Lorenz Weiremans<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Jasper Aerents\u00a0<\/strong>will be competing alongside Timmers in the 50 and 100 free, and\u00a0<strong>Lander Hendrickx<\/strong> will swim both the 400 and 1500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Croenen will compete in the 100 and 200 fly, and\u00a0<strong>Jonas Coreelman\u00a0<\/strong>will compete in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststrokes.\u00a0On the women&#8217;s side, Belgium&#8217;s roster for Windsor will consist of\u00a0<strong>Kimberly Buys<\/strong>, who will enter the 50 fly and 100 fly, along with the 100 free, and\u00a0<strong>Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong>, who is slated for all three breaststroke events and the 100 IM.<\/p>\n<p><em>View the full start list <a href=\"http:\/\/www.belswim.be\/uploads\/files\/SWI_Select_WK-CM_WindsorCAN2016.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Pieter Timmers\u00a0and seven of his Belgian teammates will be back in international waters next month for the Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada.
