Later the same day, the fastest swimmers once again took to the pool to swim at finals.<\/p>\n<p>The girls&#8217; meet came down to the wire, with the state title determined by less than a point.\u00a0Bartram Trail defeated the 2015 champion Gainesville by a score of 176.5 to 176. Chiles finished in third scoring 165.5 points.<\/p>\n<h3>Girls<\/h3>\n<p>Niceville topped the field in the 200 medley relay, followed swiftly by Creekside and Bartram Trail.<\/p>\n<p>Gainesville\u2019s <strong>Alena Kraus<\/strong> held her number one seed by finishing first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.09. She was the only female finisher to break the 1:50 mark. Chiles&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Holmes<\/strong>\u00a0(1:50.40) was second and <strong>Katelyn Kilpatrick<\/strong>\u00a0(1:51.47) of Vanguard was third.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Alina Faunce<\/strong> of Estero stopped the clock in 2:01.29 to win\u00a0the 200 IM. <strong>Summer Stanfield\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.53), Bartram Trail, got her hand to the wall for second, touching before Venice\u2019s <strong>Grace Patrice\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.80).<\/p>\n<p>Two females broke the 24-second barrier in the 50 freestyle this year. Senior <strong>Elianna Kenna<\/strong> of Oakleaf finished first in a 23.81, while freshman <strong>Chloe Grimme<\/strong>, Sunlake, swam in for second with a 23.92. <strong>Delan Simpkins<\/strong> of Martin County was third in 24.07.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the field in the 100 butterfly was Faunce of Estero, finishing with a 54.60. This was her second individual win of the night. In for second was Gulf Coast\u2019s <strong>Kayla Tennant\u00a0<\/strong>with a 55.51. She was followed by Washington senior <strong>Sophia Diagne\u00a0<\/strong>in 56.08.<\/p>\n<p>Kraus of Gainesville got her second individual win of the night when she touched in 50.08 in the 100 freestyle. Teammate <strong>Monona Martin<\/strong>\u00a0(51.62) finished in second, while <strong>Helena Heuberger<\/strong>\u00a0(52.11) of Clearwater swam in for third.<\/p>\n<p>Kilpatrick swam to victory in the 500 freestyle over Holmes. Both swimmers broke the 4:50 mark, going 4:49.39 and 4:49.63, respectively. Finishing third was Barron Collier\u2019s <strong>Isabella Marsala\u00a0<\/strong>(4:53.71).<\/p>\n<p>Gainesville&#8217;s 200 freestyle relay team touched in a commanding first besting the field by over 2 seconds. New Smryna Beach came in for second while Washington followed in for third place.<\/p>\n<p>Heuberger secured her first individual win in the 100 backstroke, being the only female to break the 56-second barrier with her 55.68. She was followed by Pines Charter\u2019s <strong>Kelley Heron <\/strong>(56.38). Stanfield came in for a third place finish of 57.04.<\/p>\n<p>Chiles\u2019 <strong>Morgan Ayers<\/strong> and Bartram Trail\u2019s <strong>Lilly McCabe<\/strong> both finished in a 1:04.56 in the 100 breaststroke. They will split the points evenly for this tie. <strong>Saige Kemeny<\/strong> of Lincoln finished next with a 1:05.92.<\/p>\n<p>Gainesville\u2019s 400 freestyle relay was victorious over Bartram Trail. Kraus helped her team to victory by anchoring in a 49.92. Both teams swam 5-seconds faster than third place, Chiles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Rousseau<\/strong> of Viera was victorious in the 1-meter diving event besting the field by over 40 points. Gulf Coast\u2019s <strong>Olivia Ricard<\/strong> was second, while <strong>Rainey Vause<\/strong> of Chiles was third.<\/p>\n<h3>Boys<\/h3>\n<p>Atlantic Coast started off the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Belen Jesuit slid in behind them for second. Chiles followed in third.<\/p>\n<p>The top three men in the 200 freestyle finished under the 1:40 mark. <strong>Aitor Fungairino<\/strong>, Belen Jesuit, touched first in a 1:37.63. <strong>Tate Callahan<\/strong> of Atlantic Coast was second in 1:39.22, while Fort Lauderdale\u2019s <strong>Tyler Zuyus<\/strong> finished just a tenth of a second\u00a0behind him for third.<\/p>\n<p>Mater Academy\u2019s <strong>Julio Horrego<\/strong> topped the field in the 200 IM (1:50.35), over the initial top seed <strong>Ricardo Martinez<\/strong>\u00a0(1:50.65) of Osceola. In for third was Barron Collier\u2019s <strong>Wyatt Kellett\u00a0<\/strong>with a 1:51.69.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Philippe Marcoux<\/strong>\u00a0(20.70) of Fort Lauderdale held his top seed in the 50 freestyle besting Venice\u2019s <strong>Jackson Defore\u00a0<\/strong>(20.92).\u00a0Finishing third was senior <strong>Diego Faucher<\/strong>\u00a0(21.11) from Doral (Miami).<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Adrian Moya<\/strong> of Doral (Miami) just out-touched Belen Jesuit\u2019s <strong>Alejandro Carriazo<\/strong> in the 100 butterfly. They finished in 48.56 and 48.57, respectively. <strong>Max Garcia del Pozo<\/strong> also of Belen Jesuit came in for third with a 49.95.<\/p>\n<p>Marcoux touched first in the 100 freestyle, 44.61, marking his second individual win of the night. He was followed by Atlantic Coast\u2019s Callahan, 45.39, and Northeast\u2019s <strong>Colton Gray<\/strong>, 46.38.<\/p>\n<p>The top three men in 500 freestyle went times under 4:30. Fungairino got his hand to the wall first with a 4:26.82,\u00a0<strong>John Scanlon<\/strong>\u00a0(4:27.58) of Naples was second, and Doral\u2019s <strong>Adrian Aguilar<\/strong>\u00a0(4:28.48) finished third.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 freestyle relay, Doral (Miami) held off Atlantic Coast to come in first place. Belen Jesuit finished in third.<\/p>\n<p>Defore marked his first individual win in the 100 backstroke breaking the 50-second barrier in a 49.39. Carriazo finished in second with a 51.34, while <strong>Ryland Sun<\/strong> of Chiles came in for third with a 51.44.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Limbacher<\/strong>, Naples, swam a 55.29 in the 100 breaststroke to secure a first place victory. Horrego (56.31) finished second while Kellett (56.92) swam in for third.<\/p>\n<p>In the 400 freestyle relay, Doral (Miami) topped the field touching first. Moya swam a scorching 44.75 to help his team to victory. Belen Jesuit touched for second while Venice finished in third.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Chase Lane<\/strong> of Chiles won the 1-meter diving event scoring 100 points more than the second place finisher <strong>Taj Cole<\/strong> of Leon. In for third was <strong>Jawone Blakenship<\/strong> of Pensacola.<\/p>\n<p>Chiles is the 2016 state champion scoring 44 points more than second place, Belen Jesuit.
