ATLANTA, Georgia, August 27. FIRST, let me start with the obvious: I miss you. I miss you more than I can imagine. I know what you're thinking. I should have remembered that while I was hanging around Long Course for the entire summer. Let's leave that behind us. Fall is here. This is our special time. Let's build something again.<\/p>\n
You're going to have to accept a few things when you take me back. You have to share me with Long Course. It's just the way it has to be. She holds all the major international championship meets. I know you're mad that I spent eight days with her in Rome this summer. Then again, when do you hold meets that are that long? Maybe that's just Long Course showing me how much she cares.<\/p>\n
Besides, you really should be the one to talk. Let's just say I stopped counting how many other people you've been with over the years.<\/p>\n
Set that aside. Let's talk about you and me. I love you so much. I love how close your walls are to each other. I love that kicking 15 meters off the wall gets me 2\/3 of the way. I especially love doing four breaststroke pullouts from the wall on a 100. <\/p>\n
You have always been there for me. I can still remember the first time we met. I had no idea what to do with you. Soon after, it felt like we were having so much fun, and before I knew it we were spending as much as 20 hours a week together.<\/p>\n
I know that there are a lot of people outside of the United States that don't understand our love. Don't worry about them for a minute. We're stronger than that. Besides, some of them have come to love you too, even if they didn't know they would. In fact, I'm kind of jealous of how much attention you've been giving them in the NCAA.<\/p>\n
There I go again. I'm sorry. Listen, all I'm asking for is that you hang out with me a few times in the fall. Let's see where that takes us. Maybe, if you're feeling up to it, we can do the same thing we did last March at the NCAAs. Oh God, this is so hard. I love you. Just call me sometime.<\/p>\n
