Four 1:08s followed as China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hongguang Jia\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.38), the NEtherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Thijs Van Hofweegen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.48), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oleksandr Komarov\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.50) and Columbia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.54) finished second through fifth. Crispin Corzo&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Oscar Osorio Campaz\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth this morning in 1:09.56.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out tonight&#8217;s final were\u00a0<strong>Francesco Bocciardo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.63) of Italy and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Haanappel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.96).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free &#8211; S6<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Yelyzaveta Mereshko\u00a0<\/strong>touched in Paralympic record time of 1:12.49 this morning. Her Ukranian teammate\u00a0<strong>Viktoriia Savtsova <\/strong>secured the second seed in 1:15.04. British teammates\u00a0<strong>Eleanor Simmonds\u00a0<\/strong>(1:16.39) and\u00a0<strong>Ellie Robinson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:16.76) followed. In fifth this morning was Australian\u00a0<strong>Tiffany Thomas Kane\u00a0<\/strong>with a 1:17.75.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lingling Song\u00a0<\/strong>(1:18.50), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emanuela Romano\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.15) and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vianney Trejo Delgadillo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:22.39) will also race again tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM8<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Oliver Hynd<\/strong> of Great Britain delivered the fastest time of the morning with a time of 2:25.48. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Song Maodang<\/strong> and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Robert Griswold\u00a0<\/strong>held a tight race in heat one posting times of 2:28.21 and 2:28.32 for the second and third place seeds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Xu Haijiao<\/strong> of China turned in a 2:28.88 for the fourth place seed, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jesse Aungles\u00a0<\/strong>(2:31.61).<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yang Guanglong\u00a0<\/strong>(2:32.77), Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Niels Mortensen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:32.98), and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charles Rozoy<\/strong> (2:33.35) return as sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM8<\/h3>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jessica Long<\/strong> led prelims of the women&#8217;s 200 IM SM8 with a qualifying time of 2:44.45.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Millward\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall with a time of 2:45.91, while the Australian duo of\u00a0<strong>Lakeisha Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:50.16) and\u00a0<strong>Maddison Elliott<\/strong> (2:52.42) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mallory Weggemann\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA posted a 2:53.04 for fifth, followed by the Chinese duo of\u00a0<strong>Jiang Shengnan\u00a0<\/strong>(2:54.81) and\u00a0<strong>Lu Weiyuan\u00a0<\/strong>(2:55.25).<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abi Tripp\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 2:57.30.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S12<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Maksym Veraksa<\/strong> of Ukraine dashed to a first place seed of 23.74 in the men&#8217;s 50 free S12 prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Azerbaijan teammates\u00a0<strong>Dzmitry Salei<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Raman Salei\u00a0<\/strong>turned in similar times of 24.40 and 24.43 to return as the second and third place seeds respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Illia Yaremenko<\/strong> finished fourth in prelims with a 24.51, while the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tucker Dupree<\/strong> picked up fifth with a 24.62.<\/p>\n<p>Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charalampos Taiganidis<\/strong> (24.97), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sergii Klippert\u00a0<\/strong>(25.02), and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomaz Matera\u00a0<\/strong>(25.07) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S12<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Hannah Russell\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain delivered a 27.79 in prelims of the women&#8217;s 50 free S12 to qualify first for finals.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Naomi Maike Schnittger\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in prelims with a 28.87, while third went to Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maria Delgado Nadal&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>29.45.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukrainian duo of\u00a0<strong>Maryna Stabrovska\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Yaryna Matlo\u00a0<\/strong>posted times of 29.90 and 30.16 for fourth and fifth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Argentina&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anabel Moro\u00a0<\/strong>(30.49), Venezuela&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Belkis Mota\u00a0<\/strong>(30.50), and Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emely Telle\u00a0<\/strong>(31.19) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S4<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nely Miranda Herrera\u00a0<\/strong>of Mexico touched first in prelims of the women&#8217;s 50 free S4 in Paralympic fashion with a time of 40.23.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rachael Watson\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 40.69 to qualify as a close second, while third went to Kazakhstan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zulfiya Gabidullina\u00a0<\/strong>and her time of 42.28.