The Hokies added a verbal commitment from in-state talent\u00a0<strong>Joelle Vereb.\u00a0<\/strong>Vereb swims for the young club 757 Swim where she is a versatile sprinter.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 Back 25.94<\/li>\n<li>100 Back 55.40<\/li>\n<li>100 Fly 53.79<\/li>\n<li>100 Breast 1:02.88<\/li>\n<li>100 Free 50.40<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vereb\u00a0explained, &#8220;I am very excited to commit to Virginia Tech. The team, coaching staff, and campus community were awesome! \u00a0I can&#8217;t wait to be a part of this special group!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She swims for Jamestown High School. At this year&#8217;s Virginia 4A State Championships, Vereb will return as the defending champion in the 100 fly (54.63) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.15).<\/p>\n<p>Vereb will join a recruiting class that includes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/virginia-tech-is-on-a-roll-picks-up-verbal-from-tatum-hackler\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tatum Hackler<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hokies-add-another-to-class-of-2021-molly-sheffield-stays-in-state\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Molly Sheffield<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/virginia-tech-nabs-backstroker-heather-sigmon-for-2017-2018-season\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Heather Sigmon<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nicole-pape-announces-verbal-commitment-to-virginia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nicole Pape<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/backstroker-emily-meilus-gives-verbal-commitment-to-virginia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Meilus<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>Hacker also has great sprinting stroke range while Sigmon and Meilus are primarily backstrokers. Pape is more breaststroke and IM focused and Sheffield will be a great match for Vereb in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 fifth place Hokies will welcome points from Vereb at ACCs.
