The Triple Distance Meet bases events on a three-race cumulative time with swimmers competing in three distances in each stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Cal\u2019s <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> returned to racing with a win in the backstroke while fellow senior <strong>Hunter Cobleigh<\/strong>\u00a0won a tight battle with teammate <strong>Connor Hoppe<\/strong> to claim victory in the breaststroke. Freshman Michael Jensen took the victory in the sprint freestyle and <strong>Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> finished the day with the best overall time in the individual medley.<\/p>\n<p>Hoppe and Cobleigh faced off in the breaststroke, after Hoppe won both the 50 and 100-yard versions of the event, Cobleigh rallied with a time of 2:01.07 to finish the three events with a time of 3:22.64 that was just nine-hundreths of a second faster than Hoppe.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy made his 2016 debut with dominant swims in the backstroke, winning the 50 (21.84), 100 (46.08) and 200 (1:41.80) to earn the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Jensen won in the 100 and 200 to the victory in the sprint freestyle events. Seliskar won the 100 IM. He rolled to wins in the 200 and 400 and took the overall title.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford\u2019s <strong>Grant Shoults<\/strong> (1:37.13) won the 200-yard freestyle, and the 500 freestyle (4:23.85).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jimmy Yoder<\/strong> (1:44.02) set a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly, breaking <strong>Gray Umbach<\/strong>\u2019s record from Stanford&#8217;s last meeting with Cal in the 2015-16 season.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the complete results <a href=\"http:\/\/sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com\/calberk.sidearmsports.com\/documents\/2016\/11\/2\/cal_stanford_tripledistancemeet_results.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Arizona State men beat USC<\/h3>\n<p>It has been 13 years since the Arizona State men&#8217;s swim team defeated USC. But in a meet so close, it was originally scored a tie before a scoring glitch was figured out, the No. 24 Sun Devils continued their undefeated season at No. 14 USC with a 156.50-142.50 victory. Meanwhile, the No. 5 USC women won 169-104.<\/p>\n<p>The USC and Arizona State men are 3-0-1, while the USC women remained unbeaten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> won two events to lead the Trojans.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona State\u2019s <strong>Ben Olszewski<\/strong> won the 1,650 freestyle (15:33.22) and 500 freestyle. <strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong> won the 100 and 200 freestyle (1:36.79).<\/p>\n<p>Arizona State\u2019s <strong>Richard Bohus<\/strong> and USC&#8217;s <strong>Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong> tied to win the 100 back in 47.4.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s meet, USC freshman <strong>Tatum Wade<\/strong> won the 200 free (NCAA B cut of 1:47.07), 500 free and 200 IM. Sophomore <strong>Allie Wooden<\/strong> won the season\u2019s first 1650 free (16:37.10).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maddie Wright<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly (1:58.16).<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Anika Apostalon<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 50 free with a USC season-best and NCAA B cut 22.72, edging ASU\u2019s <strong>Alysha Bush<\/strong>\u2019s 22.82.<\/p>\n<h3>USC sweeps Arizona<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dylan Carter, Carsten Vissering<\/strong> and <strong>Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> won two events apiece to lead the No. 14 USC men\u2019s swimming and diving team to a 165-129 victory over Arizona on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s meet, <strong>Riley Scott<\/strong> swept the breaststroke events and <strong>Naomi Gowlett<\/strong> won both diving events to lead host No. 5 USC to a 169-131 win.<\/p>\n<p>Carter won the 200 fly in 1:36.60 and the 50y free in 20.21.<\/p>\n<p>Vissering won the 100 breast in 53.77 and the 200 breast in 2:02.09.<\/p>\n<p>Mulcare won the 200 back in 1:48.27 and the 400 IM in 3:56.26.<\/p>\n<p>Scott won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.97 and the 200 breast in 2:12.90. <strong>Tatum Wade<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:47.36.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona freshman <strong>Hannah Cox<\/strong> won the 500 free with 4:46.59 and later won the 400 IM with 4:15.90 \u2013\u00a0both NCAA provisional cuts. <strong>Tjasa Oder\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1,000 free (9:54.95) ahead of USC freshman <strong>Becca Mann<\/strong>\u2019s 9:57.65.\u00a0<strong>Annie Ochitwa<\/strong> won the 100 fly with am NCAA B cut time of 53.80.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katrina Konopka<\/strong> won the 50 free (22.53) and <strong>Cameron McHugh<\/strong> won the 200 back (1:58.56) both earned &#8216;B&#8217; cuts from their wins. Konopka also earned a &#8216;B&#8217; cut with a runner-up finish in the 100 free (49.35). Sophomore <strong>Taylor Garcia<\/strong> added another &#8216;B&#8217; cut coming in the 100 back (54.28).<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, senior <strong>Tyler Fowler<\/strong> won the 1,000 free (9:15.20).<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Brendan Meyer<\/strong> won the 500 free with 4:29.84. Meyer also finished second in the 200 fly with 1:47.81 to earn an NCAA &#8216;B&#8217; cut.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chatham Dobbs<\/strong> won the 100 fly with a time of 47.86, a &#8216;B&#8217; cut. Dobbs also took third in the 100 back for his second &#8216;B&#8217; cut (48.23). Sophomore <strong>Blaire Bish<\/strong> notched his own &#8216;B&#8217; cut in the 100 breast with a runner-up finish (54.81).<\/p>\n<h3>Utah sweeps UNLV<\/h3>\n<p>The Utah men and women swept UNLV on\u00a0Friday. The men won 192-100, while the women won 178-122.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dorien Butter<\/strong> won the 100 free (51.69). <strong>Jordan Anderson<\/strong> took first in the 1,000 free (10:19.55) and the 200 fly (2:04.80) to cap a solid evening while <strong>Sarah Lott<\/strong> won the 200 free (1:51.94)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Dan D\u2019Addona.
