TYLER Sell, a five-star recruit from the Class of 2010, is the next person featured in this summer&#39;s series of <i>Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings Profiles. Sell hails from Pembroke Pines, Fla., and swims for the <a href=http:\/\/www.swim4comets.com\/Default.aspx target=_blank>Comets Swim Team<\/a> and West Broward High.<\/p>\n<p>Sell maintains his <a href=http:\/\/www.takeyourmarks.com\/swm661?id=7812 target=_blank>profile<\/a> in the <i>Swimming World<\/i> <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/tym target=_blank>College Recruit Rankings<\/a> powered by <i>Take Your Marks<\/i>, and is a distance freestyle specialist.<\/p>\n<p>Sell owns long course meter times of 3:58.03 in the 400 free and 15:36.40 in the 1500 free.  <\/p>\n<p><b>Where and when did you start swimming?<\/b><br \/>\nI swam at the Fort Lauderdale Hall of Fame for a while when I was eight years old. After we moved to Pembroke Pines, I started swimming for the Comets and have been ever since.<\/p>\n<p><b>Who would you name as the most influential person and coach in your swimming career?<\/b><br \/>\nThe most influential person in my swimming career would have to be my dad, for always being there for me through the thick and thin. The most influential coach would undoubtedly be Coach Chris [Anderson], for caring so much about what he does and helping me achieve my full potential.<\/p>\n<p><b>What, to this point, is your best moment in the sport and why?<\/b><br \/>\nI would have to say the proudest moment for me was when I got my first Olympic Trials cut at Ohio State.<\/p>\n<p><b>Walk us through a day of practice:<\/b><br \/>\nSo I wake up at 5:30 in the morning and shuffle over to put in my contacts and dazedly eat a bowl of cereal as I wait for my mom to drive us over. When I get to the pool everyone is so tired they don&#39;t even talk to each other, and it&#39;s the look in their eyes that tells me it doesn&#39;t matter how early you go to sleep, nobody likes waking up as early as swimmers do. <\/p>\n<p>I place my bag down in the locker room and peel off my clothes and walk half naked into the early morning air with my goggles and cap and equipment bag in hand. I choose a lane and throw my stuff down as we all begin to congregate like soldiers, and our eyes wander to the office door, waiting to see our coach&#39;s silhouette appear in the light. <\/p>\n<p>And I&#39;ve come to find the more time that passes the more we begin to loosen up; we might begin to talk for instance. But this quickly dissipates when our gazes draw to our coach walking toward us with his workout in hand. We slip on our goggles and caps and listen drearily for the warm up and begin to jump around to warm the muscles. <\/p>\n<p>I dive in, and at first the shock of the water is terrible, but soon enough you grow used to the temperature, and it evolves into a pretty fun experience. And, all of a sudden, around halfway through the practice all of the misery becomes insignificant, and you find yourself loving the sport you&#39;re in. It&#39;s curious, and something only a swimmer can fully appreciate, I think.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is your favorite set?<\/b><br \/>\nMy favorite set is 6 500s freestyle on descending intervals.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is your least favorite set?<\/b><br \/>\nMy least favorite set is 6 400s IM on descending intervals.<\/p>\n<p> <b>What are your short-term goals?<\/b><br \/>\nMy short term goal is to make the National Junior Team again and then get into a good college.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are your long-term goals?<\/b><br \/>\nMy long term goal is to make the 2012 Olympic Team.<\/p>\n<p><b>What colleges are you interested in so far?<\/b><br \/>\nAuburn, Ohio State, FSU, NCU, Indiana, Florida, just to name a few.<\/p>\n<p><b>What has the recruiting process been like so far, now that you are allowed to be called by coaches?<\/b><br \/>\nI enjoy talking to the coaches who call me; each one is different and it&#39;s fun getting to know them on a personal level.<\/p>\n<p><b>Is there anything else interesting that you&#39;d like our readers to know about you?<\/b><br \/>\nI love anything creative and I plan on studying film and creative writing when I get into college before becoming a director.
