To be a member of the National Junior Team, a swimmer must be 18 or under on September 1, 2016. The other selection criteria were revamped this year. The process was explained through a half hour webinar <a href=\"https:\/\/usaswimming.adobeconnect.com\/_a792273714\/p4cqi6s7pdf\/?launcher=false&amp;fcsContent=true&amp;pbMode=normal\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. The team was built with a goal for long term success in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Five swimmers are named to the team in three events.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of women is available <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/women-roster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of men is available <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/men-roster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, USA Swimming named 106 athletes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-announces-106-member-2016-2017-national-team\/\" target=\"_blank\">USA Swimming National Team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Read more from USA Swimming here:<\/h3>\n<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. \u2013 USA Swimming today announced the 65 members of the 2016-17 USA Swimming National Junior Team, honoring many of the nation\u2019s top 18-and-under swimmers for their performances in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The complete National Junior Team roster can be found online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabId=1457&amp;Alias=Rainbow&amp;Lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. National Junior Team members must be age 18 or under on Sept. 1, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Five swimmers earned National Junior Team status in a team-high three events: <b>Margaret Aroesty<\/b> (Long Beach, N.Y.\/Long Island Aquatic Club), <b>Mallory Comerford<\/b> (Kalamazoo, Mich.\/University of Louisville), <b>Cameron Craig<\/b> (Monroe, Mich.\/Club Wolverine), <b>Isabel Ivey<\/b> (Gainesville, Fla.\/Gator Swim Club) and<b>Maxime Rooney<\/b> (Livermore, Calif.\/Pleasanton Seahawks).<\/p>\n<p>2016-17 National Junior Team by the Numbers:<br \/>\n\u00b7 65 swimmers named to the National Junior Team<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 27 states represented; Florida tops the list with seven selections<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 50-plus USA Swimming clubs represented, including seven clubs with multiple honorees<\/p>\n<p>New selection procedures for the National Junior Team were unveiled earlier this year and can be found online at usaswimming.org. A webinar outlining the selection procedures is also available here.<\/p>\n<p>Open water National Junior Team members qualified by placing among the top six 18-and-under finishers at the 2016 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the National Junior Team, the 18 &amp; Under World 100 will be announced next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This afternoon USA Swimming announced the 2016-2017 National Junior Team.
