Spain’s\u00a0Oscar Salguero Galisteo<\/strong> claimed gold in the men’s 100 breaststroke SB8, stopping the clock at a 1:11.11.<\/p>\n The silver medal was won by Italy’s\u00a0Federico Morlacchi<\/strong> and his time of 1:12.68, while the bronze went to Austria’s\u00a0Anderas Onea<\/strong> and his time of 1:14.44.<\/p>\n Dalton Herendeen<\/strong> of the USA posted a fourth place finish of 1:14.71, followed by France’s\u00a0Charles Rozoy<\/strong> (1:15.13).<\/p>\n Chinese teammates\u00a0Zhao Xueming\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Xu Haijao\u00a0<\/strong>took sixth and seventh with times of 1:15.35 and 1:27.56 respectively.<\/p>\n Katarina Roxon<\/strong> of Canada maintained her spot at the top of the leaderboard with a first place finish in the women’s 100 breast SB8, but not without some competition from Great Britain’s\u00a0Claire Cashmore.\u00a0<\/strong>Roxon delivered a 1:19.44, followed by Cashmore’s 1:20.60.<\/p>\n The podium was rounded out by Ireland’s\u00a0Ellen Keane<\/strong> and her final time of 1:23.07.<\/p>\n Poland’s\u00a0Paulina Wozniak\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth with a time of 1:25.04, ahead of Portugal’s\u00a0Joana Calado’s\u00a0<\/strong>1:25.96.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Xu Jialing<\/strong> (1:30.47), New Zealand’s\u00a0Nikita Howarth\u00a0<\/strong>(1:31.11), and Costa Rica’s\u00a0Camila Haase Quiros\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.17) finished sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n Finals of the men’s 400 free S7 was topped by the British duo of\u00a0Michael Jones<\/strong> and\u00a0Jonathan Fox<\/strong>. Oliver claimed first with a 1:02.24, just ahead of Kimura’s 1:02.43.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s\u00a0Oleksandr Mashchenko\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a final time of 1:03.38.<\/p>\n Bradley Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA finished fourth overall with a time of 1:03.52, followed by China’s\u00a0Lou Chenquan’s\u00a0<\/strong>1:06.99.<\/p>\n Belarus’\u00a0Hryhory Zudzilau\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.64), Cuba’s\u00a0Yunerki Ortega\u00a0<\/strong>(1:12.41), and Colombia’s\u00a0Leider Lemus Rojas\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.87) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n China swept the podium in finals of the men’s 50 breaststroke SB2.\u00a0Huang Wenpan<\/strong> once again took down the World and Paralympic Records, this time lowering it to a 50.65 after this morning’s 52.48.<\/p>\n Li Tingshen,\u00a0<\/strong>who originally broke the World and Paralympic Records during heat one of prelims, took second with a 51.78, while\u00a0Huang Chaowen<\/strong> was third with a 54.29.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s\u00a0Dmytro Vynohradets’\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth overall with a 55.03, ahead of Thailand’s Somchai Doungkaew’s<\/strong>\u00a056.52.<\/p>\n Mexico’s\u00a0Armulfo Castorena\u00a0<\/strong>(57.70) and Greece’s\u00a0Ioannis Kostakis<\/strong> (1:07.48) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n Cristopher Tronco<\/strong> of Mexico was disqualified.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Jin Zhipeng<\/strong> zipped past the previous World and Paralympic Record of 48.49 to finish with a time of 47.54. The previous record was set at the 2008 Beijing Games by Japan’s\u00a0Tatyuki Suzuki<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Miguel Luque<\/strong> of Spain finished second with a time of 49.47, followed closely by Italy’s\u00a0Efrem Morelli<\/strong> and his final time of 49.92.<\/p>\n Former World Record holder Suzuki settled for fourth and a 49.96, while Canada’s\u00a0Jonathan Dieleman\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth with a 50.21.<\/p>\n The Netherlands’\u00a0Michael Schoenmaker<\/strong> (51.88), Australia’s\u00a0Ahmed Kelly<\/strong> (51.90), and Spain’s\u00a0Vicente Gil\u00a0<\/strong>(56.56) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n China’s dominance in the sprint breaststroke events continued into the women’s 50 breaststroke SB3 where\u00a0Cheng Jiao\u00a0<\/strong>took home gold with a sizzling 58.28. Cheng was the only swimmer to post a sub-minute swim.<\/p>\n Mariia Lafina<\/strong> of Ukraine delivered a 1:01.92 for second, while Mexico’s\u00a0Patricia Valle<\/strong> finished third with a 1:02.40.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s\u00a0Olga Sviderska<\/strong> posted a 1:03.20 for fourth, followed by Brazil’s\u00a0Patricia Pereira Dos Santos\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.42) and Italy’s\u00a0Arjola Trimi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.69).<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Deng Yue<\/strong> (1:08.49) and Brazil’s\u00a0Rildene Firmino\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.59) took seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n After setting a new Paralympic Record in the men’s 50 free S3 in prelims, Belarus’\u00a0Ihar Boki<\/strong> dashed his way to yet another Paralympic Record. Boki stopped the clock at a 23.44 to lower the record from this morning’s 23.73 swim, just missing his own World Record of 23.20 from 2015.<\/p>\n The silver medal went to Brazil’s\u00a0Carlos Farrenberg<\/strong> and his time of 24.17, while Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Muzaffar Tursunkhujaev<\/strong> earned bronze with a 24.21 finish.<\/p>\n The Ukrainian duo of\u00a0Iaroslav Denysenko\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Oleksii Fedyna\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close .01 seconds apart with times of 24.41 and 24.42 respectively.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0Braeden Jason<\/strong> (24.61), Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Kirill Pankov<\/strong> (24.63), and Canada’s\u00a0Nicolas Guy Turbide<\/strong> (25.52) finished sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n Anna Stetsenko\u00a0<\/strong>of Ukraine powered to a new World and Paralympic Record in the women’s 50 free S13, stopping the clock at a 27.34. The former World Record was a 27.38 that had stood since 1996 when Germany’s\u00a0Yvonne Hopf\u00a0<\/strong>set it at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Muslima Odilova\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Shokhsanamkhon Toshpulatova<\/strong> delivered a 2-3 finish for the silver and bronze.
