IN the second part of this exclusive technique series for <i>SwimmingWorld.TV<\/i>, Steve Bultman, head women&#39;s swimming coach at Texas A&#038;M University, describes the steps for effective underwater swimming for freestyle and butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>As demonstrated by Olympian and All-American Triin Aljand, Bultman guides viewers through the process of setting up a great period of underwater dolphin kicking on the start, from hand entry, body angle and body line establishment. Bultman said one of Aljand&#39;s strengths is her turn in the 50 butterfly, in which she maintains speed off the push and maintains a very tight streamline from the hands down to the toes.<\/p>\n<p>This interview appears on page 25 of the August issue of <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i>. <\/p>\n<p>Another key aspect for a great turn\u2014especially in butterfly\u2014is timing the stroke from 10 meters out to judge if you should take an extra stroke.
