Korea&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Woo Geun Lim\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a 1:35.18 for silver and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pedro Rangel\u00a0<\/strong>claimed bronze in 1:37.84.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marco Maria Dolfin\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 1:38.27 and fifth went to Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Roberto Rodriguez\u00a0<\/strong>(1:39.06).<\/p>\n<p>Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Georgios Sfaltos\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.05), Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thahn Hai Do\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.31), and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Adriano De Lima\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.18) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100m Breaststroke SB5<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Yelyzaveta Mereshko <\/strong>jumped out to a half second lead at the 50 and held off her Ukrainian teammate to claim gold in 1:41.63.\u00a0<strong>Viktoriia Savtsova\u00a0<\/strong>took silver with a 1:42.14. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lingling Song\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze in 1:45.21.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Verena Schott\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.07) and Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Fanni Illes\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.14) were fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thi Bich Nhu Trinh\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.07) and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emanuela Romano\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.33) rounded out the heat as\u00a0<strong>Sabine Weber-Treiber\u00a0<\/strong>was disqualified.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200m IM SM9<\/h3>\n<p>The podium swimmers had a fairly tight finish this evening. Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Federico Morlacchi\u00a0<\/strong>got to the wall first in 2:16.72 while Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tamas Sors\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:17.33. Bronze went to Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Timothy Disken\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:17.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tamas Toth\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary was fourth (2:19.40). Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Timothy Hodge\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.14) finished fifth and his teammate\u00a0<strong>Brendan Hall\u00a0<\/strong>was disqualified.\u00a0<strong>Cody Bureau\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.63) of the USA and\u00a0<strong>James Crisp\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain\u00a0(2:24.96) finished sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200m IM SM9<\/h3>\n<p>In what was one of the most back and forth and closest races of the week so far, Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nuria Marques Soto\u00a0<\/strong>turned at the halfway mark in 1:10.52. Just behind was Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amy Marren\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:11.84. With a strong breaststroke leg\u00a0<strong>Madeline Scott\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia was tied with Marren with a 50 to go. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ping Lin\u00a0<\/strong>barreled home and held off an also charging\u00a0<strong>Sarai Gascon\u00a0<\/strong>of Spain. Lin touched first in 2:35.64, two tenths ahead of Gascon in 2:35.84. Marren held on for bronze in 2:36.26.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jialing Xu\u00a0<\/strong>finished just off the podium in 2:36.48. Marques Soto stopped the clock in 2:37.30. Scott finished sixth with a 2:37.65.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katarina Roxon\u00a0<\/strong>(2:37.87) and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Claire Cashmore\u00a0<\/strong>(2:38.34) completed the heat, which was only spread by two and a half seconds.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100m Breaststroke SB13<\/h3>\n<p>While the women in the event before had a tight battle, the men in the 100 breaststroke raise the standard. While\u00a0Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oleksii Fedyna\u00a0<\/strong>led by .34 at the halfway mark, he and Uzbekistan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Firdavsbek Musabekov\u00a0<\/strong>both touched the wall in 1:04.94 to tie for gold! Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ihar Boki\u00a0<\/strong>claimed bronze in 1:06.71.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liam Bekric\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia finished fourth (1:08.70). Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guilherme Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.58) then led a strong of 1:13s as Greece&#8217;s <strong>Gerasimos Lignos<\/strong><strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sean Russo\u00a0<\/strong>and Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ivan Salguero Oteiza\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 1:13.68, 1:13.86, and 1:13.95.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100m Breaststroke SB13<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Redfern\u00a0<\/strong>took down the first Paralympic record of the morning. The English woman touched in 1:17.08 in prelims. Tonight, she was over three seconds faster but finished second in 1:13.81. Gold went to\u00a0<strong>Fotimakhon Amilova\u00a0<\/strong>of Uzbekistan in a new Paralympic and World record of 1:12.45.\u00a0American\u00a0<strong>Colleen Young\u00a0<\/strong>held on for bronze in 1:17.02.<\/p>\n<p>Cyprus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Karolina Pelendritou\u00a0<\/strong>(1:17.22) and Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elena Krawzow\u00a0<\/strong>(1:17.46) finished just off the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing sixth through eighth were Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Prue Watt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:18.16), Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Anastasiya Zudzilava\u00a0<\/strong>(1:19.79), and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Martha Ruether\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.48).<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200m Freestyle S14<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Daniel Fox\u00a0<\/strong>turned in the first men\u2019s Paralympic record of the morning with a 1:57.19. While he was faster tonight, it was not quite enough. The top three finishers were under the old mark, but\u00a0<strong>Wai Lok Tang\u00a0<\/strong>of Hong Kong got to the wall first in 1:56.32 after leading start to finish. Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Hamer\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind in 1:56.58 while Fox settled for bronze in 1:56.69.<\/p>\n<p>Iceland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jon Margeir Sverrisson\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 1:57.50. Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Liam Schluter\u00a0<\/strong>was also under two minutes in 1:59.38.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keichi Nakajima\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.61), Korea&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Won Sang Cho\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.83) and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Felipe Vila Real\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.33) completed the heat.