Denmark’s\u00a0Jeanette Ottesen\u00a0<\/strong>opened the day with a win in the women’s 100 free. She led by seven tenths at the halfway point and never looked back, pulling away for a 51.58 triumph. The win was her third of the competition after capturing the 100 fly and 50 free day one.<\/p>\n Hungary’s\u00a0Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>, the winner of four gold medals and two silvers Saturday, came in second at 52.63, pulling ahead of Australia’s\u00a0Madeline Groves<\/strong> and\u00a0Brittany Elmslie<\/strong> on the way home. Groves ended up third in 52.89 and Elmslie fourth in 52.97.<\/p>\n Russia’s\u00a0Natalia Lovtcova<\/strong> finished well back in fifth in 55.16, ahead of France’s\u00a0Camille Gheorghiu\u00a0<\/strong>(55.76), China’s\u00a0Yang Chang<\/strong> (56.74), Latvia’s\u00a0Gabriela Nikitina<\/strong> (56.99), France’s\u00a0Camille Dauba<\/strong> (57.05) and New Zealand’s\u00a0Lucy Agnew\u00a0<\/strong>(58.72).<\/p>\n It was a battle of the outside lanes as South Africa’s\u00a0Chad le Clos<\/strong> overtook Great Britain’s\u00a0James Guy<\/strong> for first place with a blazing last 50. Guy had previously pulled ahead of le Clos on the third 50, but the South African had something left in the tank.<\/p>\n Le Clos touched in 1:42.84, and Guy held off another South African,\u00a0Myles Brown<\/strong>, for second, 1:43.17 to 1:43.20.<\/p>\n Germany’s\u00a0Phillip Heintz\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth in 1:44.26, and Belgium’s\u00a0Pieter Timmers<\/strong> came in next at 1:45.60. Hong Kong’s\u00a0Chueng Kin Tat<\/strong> clocked a sixth-place time of 1:46.73, ahead of Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Aleksey Tarasenko\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.81), the Czech Republic’s\u00a0Jakob Karl\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.00), Uzbekistan’s Khurshidjon Turnusov<\/strong> (1:49.92) and Serbia’s\u00a0Aleksa Bobar\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.36).<\/p>\n It was the familiar trio of ladies atop the sprint breaststroke, but this time, Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>got her hand to the wall first. The Jamaican posted a blistering 28.98, just shy of\u00a0Jessica Hardy’s<\/strong> world record of 28.80 from 2009.<\/p>\n Second went to Russia’s\u00a0Yulia Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>in 29.27, and the USA’s Katie Meili<\/strong> had to settle for third in 29.78.<\/p>\n Another American,\u00a0Breeja Larson<\/strong>, came in at 30.33, good for fourth place and just ahead of Australia’s\u00a0Tessa Wallace<\/strong> (30.59) and Japan’s\u00a0Rie Kaneto<\/strong> (30.81). Slovakia’s\u00a0Andrea Podmanikova<\/strong> (31.02), the USA’s\u00a0Liz Roberts<\/strong> (32.29) and South Africa’s\u00a0Caroux De Lange\u00a0<\/strong>(33.95) completed the field.<\/p>\n Russia’s\u00a0Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> picked up his first victory of the day. After winning both the 100 free and 100 IM Saturday, he earned a tight win over Brazil’s\u00a0Felipe Lima<\/strong> in the 100 breast, 56.97 to 57.12.<\/p>\n Well back in third was Japan’s\u00a0Daiya Seto<\/strong>, who cam in at 58.07, ahead of Germany’s\u00a0Marco Koch<\/strong> (58.65) and China’s\u00a0Li Xiang<\/strong> (58.70).<\/p>\n South Africa’s Giulio Zorzi\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth in 59.71, one one-hundredth ahead of China’s\u00a0Wang Boyu<\/strong> (59.72). Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Vladislav Mustafin<\/strong> (1:00.18), Egypt’s\u00a0Marwan El-Kamash<\/strong> (1:00.59) and France’s\u00a0William Debourges<\/strong> (1:01.52) also made the final.<\/p>\n South Africa’s\u00a0Chad le Clos\u00a0<\/strong>earned another comeback win in the men’s 100 fly. The two-time Olympic silver medalist and defending World Champion in the event trailed Japan’s\u00a0Takeshi Kawamoto<\/strong> and Belarus’\u00a0Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> at the halfway point before rallying on the way home.<\/p>\n Le Clos touched in 50.23, well off his world record of 48.44 but just enough to clip Kawamoto’s 50.44. Sankovich ended up third in 50.98.