Azerbaijan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Raman<\/strong> <strong>Salei<\/strong> delivered a time of 4:13.83 for a close fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s<strong>\u00a0Braedan\u00a0<strong>Jason\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>(4:15.59), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Danylo Chufarov<\/strong> (4:17.39), Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Templeton\u00a0<\/strong>(4:19.11), and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomaz Matera\u00a0<\/strong>(4:19.85) complete the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free&#8211;S13<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Meyers<\/strong> of the USA led a tight field in prelims of the women&#8217;s 400 free, turning in a time of 4:29.97 to claim the top seed for tonight.\u00a0<strong>Anna Stetsenko<\/strong>\u00a0of Ukraine posted a close 4:31.02 for the second place seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naomi Maike Schnittger\u00a0<\/strong>of Germany posted a 4:43.59 for third, followed closely by Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alessia Berra\u00a0<\/strong>(4:46.39) and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ariadna Edo Beltran\u00a0<\/strong>(4:46.78).<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katja Dedekind\u00a0<\/strong>(4:52.23), Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abby Kane\u00a0<\/strong>(4:52.35), and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marta Maria Gomez Battelli\u00a0<\/strong>(4:52.36) were sixth through eighth respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 150 IM&#8211;SM4<\/h3>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cameron Leslie<\/strong> finished first overall in prelims of the men&#8217;s 150-meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:29.36.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top three qualifiers was\u00a0<strong>Jin Zhipeng<\/strong> of China with a 2:32.86 and\u00a0<strong>Jonas Larsen<\/strong> of Denmark with a 2:35.95.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Efrem Morelli\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth overall in prelims with a 2:41.32, followed by Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Takayuki Suzuki<\/strong> and his time of 2:43.15.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jan Povysil\u00a0<\/strong>(2:45.72), Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gustavo Sanchez Martinez\u00a0<\/strong>(2:46.34), and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miguel Luque<\/strong> (2:47.33) finished sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 150 IM&#8211;SM4<\/h3>\n<p>The record books continued to be re-written with\u00a0<strong>Cheng Jiao<\/strong> of China turned in a new Paralympic and World Record in the women&#8217;s 150-meter IM. Cheng delivered a sizzling 2:47.57 to sneak past the former World Record of 2:47.84 set in 2008 by Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Karina Lauridsen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chinese teammate\u00a0<strong>Deng Yue\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 2:58.54, while the Ukrainian duo of\u00a0<strong>Mariia Lafina<\/strong> (2:54.27) and\u00a0<strong>Olga Sviderska\u00a0<\/strong>(2:58.72) were second and fourth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Also swimming in tonight&#8217;s finals are Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arjola Trimi\u00a0<\/strong>(3:02.37), Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nely Miranda Herrera\u00a0<\/strong>(3:09.89), Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Karolina Hamer\u00a0<\/strong>(3:21.26), and Kazakhstan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zulfiya Gabidullina\u00a0<\/strong>(3:24.81).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bradley Snyder<\/strong> of the USA snagged the top qualifying seed in the men&#8217;s 50 free with a 26.06 finish. A trio of sub-27 second swims followed him with China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yang Bozun<\/strong> leading the charge at 26.36. South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hendri Herbst<\/strong> and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keiichi Kimura<\/strong> kept it close with times of 26.95 and 26.99 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Hryohry Zudzilau<\/strong> was fifth overall with a 27.11, followed by Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oleksandr Mashchenko<\/strong> (27.28).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miroslav Smrcka<\/strong> of the Czech Republic finished seventh with a 27.48, ahead of Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Viktor Smyrnov&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>27.62.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Li Guizhi<\/strong> of China flirted with a new World Record in the women&#8217;s 50 free S11 class posting a final time of 30.89 to set a new Paralympic Games Record. The current World Record sits at a 30.83.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maja Reichard<\/strong> finished second in prelims with a time of 31.05, followed by New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Fisher&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>31.35.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maryna Piddubna<\/strong> of Ukraine took fourth with a 31.41, ahead of Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cecilia Camellini\u00a0<\/strong>and her time of 31.52.