The Utes will take part in the\u00a0Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers as well as the Intermountain Shootout in Grand Junction, Colo. Both will begin on Friday, Oct. 7 and run through <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635511\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Oct. 8<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis should be a great couple days of racing for all of the swimmers,\u201d said Utah head coach Joe Dykstra. \u201cThe unique format of the FGCU Classic only permits 12 men and 12 women to compete there, and we will be challenged by a great field of teams from across the country.\u00a0 The rest of our team will also have their hands full with a lot of regional rivals at the Intermountain Shootout.\u00a0 I\u2019m really looking forward to seeing all of the hard training we\u2019ve been doing start to pay off with racing at both competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>FLORIDA GULF COAST INVITATIONAL<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There will be a total of eight teams competing this week with the Utes facing squads host FGCU, South Carolina, LSU, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Rutgers and Grand Canyon.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635512\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday\u2019s<\/span><\/span> competition will begin at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635513\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5 p.m. ET<\/span><\/span> with <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635514\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday<\/span><\/span> beginning at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635515\"><span class=\"aQJ\">10:30 a.m. ET<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This is Utah&#8217;s first time competing in this meet<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/fgcuathletics.com\/sports\/2016\/9\/21\/2016-fgcu-classic.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/fgcuathletics.com\/sports\/2016\/9\/21\/2016-fgcu-classic.aspx&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1475708958088000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG8Xfp-5k5QmHcXN4fhl0U49bBArQ\">http:\/\/fgcuathletics.com\/sport<wbr \/>s\/2016\/9\/21\/2016-fgcu-classic.<wbr \/>aspx<\/a>. This was the squad\u2019s first Pac-12 Conference meet of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The women won 10 events during the meet with Jordan Anderson and Stina Colleou each collecting a pair of victories. Anderson captured the 200 fly (2:05.16) as well as the 500 free (5:07.70), while Colleou took first in the 100 breast (1:04.29) and the 200 breast (2:18.48).<\/p>\n<p>Other wins for the Utes were captured by Kat Wickham (1,000 free, 10:33.79), Sarah Lott (200 free, 1:52.51), Dorien Butter (100 free, 51.39), Kristine Pataray (50 free, 24.01) and Darby Wayner (100 fly, 56.32).<\/p>\n<p>In relay action, the team of Megan Kawaguchi, Mariah Gassaway, Pataray and Gillian St. John took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.82.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first bit of regular-season competition for the men\u2019s team after a non-scoring relay meet vs. BYU on Sept. 22.<\/p>\n<p><b>UP NEXT<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Utah welcomes Arizona State and Arizona to Ute Natatorium, <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1885635520\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct. 21-22<\/span><\/span>.
