Sweden’s\u00a0Karl Forsman\u00a0<\/strong>was the top qualifier this morning in 1:33.47. Korea’s\u00a0Woo Geun Lim\u00a0<\/strong>was a second and a half back in 1:34.86. This third seed went to Mexico’s\u00a0Pedro Rangel<\/strong> (1:37.02). Brazil’s\u00a0Roberto Rodriguez\u00a0<\/strong>(1:39.82) was also under 1:40.00. Coming in fifth exactly on the 1:40 mark was Italy’s\u00a0Marco Maria Dolfin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Greece’s\u00a0Georgios Sfaltos\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.17), Vietnam’s\u00a0Thanh Hai Do\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.96), and Brazil’s\u00a0Adirano De Lim\u00a0<\/strong>(1:45.04) will also race again tonight.<\/p>\n Ukrainian teammates\u00a0Viktoriia Savtsoca\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.03) and\u00a0Yelyzaveta Mereshko\u00a0<\/strong>(1:43.41) were the first two to the wall. China’s\u00a0Lingling Song\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:45.79.<\/p>\n Fanni Illes\u00a0<\/strong>oh Hungary and Germany’s\u00a0Verena Schott\u00a0<\/strong>were also under 1:50 in 1:47.02 and 1:49.38.<\/p>\n Italy’s\u00a0Emanuela Romano\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.90), Vietnam’s\u00a0Thi Bich Nhu Trinh\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.06), and Austria’s\u00a0Sabine Weber-Treiber\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.73) also secured lanes for finals.<\/p>\n In a tight battle,\u00a0Timothy Disken\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia got to the wall ahead of Hungary’s\u00a0Tamas Sors\u00a0<\/strong>as the two finished in 2:18.86 and 2:18.97. Sors’ teammate\u00a0Tamas Toth\u00a0<\/strong>also qualified for the final, taking fourth in 2:20.34. Just ahead of him in third was Italy’s\u00a0Federico Morlacchi\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:20.15.<\/p>\n Australia put two more in the final as\u00a0Brenden Hall\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Timothy Hodge\u00a0<\/strong>posted times of 2:21.74 and 2:22.23.<\/p>\n Britain’s\u00a0James Crisp\u00a0<\/strong>(2:22.72) and the USA’s\u00a0Cody Bureau\u00a0<\/strong>(2:23.95) round out the final.<\/p>\n In one of the closer races of the morning,\u00a0Amy Marren\u00a0<\/strong>of Britain claimed the top seed in 2:37.01. China’s\u00a0Ping Lin\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 2:37.50 and Spain’s\u00a0Sarai Gascon\u00a0<\/strong>registered a 2:37.71 for the third seed.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0Madeleine Scott\u00a0<\/strong>(2:38.04), Canada’s\u00a0Katarina Roxon\u00a0<\/strong>(2:38.75) and Spain’s\u00a0Nuria Marques Soto\u00a0<\/strong>(2:38.85) all finished within a second of each other.<\/p>\n Another second back China’s\u00a0Jialing Xu\u00a0<\/strong>(2:39.61) and Britain’s\u00a0Claire Cashmore\u00a0<\/strong>(2:39.68) will also race again tonight.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s\u00a0Oleksii Fedyna\u00a0<\/strong>led the way this morning with a 1:04.98. Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Firdavsbek Musabekov\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 1:05.38 and the third seed went to\u00a0Ihar Boki\u00a0<\/strong>of Belarus in 1:06.79.<\/p>\n The rest of the field will need big drops tonight to be in medal contention. Australia’s\u00a0Liam Bekric\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.17) and Brazil’s\u00a0Guilherme Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(1:12.85) were fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Spain’s\u00a0Ivan Salguero Oteiza\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.08), Greece’s\u00a0Gerasimos Lignos\u00a0<\/strong>(1:14.25) and Australia’s\u00a0Sean Russo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:14.32) finished sixth through eight.<\/p>\n Rebecca Redfern\u00a0<\/strong>took down the first Paralympic record of the morning. The English woman touched in 1:17.08. Just behind her was\u00a0Elena Krawzow\u00a0<\/strong>of Germany in 1:17.25. The USA’s\u00a0Colleen Young\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:19.10.<\/p>\n Belarus’\u00a0Anastasiya Zudzilava\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 1:20.01. Just behind her were Australia’s\u00a0Prue Watt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.44) and Cyprus’\u00a0Karolina Pelendritou\u00a0<\/strong>(1:20.72).<\/p>\n Uzbekistan’s\u00a0Fotimakhon Amilova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:21.20) and the USA’s\u00a0Martha Ruether\u00a0<\/strong>(1:21.74) also earned second swims.<\/p>\n Daniel Fox\u00a0<\/strong>turned in the first men’s Paralympic record of the morning with a 1:57.19. Just behind the Australian was Great Britain’s\u00a0Thomas Hamer\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:57.31 and Hong Kong’s\u00a0Wai Lok Tang\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:57.44. Fox’s teammate\u00a0Liam Schluter\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.95) should also be in the medal hunt tonight.<\/p>\n Iceland’s\u00a0Jon Margeir\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.01), Japan’s\u00a0Keichi Nakajima\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.38), Korea’s\u00a0Won Sang Cho\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.01), and Brazil’s\u00a0Felipe Vila Real\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.11) also swim again tonight.