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Liesette Bruinsma<\/strong> was sixth with a 31.52, followed by the Chinese duo of\u00a0<strong>Xie Qing\u00a0<\/strong>(31.95) and\u00a0<strong>Cai Liwen\u00a0<\/strong>(32.86).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly&#8211;S10<\/h3>\n<p>Prelims of the men&#8217;s 100 fly was led by the Ukrainian duo of\u00a0<strong>Denys Dubrov\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Maksym Krypak<\/strong>. Both athletes finished well under the existing World Record of 56.35 to continue re-writing the record books. Dubrov claimed the official World and Paralympic Records with a final 55.29 over Krypak&#8217;s 55.54.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andre Brasil<\/strong> was third in prelims with a 58.27, followed by Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Levecq&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>58.95.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian duo of\u00a0<strong>Nathan Stein\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Alec Elliot\u00a0<\/strong>turned in times of 59.06 and 59.13 for fifth and sixth, while Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Riccardo Menciotti<\/strong> was seventh with a 59.33.<\/p>\n<p>Eighth went to South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Achmat Hassiem<\/strong> (1:00.40).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly&#8211;S10<\/h3>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sophie Pascoe<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in the women&#8217;s 100 fly with a qualifying time of 1:04.37. Her time set a new Paralympic Record and put her within less than two seconds of her own World Record of 1:02.60.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chen Yi\u00a0<\/strong>finished second with a time of 1:08.62, followed by Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isabel Yinghua Hernandez Santos\u00a0<\/strong>at a 1:09.39.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samantha Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada was fourth with a 1:11.12, just ahead of Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oliweia Jablonska&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:11.22 and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Paige Leonhardt&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:11.42.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Chantalle Zuderveld\u00a0<\/strong>(1:12.89) and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alice Tai\u00a0<\/strong>(1:12.98) rounded out the top qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S9<\/h3>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Timothy Disken<\/strong> finished first in prelims of the men&#8217;s 100 free with a qualifying time of 56.73 to be the only athlete under the 57-second mark.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing second in prelims was a tie between Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Braeden Hall<\/strong> and Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tamas Toth<\/strong> after the two both stopped the clock at the 57.14 mark. Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jose Antonio Mari Alcaraz\u00a0<\/strong>delivered a 57.17 for a close fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ruiter Silva<\/strong> was fifth with a time of 57.39, followed closely by Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Federico Morlacchi\u00a0<\/strong>(57.75), Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tamas Sors\u00a0<\/strong>(57.79), and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Takuro Yamada\u00a0<\/strong>(57.84).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free&#8211;S9<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Michelle Konkoly\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA flirted with a new Paralympic Record, finishing a shy .02 seconds off the existing record of 1:01.44 with a time of 1:01.46.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarai Gascon\u00a0<\/strong>led a tight qualifying race of 1:03&#8217;s, turning in a 1:03.36 for the second place seed in tonight&#8217;s final. Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ellie Cole\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.40) and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nuria Marques Soto\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.82) were close behind for third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xu Jialing<\/strong> delivered a time of 1:04.74 for fifth, ahead of the Australian duo of\u00a0<strong>Ashleigh McConnell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.78) and\u00a0<strong>Emily Beecroft\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.90).<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lin Ping\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a 1:05.08.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM6<\/h3>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo<\/strong> snagged the top seed in the men&#8217;s 200 IM prelims with a qualifying time of 2:42.25, followed by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yang Hong<\/strong> and his time of 2:43.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talisson Glock<\/strong> of Brazil posted a 2:44.94 for the third place seed in tonight&#8217;s final, followed by the Chinese duo of\u00a0<strong>Jia Hongguang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:45.45) and\u00a0<strong>Xu Qing\u00a0<\/strong>(2:53.88).<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yoav Valinsky<\/strong> took sixth with a 2:57.68, while Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Iaroslav Semenenko<\/strong> was seventh with a 2:59.51.