In a tight battle for second his teammate <strong>Anton Kol<\/strong>\u00a0wound up third with a 2:27.45.\u00a0<strong>Francesco Bettella\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy earned silver in 2:27.06.<\/p>\n<p>Greek teammates\u00a0<strong>Christos Tampaxis\u00a0<\/strong>(2:54.23) and\u00a0<strong>Dimitrios Karypidis\u00a0<\/strong>(3:12.73) finished fourth and sixth. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oleksandr Golovko\u00a0<\/strong>(3:03.83) was fifth and Colombia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luis Rojas Osorno\u00a0<\/strong>(3:42.24) touched seventh.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100m Backstroke S2<\/h3>\n<p>This morning\u00a0China&#8217;s<strong> Benying Liu<\/strong> swam a new world record time of 1:50.67. Tonight three swimmers were faster than that mark.\u00a0<strong>Liankang Zou\u00a0<\/strong>of China was first to the wall in 1:45.25 to take down that and the Paralympic record. Liu earned silver in 1:48.29. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Serhii Palamarchuk\u00a0<\/strong>won bronze in 1:49.76.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yang Yang\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 2:00.06. Ukrainian teammates <strong>Ievgen Panibratets\u00a0<\/strong>(2:07.00) and\u00a0<strong>Roman Bondarenko\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.10) were fifth and sixth. Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacek Czeh\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.08) and\u00a0<strong>Aristeidis Makrodimitris\u00a0<\/strong>of Greece (2:22.45) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100m Backstroke S2<\/h3>\n<p>Singapore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pin Xiu Yip\u00a0<\/strong>touched the wall in world record setting fashion, clocking a 2:07.09. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yazhu Feng\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:18.65 for silver. Bronze went to Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Iryna Sotska\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:21.98.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zsanett\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Adami\u00a0<\/strong>edged Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maria Kalpakidou\u00a0<\/strong>3:00.71 to 3:00.72. Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gloria Boccanera\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth with a 3:18.38.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50m Freestyle S7<\/h3>\n<p>Another world record came down as China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shiyun Pan\u00a0<\/strong>touched the wall in 27.35. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ievgenii Bogodaiko\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind, finishing in 27.64 for silver. Colombia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carlos Serrano Zarate\u00a0<\/strong>took bronze in 28.60.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing just off the medal stand was Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Levy\u00a0<\/strong>in 28.68. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jingang Wang\u00a0<\/strong>(29.50) and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Fox\u00a0<\/strong>(29.52) and\u00a0<strong>Michael Jones\u00a0<\/strong>(29.82) also cleared 30. Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tobias Pollap\u00a0<\/strong>(30.04) rounded out the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50m Freestyle S7<\/h3>\n<p>This morning\u00a0<strong>McKenzie Coan<\/strong>\u00a0of the United States set a Paralympic record with a time of 32.57. Tonight, she lowered the mark and earned gold in 32.42. Silver went to Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Denise Grahl\u00a0<\/strong>in 33.16.\u00a0<strong>Susannah Rodgers\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain snuck onto the podium by .07, touching in 33.26.\u00a0<strong>Cortney Jordan\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA finished fourth in 33.33.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians\u00a0<strong>Tess Routliffe\u00a0<\/strong>(33.89) and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Mehain\u00a0<\/strong>(34.57) were fifth and seventh while China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yajing Huang\u00a0<\/strong>(34.12) and\u00a0<strong>Liting Ke\u00a0<\/strong>(35.62) finished sixth and eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50m Butterfly S6<\/h3>\n<p>The Chinese swept the podium tonight.\u00a0<strong>Qing Xu\u00a0<\/strong>touched in Paralympic and World record time of 29.89.\u00a0<strong>Tao Zheng\u00a0<\/strong>also snuck under 30 with a 29.93. Bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Lichao Wang\u00a0<\/strong>in 30.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 31.30 ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kyosuke Oyama\u00a0<\/strong>(31.98) and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sascha Kindred\u00a0<\/strong>(32.91).\u00a0<strong>Nathan Clement\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada out touched Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Talisson Glock\u00a0<\/strong>33.13 to 33.14.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50m Butterfly S6<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ellie Robinson\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain sprinted her way to the top of the podium in 35.58. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oksana Khrul\u00a0<\/strong>(36.45) and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tiffany Thomas Kane\u00a0<\/strong>(36.81) won silver and bronze.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dong Lu\u00a0<\/strong>and Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicole Turner\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 37.06 and 37.31 for fourth and fifth.\u00a0<strong>Ozlem Kaya\u00a0<\/strong>of Turkey (40.60), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Olena Fedota\u00a0<\/strong>(41.58) and Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thi Bich Nhu Trinh\u00a0<\/strong>(42.58) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50m Freestyle S10<\/h3>\n<p>Ukrainian teammates\u00a0<strong>Maksym Krypak\u00a0<\/strong>(23.33) and\u00a0<strong>Denys Dubrov\u00a0<\/strong>(23.75) finished on the podium with gold and bronze medals. Touching between the duo was Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Phelipe Rodrigues\u00a0<\/strong>in 23.56. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Andre Brasil\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth with a 23.78.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians\u00a0<strong>Nathan Stein\u00a0<\/strong>(24.00) and\u00a0<strong>Alec Elliot\u00a0<\/strong>(24.84) were fifth and eighth. Australians\u00a0<strong>Rowan Crothers\u00a0<\/strong>(24.09) and\u00a0<strong>Guy Harrison-Murray\u00a0<\/strong>(24.47) finished sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50m Freestyle S10<\/h3>\n<p>Another Paralympic record was broken this morning by\u00a0<strong>Aurelie Rivard<\/strong> of Canada with a time of 27.83. Rivard lowered that mark tonight, setting a Paralympic and world record of 27.37. Joining her on the podium was New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sophie Pascoe\u00a0<\/strong>in 27.72 and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yi Chen\u00a0<\/strong>in 28.21.