The Danish Swimming Union\u00a0announced today<\/a> that Nick Juba<\/strong>\u00a0will not return as head coach for Denmark upon the\u00a0expiration of his contract at the end of the year. The upcoming FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada will serve as Juba’s last meet at the helm of Danish swimming.<\/p>\n

Denmark experienced a vast array of success under Juba’s leadership with 2016 being their best finish at a Summer Olympic Games in 68 years. Additionally, from the period of 2013-16 Danish swimming secured 26 medals and 46 fourth to eighth place finishes at the LCM European Championships, World Cup, and Olympics.<\/p>\n

Juba reflected on his time as the head coach, noting,<\/p>\n

I’ve been happy both to lead and contribute to Danish swimming sports international success over the past four years. I have been fortunate to work with some amazing people in Denmark, and of course I will miss them. I was hired in Denmark with the Olympic Games in Rio as one of my most important tasks. And we are well over now. A new Olympic cycle is beginning to take shape, so it is an opportune time to pass the baton to a new team, which I believe can achieve even greater success for Danish swim sport. And personally I am looking forward to a new challenge and a new adventure!\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lars Green Bach<\/span><\/strong>, sports manager for the Danish Swimming Union, commented that,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the period Nick Juba has spearheaded Denmark, we have achieved remarkable international results for a swim nation the size of Denmark. It is highly Nick’s profit. And as I see it, he has had great success in redeeming the international potential thta was present in the strong foundation he took over in 2013.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Union will honor Juba in November at the Danish Short Course Championships in Esbjerg.<\/p>\n

Dean Boles<\/strong>, a national coach for Denmark, will take over as the interim head coach beginning January 1, 2017 as the Union\u00a0searches for a replacement.<\/p>\n
