Frank<\/strong> Busch<\/strong>, USA Swimming\u2019s national team director, took the time to offer\u00a0his take on the Rio Games\u2014the good, the bad and the ugly–for\u00a0Swimming World Magazine.<\/em><\/p>\n

USA National Team Director Frank<\/strong> Busch<\/strong> convened with the 2016 U.S. Olympic team three different times leading up to the Rio Games. Each meeting had a theme. Each theme played a role in stra- tegically building momentum before Olympic racing commenced. At the three meetings, one at each training camp (San Antonio and Atlanta) and one before the start of the Games, Busch emphasized the importance of preparation, performance, and pride.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe national anthem\u2014that\u2019s our fight song at the Olympics,\u201d Busch said. So,\u00a0when an American stood atop\u00a0the podium mouthing the\u00a0words to \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d\u2014Team USA\u2019s All-American fight song\u2014as tears streamed down his or her\u00a0cheeks, the sense of pride was palpable.<\/p>\n
