The Wisconsin men’s and women’s swim team have had a start to the season like few teams can compare with this season.<\/p>\n

The Badgers faced Auburn and Minnesota only to face the North Carolina State Wolfpack.<\/p>\n

The Wolfpack held off the Badgers to sweep the meet, the No. 10 women winning 200-149 and the No. 7 men a 224-121 victory in the men’s competition. Wisconsin is ranked No. 16 in the men’s poll and No. 12 in the women’s rankings.<\/p>\n

N.C. State won 16 of the 18 events. It was a statement meet for the Wolfpack. But on the other side of things, this was not a meet that should make the Badgers worry. They swam well against one of the most overlooked teams in the country \u2014 even one that is ranked in the top 10 in the nation.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin had some big swims, as did the Wolfpack. Here are some of the highlights.<\/p>\n

Hannah Moore<\/strong> won the 500 freestyle (4:41.81), the 400 IM (4:14.37) in a pool record for the Wolfpack. Both were NCAA provisional qualifying times.<\/p>\n

The N.C. State men rode its backstrokers. The 200 back was highlighted by Hennessey Stuart<\/strong> and Coleman Stewart<\/strong> earning their NCAA ‘B’ cuts with times of 1:44.23 and 1:45.64, while Ryan Held<\/strong> posted a 43.74 in the 100 freestyle to win the event and notch his ‘B’ cut.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin’s Chase Kinney<\/strong> won the 50 freestyle in an NCAA provisional cut of 22.82 seconds. Cierra Runge<\/strong> won the 200 freestyle (1:48.24).<\/p>\n

The Wisconsin women posted a 1-2-3 sweep on the 1-meter springboard with senior Ashley Peterson<\/strong> winning the event with a score of 540.46. Sophomore Hazel Hertting<\/strong> and Alexandra Hafey<\/strong> rounded out the sweep earning scores of 532.88 and 523.05, respectively.<\/p>\n

Also earning provisional cuts for the Badgers were freshman Beata Nelson<\/strong> and sophomore Jess Unicomb<\/strong> who took third (54.21) and fourth (54.63), respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