<\/p>\n Bethany Firth\u00a0<\/strong>made it two in a row for downed Paralympic records, stopping the clock in 2:05.96. Her British teammate\u00a0Jessica-Jane Applegate\u00a0<\/strong>will head to finals in second with a 2:07.95. Sweden’s\u00a0Pernilla Lindberg\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.74) and the Netherlands’\u00a0Marlou Van Der Kulk\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.63) were third and fourth.<\/p>\n Spain’s\u00a0Michelle Alonso Morales\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.42) and Belarus’\u00a0Michelle Franssen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.52) were fifth and sixth. Germany’s\u00a0Janina Bruer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.14) and Italy’s\u00a0Xenia Francesca Palazzo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.25) round out tonight’s final.<\/p>\n Once the record breaking started this morning, it could not be stopped.\u00a0Denys Dubrov\u00a0<\/strong>led a Ukrainian trio in a new Paralympic mark of 2:09.23.\u00a0Maksym Krypak\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.88) and\u00a0Dmytro Vanzenko\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.66) followed. The Netherlands’\u00a0Olivier Van de Voort\u00a0<\/strong>and Canada’s\u00a0Benoit Huot\u00a0<\/strong>also put themselves in medal contention tying in 2:13.98.<\/p>\n South Africa’s\u00a0Kevin Paul\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.09), Canada’s\u00a0Isaac Bouckley\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.67), and Belarus’\u00a0Sven Decaesstecker\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.16) also earned lanes in finals.<\/p>\n Sophie Pascoe\u00a0<\/strong>of New Zealand finished six seconds ahead this morning in 2:27.44. Canad’s\u00a0Aurelie Rivard\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 2:33.88 and the Netherlands’\u00a0Lisa Kruger\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:34.64.<\/p>\n Taking the fourth seed was\u00a0Harriet Lee\u00a0<\/strong>(2:35.90) of Great Britain. The Netherlands’\u00a0Chantalle Zijderveld\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.39) was fifth. Chinese teammates\u00a0Meng Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.64) and\u00a0Yi Chen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:37.33) were sixth and eighth while Hungary’s\u00a0Bianka Pap\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.78) was seventh in prelims.<\/p>\n Two British swimmers and three Chinese made it into tonight’s final. Josef Craig\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 58.73 for the top seed while his British teammate\u00a0Oliver Hynd\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 59.62.\u00a0Yinan Wang<\/strong> (59.03),\u00a0Guanglong Yang\u00a0<\/strong>(59.33) and\u00a0Maodang Song\u00a0<\/strong>(59.68) finished second, third and fifth for China this morning.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s\u00a0Bohdan Hrynenko\u00a0<\/strong>(59.82), Mexico’s\u00a0Luis Armando Andrade Guillen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.12) and Canada’s\u00a0Zack Mcallister\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.36) will also race again tonight.<\/p>\n Jessica Long\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.07) of the USA finished ahead of a pair of Australians,\u00a0Lakeisha Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.45) and\u00a0Maddison Elliott\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.69).\u00a0Stephanie Millward\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain followed in 1:08.24.<\/p>\n Ceciia Jeronimo de Araujo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.73) of Brazil was fifth. Canadians\u00a0Morgan Bird\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.92) and\u00a0Abi Tripp\u00a0<\/strong>(1:10.30) were sixth and seventh. Long’s teammate\u00a0Mallory Weggemann\u00a0<\/strong>snuck into the final in 1:11.17.<\/p>\n Norway’s\u00a0Sarah Louise Rung\u00a0<\/strong>was absolutely dominant, finishing in 1:45.46. Singapore’s\u00a0Rui Si Theresa Goh\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 1:54.50 and Italy’s\u00a0Giulia Ghiretti\u00a0<\/strong>took the third seed in 1:55.58.\u00a0Inbal Pezaro\u00a0<\/strong>from Israel also finished under two minutes in 1:57.28.<\/p>\n Belarus’\u00a0Natallia Shavel\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.11) finished ahead of Chinese teammates\u00a0Li Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.84) and\u00a0Cuan Yao\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.00). Greece’s\u00a0Chrysoula Antoniadou\u00a0<\/strong>(2:06.92) rounds out the final.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Liangkang Zou\u00a0<\/strong>set the lone world record of the morning, and took down the Paralympic mark with a 3:49.37.\u00a0Ukraine’s\u00a0Serhii Palamarchuk\u00a0<\/strong>was just a half second behind him in 3:49.84.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Benying Liu\u00a0<\/strong>(4:00.02) and\u00a0Yang Yang\u00a0<\/strong>(4:13.42) were third and fourth.
