In the process, Chalmers over-turned\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov&#8217;s<\/strong> seven-meet reign over the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Previous to that, the\u00a0World Junior Record was a time of 47.20, however FINA had no name associated with the time. This is because when FINA began recognizing short course meter records in January of 2015 they simply set \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-short-course-world-junior-records\/\" target=\"_blank\">benchmarks<\/a>\u201d for times. As those benchmark times are bypassed the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/sites\/default\/files\/wr_jr_jul_28_2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">record book<\/a>\u00a0begins to fill with names.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his World Junior record at the Singapore stop of the World Cup, Chalmers took home a gold medal in the 200 free (1:42.67).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kyle Chalmers, 18, of Australia continued to impress on the 2016 FINA World Cup stage with a top showing in finals of the men&#8217;s 100 free in Tokyo.
