Gyorgy will join the program in December and is eligible to compete this season.<\/p>\n<p>The H<sub>2<\/sub>Okies are getting an elite swimmer who competed for Hungary at the 2016 Olympics this past summer in Rio. She joins sophomore <strong>Norbert Szabo<\/strong> as a fellow Hungarian Olympian in Blacksburg.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to welcome Reka to our Hokie Nation,\u201d Skinner said. \u201cShe is an immediate impact player at every level of our sport. We look forward to helping Reka prepare for all NCAA competitions and beyond, including Tokyo in 2020. We believe she will really enjoy being a student-athlete here in Blacksburg.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gyorgy most recently competed at the 2016 Olympics in the 200 back where she finished 22nd overall. At the 2016 Hungarian Swimming Championships in Gyor, she won three gold medals in the 100 back, 200 back and 400 medley relay. She has also competed at two European Swimming Championships where placed ninth in her first adult long course competition in the 200 IM in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Ullo, Gyorgy\u2019s top times include a 54.02 in the 100 back and a 1:53.65 in the 200 back that she registered at the 2016 Hungarian Swimming Championships. Her personal bests in the 200 back and 100 free (49.32) would have ranked among the top times in Tech history. Her top time in the 400 IM would have placed fifth at the 2016 NCAA Championships and would have won her the 2016 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theacc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.theacc.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1478710926317000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF3HOvwy72vbEfO9unXi4vkU8-e7w\">ACC<\/a> title at last year\u2019s championship meet.
