Guy stopped the clock at a 1:42.22 to finish first and improve upon his prelims time of 1:46.81.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Philip Heintz<\/strong> and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Gerrard\u00a0<\/strong>held a tight race for second, finishing .10 seconds apart. Heintz got the better of Gerrard in the final 50 meters, picking up second with a time of 1:44.60 over Gerrard&#8217;s 1:44.70.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hao Yun<\/strong> of China finished fourth overall with a time of 1:46.46, just ahead of Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniil Pasynkov&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>1:46.51.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Brandl\u00a0<\/strong>of Austria delivered a time of 1:47.55 for sixth, followed by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cheng Gong<\/strong> (1:48.94) and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arten Lobuzov<\/strong> (1:48.98).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Breast:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong> of Jamaica continues to threaten the short course World Records in the sprint breaststroke events. In finals of the women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke\u00a0Atkinson threw down a 29.00 to flirt with a sub-29 second swim and\u00a0<strong>Jessica Hardy&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>SC World Record of 28.80, a time which has stood since 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Picking up second was this morning&#8217;s leader\u00a0<strong>Yulia Efimova<\/strong> of Russia. Efimova clocked a 29.08, followed by the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Meili<\/strong> (29.37).<\/p>\n<p>Fellow American\u00a0<strong>Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fourth with a 30.41, just ahead of Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tessa Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>and her time of 30.71.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese duo of\u00a0<strong>Rie Kaneto<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Satomi Suzuki<\/strong> finished sixth and seventh with times of 30.91 and 31.00 respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liz Roberts<\/strong> of the USA completed the top eight with a 31.90 finish.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Breast [UPDATED]:<\/h3>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> clocked a 56.56 to pick up another win in the 100 breaststroke. Van der Burgh will look to secure his third straight win in the event later this week in Moscow&#8211;the final stop of the first cluster of the 2016 FINA World Cup series.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> of Russia turned in a 57.01 to grab second, just ahead of Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Felipe Lima&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>57.07.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marco Koch<\/strong> finished a close fourth with a 57.21, while\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the USA was fifth with a 58.81.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Johannes Dietrich<\/strong> of Austria grabbed sixth with a 59.92, followed by Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hoi Tung Ronald Tsui&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:00.16.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong>, who finished second in this event at last week&#8217;s Paris stop, was disqualified.<\/p>\n<p>**After a review of the race meet officials decided to overturn Prigoda&#8217;s disqualification. This moves Prigoda back to second with a final time of 56.63 and shifts Morozov, Lima, Koch, Andrew, Dietrich, and Tsui down a place.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> of South Africa gave his own SC World Record a scare in the men&#8217;s 100 fly, posting a time of 48.66. Le Clos&#8217; World Record currently sits at a 48.44 from the Doha stop of the 2014 FINA World Cup series.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Adam Barrett<\/strong> posted the only other sub-50 second swim of the evening, stopping the clock at a 49.60 for second.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> of Belarus took third overall with a 50.38, followed by a close race between the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tim Phillips<\/strong> (51.51) and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nic Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(51.73).<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrii Khloptsov<\/strong> (52.62), Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Glauber Silva<\/strong> (52.76), and France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Flavien Aubry\u00a0<\/strong>(52.82) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Back:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> of Hungary claimed her first win of the day with a solid showing in the women&#8217;s 100 back. Hosszu stopped the clock at a 55.60 to post the only sub-56 second swim.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daryna Zevina\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall with a 56.44, followed closely by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>56.58.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daria Ustinova\u00a0<\/strong>of Russia finished fourth overall with a time of 58.34.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doris Eichhorn<\/strong> and Finland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lotta Upanne\u00a0<\/strong>delivered close times of 1:01.53 and 1:01.63 for fifth and sixth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lisa Zaiser<\/strong> (1:02.73) and\u00a0<strong>Jenny Lahl<\/strong> (1:02.97) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Back:<\/h3>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 50 back final proved to be a tight race with the top four finishers posting times within .32 seconds of one another.\u00a0<strong>Pavel Sankovich\u00a0<\/strong>of Belarus led the charge with a final time of 23.14, followed by Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stanislav Donets&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>23.40.<\/p>\n<p>The Aussie duo of\u00a0<strong>Bobby Hurley\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Mitch Larkin<\/strong> posted almost matching times for third and fourth. Hurley got his hand to the wall just before Larkin to stop the clock at a 23.44 over Larkin&#8217;s 23.46.<\/p>\n<p>Brazilian teammates\u00a0<strong>Nelson Silva Junior\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Glauber Silva<\/strong> posted times of 24.19 and 24.69 for fifth and sixth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh was picked up by\u00a0<strong>Ole Braunschewig<\/strong> (25.21), while eighth went to Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrey Zhilkin<\/strong> (25.25).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Fly:<\/h3>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Franziska Hentke<\/strong> led the charge in the women&#8217;s 200 fly, stopping the clock at a 2:04.06 for first.