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Chantalle Zijderveld\u00a0<\/strong>and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elodie Lorandi\u00a0<\/strong>did not miss by much, finishing in 28.26 and 28.34.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chantal Molenkamp\u00a0<\/strong>(28.93) of the Netherlands,\u00a0<strong>Mariana Ribeiro\u00a0<\/strong>(29.30) of Brazil and Sweden&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lina Watz\u00a0<\/strong>(29.69) completed the heat.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100m Backstroke S11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dmytro Zalevskyi\u00a0<\/strong>of Ukraine won gold in Paralympic and World record time of 1:06.66 tonight. Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wojciech Makowski\u00a0<\/strong>and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brandley Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>tied for silver in 1:08.28.<\/p>\n<p>In fourth was\u00a0<strong>Viktor Smyrnov\u00a0<\/strong>of Ukraine in 1:08.55. His teammate <strong>Oleksandr Mashchenko\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 1:15.85.\u00a0Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Mcclure\u00a0<\/strong>touched fifth in 1:09.11. Chinese teammates\u00a0<strong>Bozun Yang\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.89) and\u00a0<strong>Chenquan Lou\u00a0<\/strong>(1:12.20) were sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100m Backstroke S11<\/h3>\n<p>With a dominant swim and a new Paralympic record, New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Fisher<\/strong> took the top spot for tonight&#8217;s final with a time of 1:18.68. Fisher was even faster tonight, lowering the Paralympic record and taking down the world mark with a 1:17.96.<\/p>\n<p>Earning silver was\u00a0<strong>Liwen Cai<\/strong> of China in 1:20.29. Bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Maja Reichard\u00a0<\/strong>of Sweden after she touched in 1:21.46.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maryna Piddubna\u00a0<\/strong>(1:21.86) and\u00a0<strong>Kateryna Tkachuk\u00a0<\/strong>(1:22.69) followed. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guizhi Li\u00a0<\/strong>(1:22.97), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cecilia Camellini\u00a0<\/strong>(1:23.12), and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chikako Ono\u00a0<\/strong>(1:25.40) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 400m Freestyle S9<\/h3>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brenden Hall\u00a0<\/strong>finished five seconds ahead of the next best swimmer in his heat to take gold in 4:12.73. Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Federico Morlacchi\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 4:17.91 for silver. Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lewis White\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze with a 4:21.38.<\/p>\n<p>White&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Booth\u00a0<\/strong>(4:24.02) finished fifth. In fourth was Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jose Anthonio Mari Alcaraz\u00a0<\/strong>with a 4:23.04.<\/p>\n<p>Croatia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kristijan Vincetic\u00a0<\/strong>(4:26.28), Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Logan Powell\u00a0<\/strong>(4:27.22) and Portugal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Grachat\u00a0<\/strong>(4:27.73) completed the final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400m Freestyle S9<\/h3>\n<p>In the closest race for gold of the night, Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nuria Marques Soto\u00a0<\/strong>came out on top by .02, touching in 4:42.56 to Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ellie Cole\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:42.58. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jialing Xu\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze with a 4:43.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manon Vermarien\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands finished fourth with a 4:53.42 while Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amy Marren\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 4:55.38. Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zsofia Konkoly\u00a0<\/strong>(4:55.77), South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Gray\u00a0<\/strong>(4:59.18) and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Natalie Sims\u00a0<\/strong>(5:04.88) also raced tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100m Butterfly S8<\/h3>\n<p>For the second time tonight, the Chinese swept the podium. At the top was\u00a0<strong>Maodang Song\u00a0<\/strong>in a new Paralympic and World record and the only swimmer under a minute with a 59.19.\u00a0<strong>Haijiao Xu\u00a0<\/strong>took silver in 1:00.08 and bronze went to\u00a0<strong>Guanglong Yang\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:01.18.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charles Rozoy\u00a0<\/strong>finished just off the podium in 1:01.40. Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luis Armando Andrade Guillen \u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.30), Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andreas Onea\u00a0<\/strong>(1:05.23), Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jesse Aungles\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.60), and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evan Austin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.75) completed tonight&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100m Butterfly S8<\/h3>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kateryna Istomina\u00a0<\/strong>set a Paralympic record of 1:09.04 on her way to gold. Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Slater\u00a0<\/strong>edged American\u00a0<strong>Jessica Long\u00a0<\/strong>1:10.32 to 1:10.53 for silver.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese swimmers\u00a0<strong>Weiyuan Lu\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.68) and\u00a0<strong>Xiaoqin Jin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.52) were fourth and fifth. Australians\u00a0<strong>Maddison Elliott\u00a0<\/strong>(1:13.80) and\u00a0<strong>Lakeisha Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:18.99) were sixth and eighth and American\u00a0<strong>Mallory Weggmann\u00a0<\/strong>finished in between them in 1:17.41.<\/p>\n<h3>Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay- 20 Points<\/h3>\n<p>China used a strong backhalf to take hold by seven seconds, finishing in 2:18.03. Silver went to Brazil in 2:25.45 while Ukraine earned bronze with a 2:30.66.<\/p>\n<p>Italy (2:33.16), Greece (2:39.35), and Australia (2:39.92) followed.