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arjola Trimi\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy took fourth with a 42.60, followed by Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patricia Pereira Dos Santos\u00a0<\/strong>(44.10).<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cheng Jiao<\/strong> (44.62), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mariia Lafina\u00a0<\/strong>(45.94), and The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Lisette Teunissen<\/strong> (48.16) return tonight as sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Back&#8211;S13<\/h3>\n<p>Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ihar Boki\u00a0<\/strong>flirted with a new World Record in prelims of the men&#8217;s 100 back S13, posting a qualifying time of 56.82. Boki&#8217;s time sets a new Paralympic Record and sits a shy .08 seconds off his World Record of 56.74.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicolas Guy Turbide\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 59.93 for the second place seed, marking him as the only other athlete to post a sub-one minute time.<\/p>\n<p>Uzbekistan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kirill Pankov\u00a0<\/strong>and Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Iaroslav Denysenko\u00a0<\/strong>delivered close times of 1:01.21 and 1:01.56 in heat one to qualify as the third and fourth place seeds. Finland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Antti Latikka\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 1:01.93 to claim fifth from the same heat.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sean Russo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.19), Uzbekistan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Muzaffar Tursunkhujaev<\/strong> (1:04.58), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Devin Gotell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.56) completed the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Back&#8211;S13<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Abby Kane<\/strong>of Great Britain turned in a 1:09.09 in prelims of the women&#8217;s 100 back S13 for a new Paralympic Record.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna stetsenko\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock at a 1:10.38 for second, followed by the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Colleen Young<\/strong> and her time of 1:13.44.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katja Dedekind<\/strong> of Australia picked up fourth with a 1:14.61, while Slovakia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Karina Petrikovicova\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth with a 1:14.68.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Sanne Hofman\u00a0<\/strong>(1:15.00), Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jenna Jones\u00a0<\/strong>(1:15.62), and Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Anastasiya Zudzilava\u00a0<\/strong>(1:15.72) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S5<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Daniel Dias\u00a0<\/strong>continued to thrill his home crowd of Brazil by qualifying first in the men&#8217;s 100 free S5 with a time of 1:15.08.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Roy Perkins\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in prelims with a 1:17.54, while Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thanh Tung Vo<\/strong> was third with a 1:17.64.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sebastian Rodriguez<\/strong> of Spain claimed fourth with a time of 1:18.12, followed by France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Theo Curin&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:19.04.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Mullen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:19.58), Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Clodoaldo Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.16), and Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Scully\u00a0<\/strong>(1:21.15) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S5<\/h3>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zhang Li\u00a0<\/strong>posted the fastest time of the morning in the women&#8217;s 100 free S5 at a 1:22.83.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Teresa Perales\u00a0<\/strong>and Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Inbal Pezaro\u00a0<\/strong>join Zhang in the middle of the pool with qualifying times of 1:24.37 and 1:24.38 respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yao Cuan\u00a0<\/strong>of China turned in a 1:24.44 for the fourth place seed, followed closely by Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joana Maria Silva<\/strong> and her time of 1:24.57.<\/p>\n<p>Norway&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>(1:26.41), Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mayumi Narita\u00a0<\/strong>(1:26.91), and the Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bela Trebinova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:27.60) qualified sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM14<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Marc Evers<\/strong> of The Netherlands posted a sizzling 2:12.07 to set a new Paralympic Record and return as the top seed for the men&#8217;s 200 IM SM14.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keichi Nakajima<\/strong> and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Hamer\u00a0<\/strong>posted similar times of 2:16.00 and 2:16.28 to qualify second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Won Sang Cho<\/strong> of Korea turned in a 2:17.40 for fourth, while the fifth place seed went to Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Takuya Tsugawa<\/strong> (2:18.45).<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Liam Schluter\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.59), Iceland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jon Margeir Sverrisson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.56), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gordie Michie\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.85) also qualified for tonight&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;S 200 IM&#8211;SM14<\/h3>\n<p>The Paralympic Record fell twice during the two prelims heats of the women&#8217;s 200 IM SM14.\u00a0<strong>Jessica-Jane Applegate<\/strong> of Great Britain first lowered it to a 2:30.11 in heat one before British teammate\u00a0<strong>Bethany Firth<\/strong> slid the record down to a sizzling 2:23.78 in heat two.
