The Cuban came home in Paralympic record time of 1:04.70. Earning silver was\u00a0<strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo\u00a0<\/strong>of Columbia with a 1:05.37. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oleksandr Komarov\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.21) edged China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hongguang Jia\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.28) for bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thijs Van Hofweegen\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands finished fifth in 1:08.05. Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Haanappel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.24) was just faster than Columbia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oscar Osorio Campaz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.45) and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Francesco Bocciardo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.64).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Freestyle S6<\/h3>\n<p>Ukrainian swimmers seem set to follow their dominance through the final evening.\u00a0<strong>Yelyzaveta Mereshko\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.40) and\u00a0<strong>Viktoriia Savtsova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.47) earned gold and silver. Mereshko&#8217;s time was also a new Paralympic and World Record. Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ellie Robinson\u00a0<\/strong>out touched China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lingling Song\u00a0<\/strong>1:14.43 to 1:14.46 to earn bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eleanor Simmonds\u00a0<\/strong>of Britain finished fifth in 1:15.77.\u00a0<strong>Tiffany Thomas Kane\u00a0<\/strong>(1:17.56) of Australia,\u00a0<strong>Emanuela Romano\u00a0<\/strong>(1:18.34) of Italy and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vianney Trejo Delgadillo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:22.05) completed the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200 IM\u2013SM8<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Oliver Hynd\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain made it two in a row for Paralympic and world record tonight, finishing in 2:20.01. Less than a second behind was\u00a0<strong>Maodang Song\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:20.79. Taking bronze was his Chinese teammate\u00a0<strong>Haijiao Xu\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:21.19.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing fourth was\u00a0<strong>Robert Griswold\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.99) of the USA.\u00a0<strong>Guanglong Yang\u00a0<\/strong>of China was fifth with a 2:27.87.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jesse Aungles\u00a0<\/strong>(2:28.96), Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Niels Mortensen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:29.77) and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charles Rozoy\u00a0<\/strong>(2:33.82) completed the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200 IM\u2013SM8<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jessica Long\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA led after the butterfly, but Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Millward\u00a0<\/strong>took over at the halfway mark.\u00a0<strong>Mallory Weggemann\u00a0<\/strong>was in third after the backstroke. Long shot ahead in the breaststroke and built a lead too great. The American stopped the clock in 2:40.23 to claim gold. Millward finished second in 2:43.03.\u00a0<strong>Lakeisha Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia finished third with a 2:45.22.<\/p>\n<p>In fourth was China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shenghan Jiang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:47.15). Weggemann wound up fifth with a 2:48.95.\u00a0<strong>Maddison Elliot\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia placed sixth in 2:49.67. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Weiyuan Lu\u00a0<\/strong>(2:50.96) and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abi Tripp\u00a0<\/strong>(2:55.08) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Freestyle -S12<\/h3>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maksym Veraksa\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted over a half second ahead of the field, winning gold in 23.67. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Illia Yaremenko\u00a0<\/strong>took bronze with a 24.41. Silver went to Azerbaijan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dzmitry Salei\u00a0<\/strong>in 24.29. With a 24.45 his teammate\u00a0<strong>Raman Salei\u00a0<\/strong>finished just off the podium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuker Dupree\u00a0<\/strong>of the United States was fifth in 24.49.\u00a0Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charalampos Taiganidis\u00a0<\/strong>(24.99), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sergii Klippert\u00a0<\/strong>(25.00) and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomaz Matera\u00a0<\/strong>(25.13) were sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Freestyle -S12<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Hannah Russell\u00a0<\/strong>had an even larger margin of victory than the men. She touched in 27.53 to claim gold for Great Britain.\u00a0<strong>Naomi Maike Schnittger\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 28.38 for silver for Germany. Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maria Delgado Nadal\u00a0<\/strong>completed the podium in 29.03.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anabel Moro\u00a0<\/strong>of Argentina edged Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maryna Stabrovska\u00a0<\/strong>30.01 to 30.02. Venezuela&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Belkis Mota\u00a0<\/strong>(30.47), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yaryna MAtlo\u00a0<\/strong>(30.65) and Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emely Telle\u00a0<\/strong>(30.87) completed the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Freestyle -S4<\/h3>\n<p>Breaking the 40 second barrier was\u00a0<strong>Gi Seong Jo.\u00a0<\/strong>The Korean struck gold with a 39.30. France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Smetanine\u00a0<\/strong>snagged silver in 40.58 and bronze went to Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrii Derevinskyi\u00a0<\/strong>in 40.94.<\/p>\n<p>Slovenia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Darko Duric\u00a0<\/strong>(41.21), Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arnost Petracek\u00a0<\/strong>(41.55) and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gustavo Sanchez Martinez\u00a0<\/strong>(41.99) were just behind.<\/p>\n<p>Petracek&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Jan Povysil\u00a0<\/strong>(42.73) and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ronystony Cordeiro\u00a0<\/strong>(43.51) placed seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Freestyle -S4<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Rachel Watson\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 40.13. The Australian won gold ahead of Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arjola Trimi\u00a0<\/strong>(40.51). Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nely Miranda Herrera\u00a0<\/strong>was just .01 back with a bronze medal finish of 40.53.