He was followed closely by Greece&#8217;s D<strong>imosthenis Michalentzakis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.91) and Croatia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kristijan Vincetic<\/strong> (1:01.92).<\/p>\n<p>Cuba&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Juan Castillo Estevez\u00a0<\/strong>took fifth in prelims with a 1:02.04, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brenden Hall<\/strong> (1:02.11).<\/p>\n<p>Argentina&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marco Pulleiro\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.25) and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jose Antonio Mari Alcaraz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.39) finished seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly&#8211;S9<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xu Jialing<\/strong> led prelims of the women&#8217;s 100 fly S9 with a time of 1:09.43. Finishing close behind was Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Claire Cashmore\u00a0<\/strong>and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Smith<\/strong> with times of 1:09.77 and 1:09.95 respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarai Gascon\u00a0<\/strong>of Spain took fourth in prelims with a 1:10.59, just ahead of Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zsofia Konkoly&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:10.75.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ellen Keane<\/strong>\u00a0took sixth with a 1:10.95, while the Australian duo of\u00a0<strong>Madeleine Scott<\/strong> (1:10.96) and\u00a0<strong>Emily Beecroft<\/strong> (1:10.97) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Breast&#8211;SB6<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo<\/strong> of Colombia and\u00a0<strong>Ievgenii Bogodaiko<\/strong> of Ukraine kept a tight race in prelims of the men&#8217;s 100 breast SB6, finishing .14 seconds apart. Corzo stopped the clock first at a 1:22.74, just ahead of Bogodaiko&#8217;s 1:22.88.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Torben Schmidtke\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three qualifiers with a 1:24.61 showing.<\/p>\n<p>Norway&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andreas Skaar Bjornstad<\/strong> took fourth with a 1:28.78, followed by a close race between China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Di Yingbin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:29.70) and Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christoph Burkard\u00a0<\/strong>(1:29.90).<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Antoni Ponce Bertran<\/strong> finished seventh with a 1:30.49, while The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Thijs van Hofweegen\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 1:31.12.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Breast&#8211;SB6<\/h3>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tiffany Thomas Kane\u00a0<\/strong>surged ahead of the competition in prelims of the women&#8217;s 100 breast SB6 to stop the clock in Paralympic Record fashion at a 1:35.43. Kane currently holds the World Record at a 1:34.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlotte Henshaw\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain and\u00a0<strong>Sophia Elizabeth Herzog<\/strong> of the USA kept a tight race throughout, finishing .11 seconds apart. Henshaw claimed the second place seed with a 1:38.11 over Herzog&#8217;s 1:38,22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tanya Huebner<\/strong> of Australia posted a 1:42.66 to return as the fourth place seed, followed by Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eleanor Simmonds\u00a0<\/strong>(1:43.49).<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Reilly Boyt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:44.35), Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicole Turner\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.13), and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kate Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.21) completed the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 400 Free&#8211;S10<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Maksym Krypak<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Denys Duborv<\/strong> of Ukraine continued to deliver close finishes with a 1-3 qualification in prelims of the men&#8217;s 400 free S10. Krypak claimed the first place seed at a 4:05.72, while Dubrov turned in a 4:10.30 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bas Takken<\/strong> delivered a 4:08.60 finish for the second place seed.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Benoit Huot\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in prelims with a time of 4:10.58, while Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guy Harrison-Murray<\/strong> was fifth with a 4:11.54.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dmytro Vanzenko\u00a0<\/strong>(4:13.33), Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andre Brasil\u00a0<\/strong>(4:13.34), and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rowan Crothers\u00a0<\/strong>(4:13.72) were sixth through eighth respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free&#8211;S10<\/h3>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aurelie Rivard\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a time of 4:40.86 to claim the first place seed in tonight&#8217;s finals of the women&#8217;s 400 free S10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bianka Pap<\/strong> of Hungary took second overall with a time of 4:42.81, while third went to Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stefanny Rubi Cristino Zapata<\/strong> (4:43.98).<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elodie Lorandi\u00a0<\/strong>posted a time of 4:45.13 for fourth, ahead of Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Monique Murphy<\/strong> and her time of 4:46.58.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oliwia Jablonska<\/strong> (4:47.30), The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Marije Oosterhuis\u00a0<\/strong>(4:48.71), and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anaelle Roulet\u00a0<\/strong>(4:51.03) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM5<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>of Norway surged ahead of the competition in prelims of the women&#8217;s 200 IM SM5, stopping the clock at a 3:19.54.<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Inbal Pezaro<\/strong> was next to the wall with a 3:37.62, followed by Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Teresa Perales<\/strong> and her time of 3:40.65.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bela Trebinova\u00a0<\/strong>of the Czech Republic turned in a 3:41.06 for fourth, while fifth went to Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Natallia Shavel&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>3:41.11.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giulia Ghiretti\u00a0<\/strong> (3:47.63), Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Susana Ribeiro\u00a0<\/strong>(3:48.59), and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wu Qi\u00a0<\/strong>(3:49.44) took sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0Men&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bradley Snyder<\/strong> of the USA dashed ahead of the competition in the men&#8217;s 100 free S11 to qualify first with a time of 57.16&#8211;a new Paralympic Record. The World Record\u00a0in this event has stood since 1986 when the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>John Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>set it at Gothenburg.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yang Bozun\u00a0<\/strong>posted the only other sub-minute swim, earning the second place seed with a 59.74.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matheus Souza<\/strong> claimed third with a 1:00.17, just ahead of Belarus&#8217; H<strong>ryhory Zudzilau&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:00.27.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hendri Herbst<\/strong> of South Africa finished fifth in prelims with a 1:00.59, followed by Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wojciech Makowski&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:01.53.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keiichi Kimura<\/strong> (1:02.85) and the Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miroslav Smrcka\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.20) finished seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Liesette Bruinsma<\/strong> of The Netherlands delivered the fastest times in prelims of the women&#8217;s 100 free S11, finishing with a time of 1:08.97.<\/p>\n<p>A close race for second occurred between Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cecilia Camellini<\/strong> and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Li Guizhi<\/strong>. Camellini claimed the second place seed with a 1:09.10 finish over Li&#8217;s 1:09.22.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese teammate\u00a0<strong>Xie Qing\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 1:10.73 for fourth, followed by a close finish between New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Fisher\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.85) and Sweden&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maja Reichard\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.98).<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maryna Piddubna<\/strong> and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Letticia Martinez\u00a0<\/strong>were seventh and eighth with times of 1:13.00 and 1:13.86 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Back&#8211;S2<\/h3>\n<p>Prelims of the men&#8217;s 50 back S2 were led by the Chinese duo of\u00a0<strong>Liu Benying\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Zou Liankang<\/strong>. Liu delivered the fastest time, stopping the clock at a 52.14 over Zou&#8217;s 54.36. Fellow Chinese teammate\u00a0<strong>Yang Yang\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth with a 58.63.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Serhii Palamarchuk\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in prelims with a 57.98, while teammate\u00a0<strong>Roman Bondarenko<\/strong> took fifth with a 1:01.24.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacek Czech\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.28), Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aristeidis Makrodimitris\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.29), and Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ievgen Panibratets\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.18) completed the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Multiple Paralympic Records fell during prelims of day eight of the 2016 Paralympic Games, setting up for a swift finals session.
