MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, December 5. THE Falcons kicked off one of the most important meets of the year on Friday. The Falcon Invite is one of the largest swim meets in the nation with over 500 athletes involved. The meet spans two days and is held at the aquatics center at the University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n
The Falcons did extremely well in the Men's 200-yard IM on Friday. Kevin O'Brien and Ray Carlos both had solid finishes in this race. Kevin O'Brien swam a time of 2:10.73 in the preliminaries while Ray Carlos finished right behind him with a time of 2:10.83. When the finals race came around they both improved on their times; O'Brien finished in tenth place with a time of 2:09.30. Ray Carlos finished in twelfth place with a time of 2:10.61. Kevin O'Brien toped his first performance by taking fourth in the men's 100 butterfly. He swam a prelim time of 54.27 and in the finals touched the wall after 53.18.<\/p>\n
In other races the Falcons fared well also. In the women's 500-yard freestyle Hannah Wiseman made it to finals and finished fifteenth with a time of 5:40.96. Dan Blasberg also made the finals in the men's 100 backstroke and finished fifteenth with a time of 1:01.68.<\/p>\n
Dan Ehrenberg just missed the cut to make the finals in the 50 freestyle coming in at a time of 23.12. Mars Delgado also came close in the same event touching the wall at 23.46. In the Women's 100 freestyle, Darian Kaiser and Alyssa Adair both just missed the cut finishing with times of 1:07.56 and 1:07.73 respectively. In the Women's 100 breaststroke Tamra Knight finished extremely close to the finals touching at 1:15.69. Sean Breneman just missed out on the Men's 100 butterfly finals touching at 1:01.81. <\/p>\n
The Falcon's had a solid first day of the Falcon invitational and hope to continue their good performances in the next stage of the meet. The second day begins tomorrow, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n
