The night after <strong>Sydney Wong<\/strong> signed her National Letter of Intent to swim for University of San Diego, teammate <strong>Rowan King<\/strong> signed his letter to swim for University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. The Squalicum High School senior in Washington state said he chose Pacific because of a \u201cfantastic team atmosphere, great coaching staff, competitive environment, and academic opportunities.\u201d He looks forward to swimming Division 1 with the high level athletes to help push him to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>King\u2019s best events are 100 breast stroke (56.87), 200 breaststroke (2:08.40), and the 50 freestyle (21.86). His most memorable race was getting his first Junior National cut in the 100 breaststroke at Pacific Northwest Washington State Senior Short Course Championships. \u201cI have never been so excited and proud after a race than when I finally obtained that milestone.\u201d King will also be competing in his best events at USA Swimming Winter Junior National Championships when he travels with Bellingham Bay Swim Team to Texas A&amp;M in College Station this December.<\/p>\n<p>He reminds younger swimmers that \u201cSwimming may not be fun in the way traditional sports are but it is when your hard work and dedication pays off and makes swimming competitively worth the effort.\u201d King thanks his parents for being a driving force behind his dedication to the sport. \u201cI could never have made it to this point without their sacrifices and support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Bellingham Bay Swim Team contributed this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To report a college commitment email <a href=\"mailto:HS@swimmingworld.com\">HS@swimmingworld.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agon is the proud sponsor of all high school coverage (recruiting, results, state championships, etc.) on SwimmingWorld.com.
