The final stop of the second cluster of the 2016 FINA\/airweave World Cup Series kicked off today in Doha, Qatar.<\/p>\n
Vlad Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>continued to lead the men’s 100 free with a top qualifying time of 48.08 from prelims, while\u00a0Chad le Clos<\/strong> returns as the second place seed with a 48.48.<\/p>\n Morozov added a top seed in the men’s 100 IM with a qualifying time of 54.92, while le Clos returns as the top seed in the 50 fly with a 23.38.<\/p>\n Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>turned in the top time in the women’s 200 free prelims, stopping the clock at a 2:02.20. Hosszu, who has experienced great success on the World Cup series, enters finals with 189 World Cup golds to her name and will look to make her way to 200.<\/p>\n With\u00a0Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> sitting out the second cluster\u00a0Felipe Lima\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Vlad Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>continue to lead the men’s 50 breaststroke. The two qualified for finals a shy .05 seconds apart with times of 26.85 and 26.90 respectively.<\/p>\n The women’s 100 breaststroke continues to be highlighted\u00a0by the same dynamic group of five women, led this round by\u00a0Rie Kaneto\u00a0<\/strong>and her qualifying time of 1:06.11. Kaneto will be joined in finals by\u00a0Yulia Efimova, Katie Meili, Alia Atkinson,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Breeja Larson.<\/strong><\/p>\n The women’s 100 fly finals will be highlighted by a battle for the gold between\u00a0Jeanette Ottesen\u00a0<\/strong>and Hosszu. The two qualified as the top seeds with times of 59.28 and 59.33 respectively.<\/p>\n Ottesen also turned in the top qualifying time for the women’s 50 free, posting the only sub 25-second swim at a 24.87.<\/p>\n Daryna Zevina<\/strong> and Hosszu continue their backstroke rivalry with the top two seeds in both the women’s 50 and 200 back. Zevina owns the top seed in both with times of 27.31 and 2:07.67, while Hosszu returns as the second seed with times of 28.23 and 2:08.30.<\/p>\n Takeshi Kawamoto\u00a0<\/strong>posted the top time in prelims of the men’s 100 back, qualifying first with a 52.83.<\/p>\n Y. Elkamash\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>turned in qualifying times .10 seconds apart i the men’s 200 breaststroke to enter finals as the first and second place seeds.
