The younger Biondi will enroll in the fall of 2017, 34 years after his father matriculated at the same university.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">So excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of California Berkeley next year! Those two events will likely be his focus with the Golden Bears, and he figures to provide more depth for an already-outstanding sprint group that is a perpetual National Championship contender under head coach\u00a0<strong>Dave Durden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In long course, Biondi has clocked 24.85 in the 50 free and 53.74 in the 100 free. He attends Sierra Canyon High School and represents the Canyons Aquatic Club, which, under coach\u00a0<strong>Coley Stickels<\/strong>, recently produced Olympian\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong>, who now competes for Cal&#8217;s women&#8217;s team.<\/p>\n<p>Biondi&#8217;s father Matt won gold medals at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games. His finest performance came in Seoul in 1998, when he won the 50 and 100 free, finished second in the 100 fly and third in the 200 free and also contributed to three gold medal-winning U.S. relays.