<\/p>\n Making a rare appearance in sprint fly, the USA’s\u00a0Josh Prenot<\/strong> took fourth in 51.46. Hong Kong’s\u00a0Ng Chun Nam<\/strong> clocked 51.88 for fifth, and Ukraine’s\u00a0Andrii Khloptsov<\/strong> was sixth in 52.15.<\/p>\n Rounding out the final were\u00a0Artyom Kozlyuk<\/strong> (53.07),\u00a0Jordan Coelho<\/strong> (53.10),\u00a0James Guy<\/strong> (53.57) and\u00a0Justin Kraatz<\/strong> (54.51).<\/p>\n It was another win for Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>\u00a0as she continued her domination in one of her Olympic gold medal races. Hosszu won in 56.44, well ahead of Ukraine’s\u00a0Darya Zevina<\/strong>, who clocked 57.26 after taking down Hosszu in the 200 back Saturday.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Cheng Haihua<\/strong> was a comfortable third-place finisher in 58.05.<\/p>\n From there, there was a big gap to the rest of the field as Hong Kong’s\u00a0Lau Yin Yan<\/strong> (1:00.29) and France’s\u00a0Cammile Gheorghiu<\/strong> (1:01.19) were fourth and fifth, respectively.\u00a0Slovakia’s Barbora Tomanova<\/strong> finished just one one-hundredth behind Gheorghui in 1:01.20.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Liu Haiyun\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.85), New Zealand’s\u00a0Lucy Agnew<\/strong> (1:02.97), New Zealand’s\u00a0Greta Agnew\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.14) and Singapore’s\u00a0Liew Li-Shan<\/strong> (1:04.68) completed the field.<\/p>\n Belarus’\u00a0Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> blasted the men’s 50 back and took the win in 23.05. He was about a quarter-second ahead of Australia’s\u00a0Bobby Hurley<\/strong>, who came in 23.31, and Spain’s\u00a0Miguel Ortiz-Canavante<\/strong> grabbed third in 23.48, just four-one-hundredths ahead of\u00a0Japan’s\u00a0Takeshi Kawamoto<\/strong> (23.52).<\/p>\n Justin Kraatz<\/strong> finished fifth in 25.30, and\u00a0Malcolm Low<\/strong> was next in 26.11. Also competing in the final were\u00a0Aziz Jaouhar<\/strong> (28.61),\u00a0Abdeirahman Mohamed<\/strong> (30.33),\u00a0Marwan Elghobary<\/strong> (30.59) and\u00a0Sanad Abdulla\u00a0<\/strong>(31.64).<\/p>\n There were only six women in the 200 fly, but there was no way to split the top two.\u00a0Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Madeline Groves<\/strong> led for almost the entire length of the race, but\u00a0Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> was charging hard. The two ended up touching at the exact same time, 2:03.34.<\/p>\n Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakobos<\/strong> grabbed third in 2:07.12, ahead of Hong Kong’s\u00a0Chan Kin Lok\u00a0<\/strong>(2:08.78), Singapore’s\u00a0Nicholle Toh<\/strong> (2:13.35) and China’s\u00a0Yang Chang<\/strong> (2:17.69).<\/p>\n Japan’s\u00a0Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>held off a charging\u00a0Phillip Heintz<\/strong> to take first in the 200 IM. Seto came in at 1:52.49, and Germany’s Heintz had to settle for second in 1:52.81.<\/p>\n The USA’s\u00a0Josh Prenot<\/strong> pulled ahead of Colombia’s\u00a0Omar Pinzon<\/strong> on the breaststroke leg, and then then exploded on the freestyle leg to finish third in 1:54.65.<\/p>\n Pinzon (1:58.88) then had to hold off Chinese teammates\u00a0Wang Boyu<\/strong> (1:59.13) and\u00a0Jiang Tiansheng<\/strong> (1:59.42).<\/p>\n Adam Halas<\/strong> (2:00.11),\u00a0Taki Mrabet<\/strong> (2:04.40),\u00a0Aleksa Bobar<\/strong> (2:05.35) and\u00a0Cameron Matthews<\/strong> (2:08.08) also made the final.<\/p>\n Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>earned yet another come-from-behind win in the 400 free, taking over the lead with a blistering 58.64 final 100 meters. She touched in 4:03.94, out-pacing China’s\u00a0Fang Yi<\/strong>, who settled for second in 4:04.82.<\/p>\n Hungary’s\u00a0Zsuzsanna Jakobos<\/strong> ended up taking third once again in 4:06.50.<\/p>\n China went 4-5 in the race with Zhang Jiaqi<\/strong> (4:11.35) and\u00a0Liu Haiyun<\/strong>\u00a0(4:14.55). Also in the field were Slovenia’s Spela Bohnic<\/strong> (4:14.58), Ukraine’s\u00a0Darya Zevina<\/strong> (4:19.88), China’s Cheng Haihua\u00a0<\/strong>(4:28.62) and South Africa’s\u00a0Bianca Pera\u00a0<\/strong>(4:37.82).