She spoke from the backyard of her parents&#8217; house in Zimbabwe while accompanied by her husband,\u00a0<strong>Tyrone Seward<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FOfficialKirstyCoventry%2Fvideos%2F1210077355724863%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=400\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Coventry will have plenty on her plate in retirement as she joins the International Surfing Association (ISA) as a Vice President, replacing\u00a0Australia&#8217;s Layne Beachley. Surfing is coming onto the radar as it prepares to make it&#8217;s Olympic debut at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;I am thrilled to be joining the ISA team as Vice President at such an exciting time following surfing&#8217;s inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games,&#8221; Coventry said in a statement to\u00a0<em>Swimming World<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve been in Portugal for the last couple days at the VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, and it&#8217;s been incredible to watch young athletes from around the world embrace each other, respect each other and compete at the highest level. I am looking forward to getting to work as we prepare for the sports ground-breaking debut in Tokyo and beyond.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coventry figures to be an important link between the ISA and International Olympic Committee as she has severed on the IOC&#8217;s Athletes&#8217; Commission for several years.
