South Carolina will kick off the season with state titles being awarded this weekend, a week later than planned. While the public school seasons should have concluded last weekend, Hurricane Matthew delayed the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The 5A meet will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. On Saturday the 4A championships will go off at 10:15 a.m. and 3A at 3 p.m. All three meets are timed finals and will take place at the Solomon Blatt Physical Education Center on the campus of the University of South Carolina.<\/p>\n<h3>3A Preview<\/h3>\n<p>The Baker twins could combine for four individual state titles for Christ Church Episcopal School on Saturday. After cruising through the early\u00a0season\u00a0<strong>Sydney Baker\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the 100 breaststroke and the fourth seed in the 200 freestyle. Her sister\u00a0<strong>Maddie Baker\u00a0<\/strong>is entered first in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Greenville Tech Charter&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ally Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the 50 freestyle while Brashier Middle College&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>leads the way in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>On the boy&#8217;s side, Palmeto&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Talmadge Davis\u00a0<\/strong>leads the way in the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle by considerable margins in both events. Waccamaw&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patrick Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>will look to take the sprint double. He&#8217;s entered first in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Teammate\u00a0<strong>John Grey Crosby\u00a0<\/strong>will seek to join him on the podium in both events.<\/p>\n<p>The psych sheet is available <a href=\"http:\/\/sportstiming.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-10-08-Psych-Sheets-Final-Qualifiers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>4A Preview<\/h3>\n<p>Dreher&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hayley Mason\u00a0<\/strong>has set herself up for mid-distance success with top seeds in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Freshman\u00a0<strong>Riley Parker\u00a0<\/strong>from Eastside could perform the upset, holding a second seed in the 200 freestyle as well as the 100 backstroke. Berkeley sophomore\u00a0<strong>Sarah Mundy\u00a0<\/strong>is seeded well ahead in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Greenville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna Havens Rice\u00a0<\/strong>enters the weekend with a dominant top spot in the 200 IM and on North Augusta&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Rice<\/strong>&#8216;s tail in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 IM is one of the most tightly seeded events of the meet. Eastside teammates\u00a0<strong>Dylan Muse\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Joseph Brooks\u00a0<\/strong>sit in the top two spots while South Aiken&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Robinson\u00a0<\/strong>is the third seed. Robinson is on top of the rankings in the 100 backstroke. Muse leads the way in the 100 breaststroke, only .02 ahead of South Pointe&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maurilio Saddoud.\u00a0<\/strong>In the 500 freestyle Aiken&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jason Kekacs\u00a0<\/strong>is the only swimmer entered under five minutes. Kekacs will have a battle for gold in the 200 freestyle with Hilton Head&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Geist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The psych sheet is available <a href=\"http:\/\/sportstiming.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-10-08-Final-Psych-Sheet-with-Qualifiers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>5A Preview<\/h3>\n<p>Senior\u00a0<strong>Caroline Spence\u00a0<\/strong>has two top seeds. The West Florence swimmer leads the way in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. She has Riverside teammates\u00a0<strong>Maegan Rudolph\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jessi Snover\u00a0<\/strong>in pursuit in the 100 butterfly. Rudolph is the fastest entrant in the 100 freestyle while\u00a0<strong>Aubrey Chandler\u00a0<\/strong>of Fort Mill sits second. Chandler is the 50 freestyle favorite. Dorman&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rachel Reistroffer\u00a0<\/strong>is the quickest qualifier in the 500 free. Lexington senior\u00a0<strong>Margaret Halloran\u00a0<\/strong>has a three second edge on the field in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>Boiling Springs&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Price Agnew\u00a0<\/strong>enters the weekend as the favorite in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Wando&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Johnny Gush\u00a0<\/strong>and Dutch Fork&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wyatt Boyer\u00a0<\/strong>will be his challengers in the 200. Boyer is the second seed in the 500 freestyle while Fort Mill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ben Fenwick\u00a0<\/strong>is third. Fenwick has the fastest entry in the 200 IM. West Ashley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cooper Bennett\u00a0<\/strong>is the fastest qualifier in the 50 freestyle. In the 100 free he comes in second to Riverside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brandon Meier<\/strong>. Meier is only .02 behind in the 50 entries. The top six swimmers in the 100 butterfly are seeded within six tenths.
