Here is what to watch for this week:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Arizona State vs. Denver<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong> is making some headway helping to bring the Arizona men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving team to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>The Sun Devils made some major improvements last week, winning 20 of 24 events in a dual meet against BYU. The men won 189-109 and the women won 189-107.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Arizona State returns to Tempe for its home opener against Denver at noon on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Several Sun Devils are coming off of strong performances against BYU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alysha Bush<\/strong> once again performed well, earning a pair of wins in the 50 and 100-yard free while <strong>Chloe Isleta<\/strong> (200-yard back, 200-yard IM), <strong>Kendall Dawson<\/strong> (500 and 1000-yard free) and <strong>Kaya Philapil<\/strong> (100-yard and 200-yard breast) also touched first in multiple events for the women.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, <strong>Zach Poti<\/strong> (100-yard back) and <strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong> (200-yard IM) earned their first career individual victories while <strong>Benjamin Olszewski<\/strong> (500 and 1000-yard free) earned multiple victories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mara Aiacoboae<\/strong> took first in both the women&#8217;s 1-and 3-meter dives while<strong> David Hoffer<\/strong> earned a win in the men&#8217;s 3-meter.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Washington State vs. UCLA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Washington State is coming off of a loss to No. 9 Cal that saw a the Cougars show a lot of promise, even though it didn\u2019t lead to a victory.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Angela Mavrantza<\/strong> won the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:04.01, just out-touching California&#8217;s <strong>Maija Roses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Athens, Greece, native then broke into the Washington State All-Time Top 10 with a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:16.73 put her in a tie with current teammate <strong>Addisynn Bursch<\/strong> for seventh on the list.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA is coming off of a big victory in its Breast Cancer Awareness Meet.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins posted nine first-place finishes in their home-opening Breast Cancer Awareness meet on Saturday afternoon. Seven swimmers won, while senior <strong>Annika Lenz<\/strong> swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Katy Campbell<\/strong> cruised to a comfortable victory in the 1,000 freestyle (10:13.52). <strong>Linnea Mack<\/strong> won the 200 freestyle (1:49.43) and the 100 freestyle (50.07). Freshman <strong>Kenisha Liu<\/strong> won the 200 breaststroke (2:17.81).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Dan D\u2019Addona.
