For more information about Agon, visit their website <\/i><\/i><i><i><a href=\"https:\/\/agonswim.com\/\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>by Robbie Dickson, Swimming World College Intern.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>National Junior Teamer and Pinnacle High School&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aaron Apel<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgia-picks-up-national-junior-teamer-aaron-apel\/\">Georgia Bulldog commit<\/a>, picked up two victories yesterday in the 200 and 500 freestyles going 1:40.54 and 4:23.68 (new personal best) respectively. These events are considered more &#8220;sprint&#8221; events for Apel as his specialities expand into the mile as well as the 10k.<\/p>\n<p>But in the end, Apel&#8217;s Pinnacle was no match for Brophy College Prep. The team of <strong>Alexander Gomez<\/strong>,<strong> Patrick Schramm<\/strong>, <strong>Michael Niezgodski<\/strong>, and <strong>AJ Frakes<\/strong> won the 200yd Medley Relay in a time of 1:35.15. This was a very narrow victory over Boulder Creek High School, who \u00a0touched .21 behind for silver. Desert Vista came in third, but were winning the relay with one leg to go.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s first individual race was the 200yd freestyle, which was won by Apel. He earned a narrow victory over Chandler High&#8217;s <strong>Terry Yang<\/strong> who finished .09 behind Apel for the silver. <strong>Erik Orr<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a time of 1:41.28.<\/p>\n<p>The 200yd IM went to Horizon&#8217;s <strong>Cameron Heidenreich<\/strong> in a time of 1:50.83. He finished over a second ahead of<strong> Dakota Rubie<\/strong> (1:51.90) and almost two seconds ahead of Brophie College Prep&#8217;s <strong>Sean Gage<\/strong> (1:52.23). It&#8217;s worth noting that Brophie College Prep had three A finalists in this event, a big reason as to why they won the team title.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama commit <strong>Jack Blake<\/strong> took the men&#8217;s 50 free, nearly dipping below the twenty second mark, in a time of 20.09. <strong>Ray VanDuesen<\/strong> finished in second with a time of 20.89, and <strong>Luke Lyons<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a time of 21.17<\/p>\n<p>Brophy College Prep had no A finalists in the boy&#8217;s 100yd fly, opening up the door for <strong>Michael Klauss<\/strong> to take the victory with a 49.78. He was followed closely by Lyons (49.98) and then <strong>Drake Barberii<\/strong> took the bronze in a time of 50.98.<\/p>\n<p>Blake returned to scorch the boy&#8217;s 100yd freestyle with a time of 44.76. This was almost two seconds ahead of second place finisher AJ Frakes&#8217; 46.54 and <strong>Erikk Orr<\/strong>&#8216;s 46.56.<\/p>\n<p>Apel dominated the boy&#8217;s 500yd freestyle by nearly ten seconds. Terry Yang claimed the silver with a time of 4:33.06, and <strong>Stefan Cooley<\/strong> got the bronze with a 4:38.29.<\/p>\n<p>Brophy Collee Prep won the boys 200yd freestyle relay due in large part to Blake&#8217;s 19.83 anchor leg. This allowed the successful comeback over Boulder Creek High who finished in second. Perry High finished three seconds behind for the bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joshua Vedder<\/strong> won the backstroke with a 50.26, over a second ahead of the rest of the field. <strong>Brian Rawlinson<\/strong> earned the silver (51.42) and freshmen <strong>Luke Walker<\/strong> got the bronze (51.93).<\/p>\n<p>Brophy College Prep sealed the deal with one last victory in the men&#8217;s 400yd freestyle relay. They won by nearly five seconds, and were given a 43.94 split by anchor Jack Blake.
