As a refresher, following <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/russia-banned-from-paralympic-games-following-mclaren-report\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russia\u2019s original ban from the Rio Paralympic Games<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the RPC <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/russian-paralympic-committee-appeals-paralympic-ban-to-cas\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">submitted an appeal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Court of Arbitration for Sport <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/cas-upholds-russias-suspension-from-paralympic-games-267-slots-to-be-redistributed\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which was ultimately denied<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, leaving the ban in place. The announcement that they were banned through 2018 was made on their website and included part of the International Paralympic Committee\u2019s (IPC)\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2016-08-30\/russia-now-banned-from-2018-paralympic-winter-games\/7796888\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">press release<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that originally banned them from Rio. Included in the stipulations of the resolution are recognizing the competitors who competed clean\u00a0during those Games by awarding them their rightful medals and places in official Olympic history. While allegations of doping were dismissed at the time of the Games, it became clear following the fall of the Berlin Wall that systematic doping had been in place that aided the East Germans performance. Senator <\/span><b>John Moorlach<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who presented the resolution, said, \u201cMy hope is that this measure sparks real change. Now that we know the truth, how could we ignore the facts any longer? \u00a0The International Olympic Committee has the power to give justice to the dozens of Olympic women swimmers who played by the rules. But he was able to fly by the record in Berlin just four days later, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/vladimir-morozov-lowers-100-im-sc-world-record-at-2016-fina-world-cup-berlin\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking the record down to an impressive 50.30<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that leaves him knocking on the door of being the first man under 50 seconds in the short IM. That also gives <\/span><b>Morozov <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">another $10,000 prize for the world record swim and launched him well ahead of the competition for the World Cup leaderboard. American <\/span><b>Katie Meili <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also had her fair share of records in Berlin, stopping the clock on two American records. The first was in the 100 breaststroke, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2016-fina-world-cup-berlin-day-2-finals-live-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where she stopped the clock in 1:02.92<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to claim the win. The top six men and top six women all earned bonuses at the end of the first cluster based on their rankings on the leaderboard, with <\/span><b>Hosszu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Morozov <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">picking up nice bumps courtesy of their leads. <\/span><b>Hosszu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">worked for her prize, entering all seventeen events contested in Moscow to continue her traditional Iron Lady lineup of events. While she left Moscow with an impressive 7 golds and 11 total medals, she ultimately didn\u2019t need it. The Hungarian Olympic Champion had an astounding almost 200-point lead coming into the meet over <\/span><b>Alia Atkinson, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who wasn\u2019t even competing in Moscow.
