This week saw a high profile match-up between the defending NCAA Division II Champions Queens University of Charlotte and Division III powerhouse Emory in addition to some tight match-ups down in Florida. Read below to see this week’s Division II meet recap!<\/p>\n

Queens vs. Emory<\/b><\/h3>\n

In a match-up that featured two of the best schools in Division II and Division III swimming, the Emory Eagles came away with two wins against Division II NCAA Champions Queens University of Charlotte. The men came away with a 153-109 win over the Royals, while the Emory women just edged out the Royals, 136-126.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, Queens only came away with 3 event wins, all from junior <\/span>Dion Dreesens. <\/b>He touched first in the 200 free (1:40.89), 200 butterfly (1:52.87), 100 free (45.63). The women\u2019s meet was a much closer contest, with Queens University taking 7 of the 12 events but still falling to Emory by 10 points. This was a close meet from event to event, with Emory working their way back in the second half to ultimately claim victory. Junior <\/span>McKenzie Stevens<\/b> was a double event winner in the 1,000 (10:26.59) and 500 (5:04.17) freestyles, while sophomore <\/span>Josephina Lorda <\/b>won the 200 free (1:51.40), 200 butterfly (2:07.96), and 200 IM (2:06.71). Both teams will take on Wingate on October 29th. <\/span><\/p>\n

Florida Southern vs. Florida Tech, Keiser University<\/b><\/h3>\n

Florida Southern continued their strong season with a sweep for both the men and women in a home-opener this weekend against Keiser University and Florida Tech. The Moccasin men topped Florida Tech 321-162 and Keiser 344-138. The Moccasin women beat Florida Tech 317-166 and Keiser 365-66.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, Florida Southern won 11 individual events and one relay. The men had three double winners: sophomore <\/span>Luka Planinc <\/b>won the 1,000 (9:52.08) and 500 (4:45.71) freestyles; junior <\/span>Noah Franz <\/b>won the 200 free (1:41.55) and 100 freestyle (46.03); and <\/span>Marco Palacios <\/b>took the 100 back (51.56) and 200 back (1:51.10). <\/span><\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s side, the Mocs won 9 individual events on the day. Junior <\/span>Peyton Breault <\/b>won three individual events across the meet, including the 200 free (1:55.40), 200 back (2:07.80), and 500 free (5:16.42). Junior <\/span>Jacinda Whittenburg <\/b>was a double event winner, taking the 200 breast (2:24.05) and 200 IM (2:11.53). The Florida Southern Moccasins will take on Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State, and West Florida on November 4-5. <\/span><\/p>\n

Florida International vs. Indian River, Nova Southeastern<\/b><\/h3>\n

The FIU tri-meet saw the Nova Southeastern men defeat Indian River, while the Nova women split, coming out on top of Indian River but falling to Florida International (FIU only has a women\u2019s swim & dive program). The final score for the men\u2019s contest was 161-127, while the women defeated Indian River 190-96 but fell to FIU 159-121.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, Nova started the meet strong by winning the 400 medley relay and taking first through fourth in the 1,000 freestyle. Senior <\/span>Marco Aldabe <\/b>carried that momentum into two individual event wins, when he took both the 100 (51.14) and 200 (1:51.54) backstrokes. For the women, the FIU Panthers came away with 10 event wins and used their depth to pull away from Nova in the second half. FIU Sophomore <\/span>Oceane Peretti<\/b> won the 1,000 and 200 freestyles while teammate <\/span>Skye Carey<\/b> swept the 100 and 200 backstroke.
