This year marks Ledecky&#8217;s second straight appearance on the list, and it&#8217;s a well-deserved honor, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>Ledecky won four gold medals and one silver at the Olympic Games in Rio, setting world records in the 400 free and 800 free along the way.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;When Ledecky swims, few question whether she will win her race. Instead, they wonder whether she will set another world record, obliterating the previous one, which she herself set just a few months before,&#8221;\u00a0<em>Time&#8217;s<\/em> <strong>Alice Park<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>wrote.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The short feature then explains what Ledecky wants to get out of her time at Stanford.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;I want to swim in the NCAA, I want to be with my teammates, I want to go to class with them and compete collegiately. I think that\u2019s going to benefit me as a person, so I\u2019m well rounded in both school and swimming, and in everything else I\u2019m doing,&#8221; Ledecky said.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This year is guaranteed to be the last year on the teens&#8217; list for Ledecky, as she will turn 20 on March 17, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the list is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=yusra+mardini\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Yusra Mardini<\/strong><\/a>, an 18-year-old who swam on the first ever Refugee Olympic Team in Rio.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;The Syrian-born member of the first-ever <span class=\"s2\">Refugee Olympic Team\u00a0<\/span>made history at the Rio Games this summer \u2014 not because of her blistering times, but because she was the only competitor in the pool who had literally swum for her life,&#8221;\u00a0<em>Time&#8217;s<\/em><strong> Eliza Berman<\/strong> wrote.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Two other Olympians, gymnasts <strong>Simone Biles<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Laurie Hernandez<\/strong>, made <em>Time&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>list, as did other notable figures from outside sports like\u00a0<strong>Malia<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Sasha Obama<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>To view the full list, click <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/4532104\/most-influential-teens-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Katie Ledecky has been named one of\u00a0Time&#8217;s 30\u00a0most influential teens of 2016.