<\/p>\n<p>Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Panagiotis Christakis<\/strong> qualified eighth with a time of 2:59.64.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 IM&#8211;SM6<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Eleanor Simmonds<\/strong> of Great Britain turned in a new Paralympic Record in prelims of the women&#8217;s 200 IM, setting the new mark at a 3:02.40. Simmonds currently holds the World Record at a 3:00.01 putting her in a good position to challenge that record tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yelyzaveta Mereshko\u00a0<\/strong>finished second with a time of 3:04.71, followed by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Song Lingling<\/strong> with her time of 3:09.93.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tiffany\u00a0Thomas Kane\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia was fourth in prelims with a 3:10.48, ahead of China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lu Dong&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>3:15.62.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sophia Elizabeth Herzog<\/strong> of the USA took sixth with a 3:16.41, while Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Verenz Schott<\/strong> (3:16.63) and Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicole Turner<\/strong> (3:17.09) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Fly&#8211;S7<\/h3>\n<p>The Ukrainian duo of\u00a0<strong>Ievgenii Bogodaiko<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Andriy Kozlenko<\/strong> led prelims of the men&#8217;s 50 fly with times of 30.74 and 31.23 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Levy\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in prelims with a time of 31.35, followed closely by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wang Jingang<\/strong> (31.61) and Colombia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carlos Serrano Zarate\u00a0<\/strong>(31.79).<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pan Shiyun\u00a0<\/strong>took sixth with a 31.85, while Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tobias Pollap\u00a0<\/strong>(32.13) and Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marian Kvasnytsia\u00a0<\/strong>(33.07) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Fly&#8211;S7<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nikita Howarth<\/strong> of New Zealand led prelims of the women&#8217;s 50 fly with a sizzling 35.40. Joining Howarth in the middle lanes will be Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Susannah Rodgers<\/strong> with a 36.02 and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cortney Jordan<\/strong> with a 36.51.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Mehain<\/strong> took fourth with a 36.91, while fifth went to\u00a0<strong>McKenzie Coan&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>37.54.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Judit Rolo Marichal<\/strong> (37.96, Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Veronica Almeida\u00a0<\/strong>(38.95), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tess Routliffe\u00a0<\/strong>(39.26) return as sixth through eighth respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S5<\/h3>\n<p>World Record holder in this event,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Dias\u00a0<\/strong>of Brazil, claimed the top seed in prelims of the men&#8217;s 50 free with a time of 33.55. He was followed cloesly by Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thanh Tung Vo&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>33.87.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roy Perkins<\/strong> of the USA took third with a 34.22, followed by Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sebastian Rodriguez&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>34.96.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>He Shiwei\u00a0<\/strong>(35.41), Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Mullen\u00a0<\/strong>(35.75), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Giovanni Sciaccaluga\u00a0<\/strong>(36.35), and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Clodaoldo Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(36.67) claimed sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free&#8211;S5<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Joana Maria Silva<\/strong> of Brazil dealt with some tough competition from China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zhang Li<\/strong> in prelims of the women&#8217;s 50 free as the two finished .15 seconds apart. Silva claimed the top seed going into tonight&#8217;s finals with a 37.22, followed closely by Zhang&#8217;s 37.37.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Teresa Perales<\/strong> delivered a 37.87 for the third place seed, followed by Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mayumi Narita&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>39.68.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inbal Pezaro<\/strong> of Israel took fifth with a 40.82, just ahead of the Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bela Trebinova\u00a0<\/strong>(41.44).<\/p>\n<p>Norway&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>(41.68) and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anita Fatis\u00a0<\/strong>(41.72) took seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Competition for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games continues into day five with more World Records falling in prelims.
