A quick breaststroke leg from Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey\u00a0<\/strong>pulled the young Canadian even with Walsh and gave her the opportunity to bypass her on her way to the win.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey stopped the clock at a time of 2:12.39 over Walsh&#8217;s 2:13.14. USA teammate\u00a0<strong>Margaret Aroesty\u00a0<\/strong>posted a close third with a time of 2:13.23, just ahead of Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Darcell&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2:13.40.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Francesca Fitzhenry\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fifth with a time of 2:18.59, while Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miku Kojima<\/strong> was sixth with a 2:18.62.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese teammate\u00a0<strong>Rio Shirai\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh with a 2:20.45, just ahead of Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brenda Diaz Martinez&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:20.60.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 IM was highlighted by tight competition that battled all the way to the finish.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese duo of\u00a0<strong>Juran Mizohata<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Tomoya Takeuchi<\/strong> picked up first and second place with times of 2:01.35 and 2:02.00 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing a close third was the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charlie Swanson\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 2:02.57, followed by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Louis Townsend&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:02.74.<\/p>\n<p>Aussie teammate\u00a0<strong>David Schlicht<\/strong> grabbed fifth with a time of 2:04.30, while Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Josh Zakala\u00a0<\/strong>was sixth with a time of 2:04.77.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brennan Pastorek<\/strong> of the USA finished seventh with a 2:05.00, just ahead of Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alberto Gomez Neria&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:05.90.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>The USA delivered a 1-2 finish in finals of the women&#8217;s 50 free.\u00a0<strong>Anya Marie Goeders\u00a0<\/strong>turned up the heat to post a time of 24.85 to be the only athlete to sneak under the 25-second mark. Teammate\u00a0<strong>Marta Ciesla\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall with a 25.18.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gabrielle Ga&#8217;Amausili\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 25.36, followed closely by Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rebeeca Smith\u00a0<\/strong>and her 25.46.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sayuki Ouchi\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan posted a 25.55 for fifth, while the Australian duo of\u00a0<strong>Gemma Cooney<\/strong> (25.71) and\u00a0<strong>Elli MacKay<\/strong> (25.80) finished sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kayla Sanchez\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a 26.11.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Free FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jack Cartwright<\/strong> of Australia turned in a swift 22.28 to top finals of the men&#8217;s 50 free. He was followed closely to the wall by the American duo of\u00a0<strong>Jack Franzman\u00a0<\/strong>(22.68) and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> (22.77)<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vincent Dai\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 22.81 for fourth, just ahead of Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mehdi Ayoubi&#8217;s<\/strong> 22.85.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tai Long Singh\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada finished sixth overall with a time of 23.45, followed by Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Guillermo Cruz Zuniga&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>23.49.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Tan\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth overall with a 24.18.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA and\u00a0<strong>Kelsey Wog<\/strong> of Canada held a tight race throughout the entirety of the women&#8217;s 200 breaststroke, turning with a hundredth of a second (1:10.45 to 1:10.46) at the 100-meter mark. Bartel turned up the speed in the third 50 to edge a little further ahead of Wog and hold her off at the finish.<\/p>\n<p>Bartel finished first with a time of 2:25.46 to slide past the existing Junior Pan Pacs meet record of 2:25.78 set in 2012 by\u00a0<strong>Kierra Smith<\/strong>. Wog picked up second with a 2:26.51.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Allie Raab<\/strong> finished a close third with a time of 2:26.51.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese duo of\u00a0<strong>Shiouri Asaba<\/strong> (2:29.15) and\u00a0<strong>Sae Saito<\/strong> (2:29.40) were fourth and fifth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Beale<\/strong> turned in a 2:33.25 for sixth, while Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Faith Knelson<\/strong> (2:35.25) and The Bahama&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Margaret Higgs<\/strong> (2:35.60) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brooke Forde<\/strong> highlighted the &#8216;B&#8217; final with a 2:30.49, followed by teammate\u00a0<strong>Margaret Aroesty\u00a0<\/strong>(2:31.18) and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Erine Tsuda<\/strong> (2:31.60).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>A dominating final 50-meters from\u00a0<strong>Ippei Miyamoto<\/strong> surged the young Japanese to victory in the men&#8217;s 200 breaststroke final. Miyamoto&#8217;s strong final 50 pushed him past Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Wilson<\/strong>, who led throughout the first 150 meters of the race, to gold with a 2:10.51. Wilson finished second overall with a 2:11.33.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Roy<\/strong> (2:12.17) and\u00a0<strong>Jacob Montague<\/strong> (2:13.15) finished third and fourth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Australian\u00a0<strong>Daniel Cave<\/strong> finished a close fifth with a 2:13.82, just ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daichi Inagaki&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:14.23.