LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 30. FOR the first time in the history of the competition, the team of Canada won the fourth edition of the FINA Synchro World Trophy, organised in Montreal (CAN) from November 27-29, 2009. Russia, who was first in 2006 and 2007, and has been dominating the major international competitions in the last decade, was second, followed by Spain (winner in 2008). After the five events of the competition, Canada finished with 491.666 points, while Russia got 491.333 and Spain totalled 485.666. Close from the podium, China finished fourth with 479.667.<\/p>\n
The Canadians won three events \u2013 Synchro Highlight Routine, Thematic Duet and Thematic Team -, and Russia finished first in the Solo and Combination. Spain was third in Thematic Duet, Solo and Thematic Team and second in the Combination event.<\/p>\n
In the FINA Synchro World Trophy, only the artistic impression of the routines is judged and the swimmers are allowed to wear accessories during their presentation.<\/p>\n