<\/p>\n<p>The race for second was won by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Madelin Groves\u00a0<\/strong>who finished just ahead of China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wang Siqi<\/strong> with a 2:05.30. Wang settled for third and a 2:05.51.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos\u00a0<\/strong>picked up fourth with a 2:06.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marie Brockhaus<\/strong> (2:15.01),\u00a0<strong>Antonia Haupt<\/strong> (2:18.91),\u00a0<strong>Olivia Wrobel<\/strong> (2:23.56), and\u00a0<strong>Kim Salewski\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.27) were fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Philip Heintz<\/strong> of Germany and\u00a0<strong>Hiromasa Fujimori\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan highlighted the final of the men&#8217;s 200 IM with exchanges of the lead. Heintz led throughout the backstroke, but a strong breaststroke leg from Fujimori tipped the cards slightly in his favor. Swimming in front of a home crowd Heintz wasn&#8217;t going down without a fight, pulling ahead in the freestyle leg to finish first with a 1:51.92. Fujimori settled for second with a 1:52.12.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow German\u00a0<strong>Marco Koch\u00a0<\/strong>picked up third overall with a 1:55.98.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> grabbed fourth with a time of 1:57.94, just ahead of Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sergei Kashperskii<\/strong> (1:58.33) and Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sebastian Steffan\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.38).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Gerrard\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia took seventh with a time of 1:59.30, while Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ho Lun Raymond Mak\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a time of 2:01.17.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary claimed her second gold medal of the day in the women&#8217;s 400 free, but not without some stiff competition. Hosszu led at the first 50 meter mark, but fell to third for the following 100 meters behind\u00a0<strong>Shao Yiwen\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Shen Junjie.\u00a0<\/strong>Shao continued to lead the field up until the final 100 meters when Hosszu regained her groove, powering to a finish of 4:02.11.<\/p>\n<p>Shao settled for second and a 4:03.04, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Leah Neale<\/strong> and her time of 4:05.90. Shen faded to fourth with a 4:06.41.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miho Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>picked up fifth with a time of 4:20.96.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lena-Marie Precht<\/strong> (4:27.32),\u00a0<strong>Anne-Helen Schultz<\/strong> (4:34.58), and\u00a0<strong>Kim Salewski<\/strong> (4:36.72) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Free:<\/h3>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>dashed ahead of the competition in finals of the men&#8217;s 50 free, stopping the clock at a 20.79 to be the only athlete under the 21-second mark.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chad le Clos\u00a0<\/strong>of South Africa picked up second with a 21.12, followed by a tie for third between Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrii Govorov\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Proud.\u00a0<\/strong>The duo stopped the clock simultaneously at the 21.15 mark.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth fell to Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura<\/strong> (21.31), who was followed by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guo Wei<\/strong> (21.58).<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> was seventh with a 21.63, while eighth went to the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> (21.96).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Rie Kaneto<\/strong> of Japan continued her reign over the women&#8217;s 200 breaststroke, but not without some competition from Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yulia Efimova.<\/strong> Kaneto led throughout the entire race,\u00a0finishing first with a time of 2:16.27. A strong backhalf from Efimova tracked down the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>and saw Efimova pull close to Kaneto with a final time of 2:16.88.<\/p>\n<p>Larson faded to third and a time of 2:23.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Steiger<\/strong> and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Satomi Suzuki\u00a0<\/strong>delivered almost matching times for fourth and fifth. Steiger stopped the clock at 2:25.40 over Suzuki&#8217;s 2:25.41.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Magali Mouton\u00a0<\/strong>was sixth with a 2:34.34, followed by\u00a0<strong>Emma Louise von Bahder<\/strong> (2:41.52) and\u00a0<strong>Marlene Sandberg\u00a0<\/strong>(2:45.69).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 IM:<\/h3>\n<p>Not long after posting first in the women&#8217;s 400 free Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>was back in the water for the finals of the women&#8217;s 100 IM. Hosszu stopped the clock at a 57.12 for a dominating first place.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing second was the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Meili\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 58.02, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong> (58.51) and Jamaica&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>(59.83).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tessa Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia was fifth with a 1:00.98, followed by Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lisa Zaiser<\/strong> and her time of 1:01.53.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kin Lok Chan<\/strong> (1:02.38) and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miho Takahashi<\/strong> (1:04.55) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Back:<\/h3>\n<p>The Aussie duo of\u00a0<strong>Mitch Larkin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Bobby Hurley\u00a0<\/strong>topped the competition in finals of the men&#8217;s 200 back. Wellbrock clocked a 14:35.79 to take first.<\/p>\n<p>Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jan Micka\u00a0<\/strong>picked up second with a time of 14:40.17, followed by Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yasunari Hirai<\/strong> (14:51.18).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poul Zellmann<\/strong> of Germany finished fourth with a time of 14:57.44, ahead of Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Brandl\u00a0<\/strong>and his time of 15:22.89.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>A. Aboughazala\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed sixth with a 16:56.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Velimir Stjepanovic<\/strong> of Serbia was a no show for the event.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 IM:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> of Hungary concluded the Berlin stop with another gold medal performance, this time in the women&#8217;s 400 IM.