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Telford<\/strong> (2:15.03) and New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eliot Lundon-Moore<\/strong> (2:17.44) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Reece Whitley<\/strong> turned in a sizzling 2:12.58 to top the &#8216;B&#8217; final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 1500 Free:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Joy Field<\/strong> of the USA made her move around the 1,000-meter mark of the 1,500 free, moving ahead of the competition to finish first with a time of 16:14.79.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Olivia Anderson<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 16:18.66, while third was picked up by the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Erica Sullivan<\/strong> and her time of 16:28.75.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian duo of\u00a0<strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> (16:32.04) and\u00a0<strong>Mikayla Messer<\/strong> (16:36.30) finished fourth and fifth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chinatsu Sato\u00a0<\/strong>(16:40.61), Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Natalia Jaspeado<\/strong> (16:53.32), and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aoi Nakamura<\/strong> (17:02.84) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 800 Free:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Robert Finke<\/strong> of the USA bypassed the existing Junior Pan Pacs meet record on his way to gold in the men&#8217;s 800 free. Finke stopped the clock at a 7:55.16 to overturn the former record of 7:56.94 set by\u00a0<strong>Matthew Levings<\/strong> in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate\u00a0<strong>Andrew Abruzzo<\/strong> finished second with the only other sub-8 minute time, stopping the clock at a 7:59.76.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Vincent<\/strong> picked up third with a time of 8:01.86, while Japanese teammates\u00a0<strong>Atsuya Yoshida\u00a0<\/strong>(8:05.28) and\u00a0<strong>Tasuki Shoike<\/strong> (8:08.66) were fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colin Gilbert\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada grabbed sixth with a time of 8:10.05, ahead of teammate\u00a0<strong>Josh Zakala&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>8:12.42.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Medley Relay:<\/h3>\n<p>The majority of the race for first in the women&#8217;s 400 medley relay occurred between the young women of the USA and Canada. Despite a strong backstroke leg from\u00a0<strong>Minna Atherton<\/strong>\u00a0(1:00.33)<strong>,<\/strong> which saw Australia in first at the first exchange, it only took 50 meters for\u00a0<strong>Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.89) of the USA and\u00a0<strong>Kelsey Wog<\/strong>\u00a0of Canada to steal the race away from Australia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong>\u00a0(58.33) of Canada edged ahead of the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eva Merrell<\/strong> (58.97) to give Canada a slight lead going into the final leg of the race, but\u00a0<strong>Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>(54.74) dove in for the USA determined to get the win, stopping the clock at a 4:02.82&#8211;a new Junior Pan Pacs meet record.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;S\u00a0<strong>Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> (), Bartel (1:07.89), Merrell (58.97), and Ivey (54.74) overturned the existing meet record of 4:03.44 set in 2014 by the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Danielle Hanus<\/strong>, Wog, Smith (58.33), and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Darcel<\/strong> (56.36) posted a combined 4:03.42 to also swim beneath the previous meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Atherton&#8217;s strong backstroke leg, the relay team of Atherton (1:00.33),\u00a0<strong>Sarah Beale<\/strong> (1:11.44),\u00a0<strong>Gemma Cooney<\/strong> (58.57), and\u00a0<strong>Julia Hawkins<\/strong> (56.36) finished third overall with a 4:06.70.<\/p>\n<p>Japan was a close fourth at 4:08.11, while New Zealand (4:18.41) and Singapore (4:18.91) finished fifth and sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico was seventh with a time of 4:23.66.<\/p>\n<p>The USA (4:05.98), Canada (4:07.14), Japan (4:12.72), and Singapore (4:22.07) each also had &#8216;B&#8217; relays that swam.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Medley Relay:<\/h3>\n<p>It was a race for second in the final event of the 2016 Junior Pan Pacs Championships as\u00a0<strong>Michael Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>got the USA off to a blistering lead, turning in a split of 54.21.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Montague<\/strong>\u00a0(1:00.49) continued to extend the lead throughout the breaststroke leg, before exchanging with teammate\u00a0<strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong>. Craig continued to build upon the USA&#8217;s lead with a 53.25 split, leaving\u00a0<strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> with a sturdy two-body length lead.<\/p>\n<p>Krueger brought the win home in a final split of 49.97 to stop the clock at a 3:37.92, just missing out on the Junior Pan Pacs meet record of 3:37.67.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tmoya Takeuchi<\/strong> (57.31),\u00a0<strong>Ippei Miyamoto<\/strong> (1:01.57),\u00a0<strong>Nao Horomura\u00a0<\/strong>(52.03), and\u00a0<strong>Juran Mizohata<\/strong> (49.46) held off a strong charge from Australia to take second with a time of 3:40.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leon\u00a0<\/strong><b>Mcallister<\/b> (56.48),\u00a0<strong>Matthew Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.13),\u00a0<strong>Jordan Brunt\u00a0<\/strong>(53.78), and\u00a0<strong>Jack Cartwright<\/strong> (49.14) turned in a combined time of 3:41.53 for third and the bronze medal.<\/p>\n<p>Canada picked up fourth with a time of 3:43.38, while Singapore finished fifth with a time of 3:51.19.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico (3:54.67) and the Bahamas (4:00.37) completed the &#8216;A&#8217; heat.<\/p>\n<p>The USA (3:42.51), Canada (3:47.32), Japan (3:48.67), and Singapore (3:55.15) all had teams compete in the &#8216;B&#8217; relay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along with finals of the fourth and final day of competition at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacs Championships.