<\/p>\n<p>Kazakhstan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zulifya Gabidullina\u00a0<\/strong>(42.24), China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jiao Cheng\u00a0<\/strong>(43.13) and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patricia Pereira Dos Santos\u00a0<\/strong>(43.92) were fourth through sixth. Wrapping up the heat were the Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Lisette Teunissen\u00a0<\/strong>(45.56) and Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mariia Lafina\u00a0<\/strong>(48.31).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Backstroke S13<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ihar Boki<\/strong> of Belarus stormed past his World Record in the men&#8217;s 100 back S13 to set the new record at a sizzling 56.68. Boki&#8217;s previous World Record was a 56.74.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Iaroslav Denysenko\u00a0<\/strong>and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicolas Guy Turbide<\/strong> both slid beneath the one minute mark with times of 59.02 and 59.55 for second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirill Pankov<\/strong> of Uzbekistan finished fourth overall with a 1:00.44, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sean Russo&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:01.43.<\/p>\n<p>Finland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Antti Latikka\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.84), Uzbekistan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Muzaffar Tursunkhujaev\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.80), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Devin Gotell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.62) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Backstroke S13<\/h3>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna Stetsenko\u00a0<\/strong>powered to a new Paralympic Record in the women&#8217;s 100 back S13, stopping the clock at a 1:08.30.<\/p>\n<p>The silver medal went to Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abby Kane\u00a0<\/strong>and her time of 1:09.30, while Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katja Dedekind<\/strong> claimed the bronze with a 1:12.25.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Colleen Young<\/strong> was a close fourth with a final 1:12.93, followed by Slovakia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Karina Petrikovicova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:14.61) and The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Sanne Hofman\u00a0<\/strong>(1:14.70).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenna Jones\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia and\u00a0<strong>Anastasia Zudzilava\u00a0<\/strong>of Belarus took seventh and eighth with times of 1:15.14 and 1:16.32 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Free S5<\/h3>\n<p>Hometown favorite\u00a0<strong>Daniel Dias\u00a0<\/strong>swam to gold in the mens&#8217; 100 free S5, turning in a final time of 1:10.11.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roy Perkins<\/strong> of the USA added another silver to his medal collection, stopping the clock at a 1:14.55, while Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Mullen<\/strong> finished third overall with a time of 1:15.93.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sebastian Rodriguez<\/strong> of Spain took fourth with a 1:17.10, followed by Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thanh Tung Vo&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:18.02.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Theo Curin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:18.68), Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Scully\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.18), Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Clodoaldo Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.80) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free S5<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Zhang Li<\/strong> of China delivered a first place finish in the women&#8217;s 100 free S5, stopping the clock at a 1:18.85.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Teresa Perales<\/strong>, the current World Record holder in this event, finished second overall with a 1:20.47, while\u00a0<strong>Joana Maria Silva<\/strong> added another medal to Brazil&#8217;s medal count with a third place finish of 1:23.21.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yao Cuan\u00a0<\/strong>of China turned in a 1:23.99 for fourth, followed by Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Inbal Pezaro&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:24.04.<\/p>\n<p>Norway&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>(1:25.04), Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mayumi Narita\u00a0<\/strong>(1:26.39), and the Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bela Trebinova<\/strong> (1:27.59) posted sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM SM14<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Marc Evers<\/strong> of The Netherlands posted a new Paralympic Record in finals of the men&#8217;s 200 IM SM14 en route to his way to gold. Evers stopped the clock at a 2:10.29 to finish more than two seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Hamer<\/strong> turned in a 2:12.88 for the silver medal, while the bronze medal went to Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keichi Nakajima<\/strong> and his time of 2:!5.46.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Won Sang Cho<\/strong> of Korea finished fourth overall with a 2:17.76, while fifth went to Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Takuya Tsugawa&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2:18.03.<\/p>\n<p>Iceland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jon Margeir Sverrisson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.61), Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Liam Schluter\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.85), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gordie Michie\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.88) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 IM SM14<\/h3>\n<p>The British duo of\u00a0<strong>Bethany Firth\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jessica-Jane Applegate\u00a0<\/strong>delivered a 1-2 finish in the last individual event of day 10 to add two more medals to Great Britain&#8217;s medal count. Firth lowered her Paralympic Record of 2:23.78 to a sizzling 2:19.55 on her way to gold. Applegate posted a final time of 2:27.58 for the silver.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Marlou van der Kulk\u00a0<\/strong>took third overall with a 2:29.49, well ahead of Sweden&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pernilla Lindberg&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>3:36.30.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth place went to Belgium&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michelle Franssen<\/strong> and her time of 2:36.54, while\u00a0<strong>Magda Toeters<\/strong> of The Netherlands finished a close sixth with a 2:36.56.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Syuci Indriani<\/strong> of Indonesia and\u00a0<strong>Michelle Alonso Morales\u00a0<\/strong>of Spain were seventh and eighth with times of 2:40.64 and 2:44.87 respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along live with the final session of swimming at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