<\/p>\n Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted his way to the top of the podium as he so often does, stopping the clock in 21.05 for gold. Taking second behind the Russian was Great Britain’s\u00a0Benjamin Proud\u00a0<\/strong>in 21.22. South Africa’s\u00a0Chad le Clos\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three in 21.34. Just .01 behind him was Japan’s\u00a0Shinri Shioura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n South Africa took fifth and seventh with\u00a0Bradley Tandy\u00a0<\/strong>(21.48) and\u00a0Roland Schoeman\u00a0<\/strong>(21.62). Between the duo was Japan’s\u00a0Katsumi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>(21.54). Spain’s \u00a0Miguel Ortiz-Canavate\u00a0<\/strong>(21.62), Ukraine’s\u00a0Andrii Khloptsov\u00a0<\/strong>(22.06) and Egypt’s\u00a0M. Elkamash\u00a0<\/strong>(22.32) completed the final.<\/p>\n In a small five person field, five nations were represented.\u00a0Rie Kaneto\u00a0<\/strong>won the title for Japan in 2:15.76. Behind her was Russia’s Yuliya Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:!6.39.\u00a0American\u00a0Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>was third (2:19.32).<\/p>\n Tessa Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia (2:25.47) and France’s\u00a0Damille Dauba\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.94) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>took home another gold medal this World Cup series, stopping the clock in 57.92. Also finishing under a minute was\u00a0Katie Meili\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA in 59.19. Fellow breaststroker\u00a0Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:00.51 for third.<\/p>\n Slovakia’s\u00a0Andrea Podmanikova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.13) finished fourth before Latvia’s\u00a0Gabriela Nikitina\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.82) finished fifth.<\/p>\n Hong Kong’s\u00a0Yin Yan Claudia LAu\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.96), South Africa’s\u00a0CAroux De Lange\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.75) and Bahrain’s\u00a0Alzain Tarew\u00a0<\/strong>(1:23.04) wrapped up the final.<\/p>\n Bobby Hurley\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:51.70 to win the event. Columbia’s\u00a0Omar Pinzon Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.56) followed the Australian. Russia’s\u00a0Stanislav Donetc\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.93) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n Dalya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan finished fourth in 2:00.41 ahead of Singapore’s\u00a0Malcolm Low\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.28).\u00a0Justin Kraatz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.99) was sixth while Qatar’s\u00a0Abdulaziz Al-Obaidly\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.37) and\u00a0Mesalam Abdulla\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.73) completed the final.<\/p>\n Denmark’s\u00a0Jeanette Ottesen\u00a0<\/strong>was dominant, clocking a 25.13. Hosszu could only manage a second in this race with her 25.98. Australia’s\u00a0Madeline Groves\u00a0<\/strong>(26.14) was third.\u00a0Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>was just shy of the podium in this event, finishing in 26.36.<\/p>\n Brittany Emlslie\u00a0<\/strong>(26.41) of Australia and American\u00a0Katie Meili\u00a0<\/strong>(26.92) also posted 26s.\u00a0Daryna Zevina\u00a0<\/strong>of Ukraine was seventh in 27.12. Taking eighth through tenth were Russia’s\u00a0Natalia Lovtcova\u00a0<\/strong>(27.37), Singapore’s\u00a0Nicholle Toh\u00a0<\/strong>(27.55) and\u00a0Hong Kong’s\u00a0Kin Lok Chan\u00a0<\/strong>(29.91).<\/p>\n Gergely Gyurta<\/strong> of Hungary clocked the fastest time in the finals heat of the men’s 1500 free with a 14:32.69 finish.<\/p>\n South Africa’s\u00a0Myles Brown<\/strong> took second overall with a final time of 14:49.64, while Germany’s\u00a0Poul Zellmann<\/strong> was third with a 14:51.58 finish.<\/p>\n Picking up fourth was Colombia’s\u00a0Omar Pinzon Garcia<\/strong> and his time of 15:42.41, followed by the Czech Republic’s\u00a0Jakub Karl’s<\/strong> 15:51.05.<\/p>\n Dante Nortje<\/strong> of South Africa finished sixth overall with a 15:56.50.<\/p>\n Seventh went to Qatar’s\u00a0Abdelrahman Mohamed’s<\/strong> 17:05.23, while\u00a0A.
