Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n Finals of the women’s 100 free was highlighted by another strong battle between Algeria’s\u00a0Amel Melih<\/strong> and South Africa’s\u00a0Gabi Grobler<\/strong>. The two posted the only sub-59 second swims, with Melih claiming victory with a final time of 58.28. Grobler settled for second with a time of 58.54.<\/p>\n Picking up third was South Africa’s\u00a0Samantha Labuschagne<\/strong> with a final time of 59.38.<\/p>\n Egypt’s\u00a0Rowan El Badry\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 1:00.53 for fourth, followed by close times from Angola’s\u00a0Ana Nobrega\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.26) and Senegal’s\u00a0Jeanne Boutbien<\/strong> (1:01.97).<\/p>\n Namibia’s\u00a0Kiara Schatz<\/strong> and Mauritius’\u00a0Annah Auckburaullee\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh and eighth with times of 1:02.14 and 1:02.84 respectively.<\/p>\n Alaric Basson<\/strong> of South Africa maintained his spot atop the leaderboard in the men’s 100 breast with a final time of 1:03.12, dropping .67 seconds off his prelims time of 1:03.79.<\/p>\n Teammate\u00a0Michael Houlie\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close second with a time of 1:03.46, while Egypt’s\u00a0Hassan Yasser<\/strong> took third with a 1:03.66.<\/p>\n James Lawson<\/strong> of Zimbabwe finished fourth overall with a 1:04.54, followed by Morocco’s\u00a0Ahmed Reda Ennaim<\/strong> and his time of 1:06.85.<\/p>\n Mauritius’\u00a0Oliver Ah Ching<\/strong> (1:08.68), Zambia’s\u00a0Alex Axiotis<\/strong> (1:08.85), and Senegal’s\u00a0Adama Thiaw Ndir\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.95) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n South Africa’s\u00a0Rebecca Meder<\/strong> posted the only sub-five minute swim in finals of the women’s 400 IM. Meder delivered a 4:58.51 to take home gold.<\/p>\n Rania Hamida Nefsi\u00a0<\/strong>of Algeria finished second overall with a 5:02.58, while Egypt’s\u00a0Rowaida\u00a0<\/strong>Hexham\u00a0<\/b>was third with a 5:0551.<\/p>\n Algeria’s\u00a0Souad Nefissa Cherouati\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fourth with a time of 5:13.25, ahead of South Africa’s\u00a0Hanim Abrahams<\/strong> and her time of 5:21.86.<\/p>\n Antonia Roth\u00a0<\/strong>of Namibia finished sixth with a time of 5:24.89, followed by Angola’s\u00a0Raquel Tremoco’s<\/strong> 5:40.31.<\/p>\n Myles Brown\u00a0<\/strong>of South Africa rocketed to the top of the leaderboard in the men’s 200 free finals, dropping a staggering 4.12 seconds off his prelims swim. Brown touched with a final time of 1:50.93 for gold.<\/p>\n Marwan Elamrawy<\/strong> of Egypt took second overall with a 1:51.60, followed closely by South Africa’s\u00a0Calvin Justus\u00a0<\/strong>and his time of 1:51.92.<\/p>\n Mozambique’s\u00a0Igor Mogne\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth overall with a 1:54.86, while Algeria’s\u00a0Lounis Khendriche\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth with a 1:57.67.<\/p>\n Mauritius’\u00a0Mathieu Marquet<\/strong> (1:59.05), Morocco’s\u00a0Adil Assouab<\/strong> (2:00.24), and Senegal’s\u00a0Ismael Eloit Kane<\/strong> (2:02.15) were sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n Seychelle’s\u00a0Alexus Laird<\/strong> topped the competition in finals of the women’s 50 back. Laird delivered a 30.68 to be the only athlete under the 31-second mark.<\/p>\n Algeria’s\u00a0Amel Melih\u00a0<\/strong>added a silver medal to her collection with a 31.08 finish.<\/p>\n Ingy Abouzaid<\/strong> of Egypt picked up a narrow third-place victory over South Africa’s\u00a0Carissa van Rooyen<\/strong>.