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200m Freestyle S14<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bethany Firth\u00a0<\/strong>made it two in a row for downed Paralympic records, stopping the clock in 2:05.96 this morning. Tonight, she was over two seconds faster, moving the mark to 2:06.92. Her British teammate\u00a0<strong>Jessica-Jane Applegate\u00a0<\/strong>won silver in 2:06.92. For bronze\u00a0<strong>Marlou Van Der Kluk\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands finished in 2:10.20.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pernilla Lindberg\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.54), Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michelle Alonso Morales\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.65), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xenia Francesca Palazzo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.21), Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Michelle Franssen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.91), and Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Janina Breuer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:22.16) rounded out tonight&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200m IM SM10<\/h3>\n<p>This morning\u00a0<strong>Denys Dubrov <\/strong>of Ukraine set\u00a0a new Paralympic mark of 2:09.23. Tonight he was a good bit faster and took down the World mark as well, stopping the clock in 2:06.87. His teammates joined him in sweeping the podium.\u00a0<strong>Maksym Krypak\u00a0<\/strong>was also under the old Paralympic record in 2:08.10.\u00a0<strong>Dmytro Vanzenko\u00a0<\/strong>went a 2:10.48 for bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benoit Huot\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada finished fourth in 2:11.85 and the Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Olivier Van de Voort\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 2:13.72.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Paul\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.25), Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Sven Decaesstecker\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.94), and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isaac Bouckley\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.33) also raced tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200m IM SM10<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sophie Pascoe\u00a0<\/strong>of New Zealand then took down both marks in the women&#8217;s event, stopping the clock in 2:24.90. Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aurelie Rivard\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up with a 2:30.03 and Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bianka Pap\u00a0<\/strong>won bronze in 2:31.46.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Lisa Kruger\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 2:32.81 just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Yi Chen\u00a0<\/strong>of China in 2:33.06 and her teammate\u00a0<strong>Chantalle Zijderveld\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:33.10.<\/p>\n<p>Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Harriet Lee\u00a0<\/strong>(2:34.91) and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Meng Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.53) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100m Freestyle S8<\/h3>\n<p>Two Chinese swimmers topped the podium tonight.\u00a0<strong>Yinan Wang\u00a0<\/strong>registered a 56.80 for gold and\u00a0<strong>Maodang Song\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 58.13 for silver. Bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Joseph Craig\u00a0<\/strong>in 58.19. His British teammate\u00a0<strong>Oliver Hynd\u00a0<\/strong>finished just off the podium in 58.85.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guanglong Yang\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 59.17. Also under a minute was Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bohdan Hrynenko\u00a0<\/strong>in 59.74. Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zack Mcallister\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.37) and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luis Armando Andrade Guillen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.90) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100m Freestyle S8<\/h3>\n<p>After a tight morning, things were close again tonight. Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maddison Elliott\u00a0<\/strong>held a slight lead at the 50 and held on to set a Paralympic record of 1:04.73 tonight. Her teammate\u00a0<strong>Lakeisha Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:05.08 for silver. Taking bronze was\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Millward\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain in 1:05.16.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Long\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA finished six tenths off the podium in 1:05.72.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Morgan Bird\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.67) and her teammate\u00a0<strong>Abi Tripp\u00a0<\/strong>(1:10.40) were fifth and seventh. Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cecilia Jeronimo De Araujo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.83) and American\u00a0<strong>Mallory Weggemann\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.80) finished sixth and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100m Breaststroke SB4<\/h3>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Junsheng Li\u00a0<\/strong>edged\u00a0<strong>Daniel Dias\u00a0<\/strong>of Brazil 1:35.96 to 1:36.13 for gold. Colombia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Moises Fuentes Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>out touched Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Antonios Tsapatakis\u00a0<\/strong>1:37.40 to 1:37.69 for bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ricardo Ten\u00a0<\/strong>(1:38.07), Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thanh Trung Nguyen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.67) and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrewa Massussi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.96) followed.\u00a0<strong>Shiwei He\u00a0<\/strong>of China was disqualified.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100m Breaststroke SB4<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>won gold for Norway in 1:44.94. Nearly six seconds behind her was Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Giulia Ghiretti\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:50.58. Another five seconds back was Singapore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rui Si Theresa Goh\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:55.55 for bronze.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Li Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>also broke two minutes in 1:58.13.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Natallia Shavel\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.71), Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Inbal Pezaro\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.02), Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chrysoula Antoniadou\u00a0<\/strong>(2:06.24), and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cuan Yao\u00a0<\/strong>(2:07.64) completed the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200m Freestyle S2<\/h3>\n<p>China\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Liangkang Zou\u00a0<\/strong>set the lone world record of the morning, and took down the Paralympic mark with a 3:49.37. Tonight, his teammate\u00a0<strong>Benying Liu\u00a0<\/strong>got to the wall first in 3:41.54 to take\u00a0both records. While Zou was faster tonight, his 3:42.58 was only good for silver. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Serhii Palamarchuk\u00a0<\/strong>was also under the old marks with a bronze winning 3:43.69.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Yang Yang\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth in 4:11.20. In 4:29.80 Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Roman Bondarenko\u00a0<\/strong>finished fifth.
