That\u2019s $92,000 in just race winnings available at each stop this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>of Russia and\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary clinched their titles\u00a0as the top male and female performers of\u00a0the 2016 FINA\/Airweave World Cup Series after building upon their medal counts and solidifying their leads at the third and final\u00a0cluster of the series, which featured stops in Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. This marks the first time that Morozov has won the World Cup title, while Hosszu won the title for the fifth straight year.<\/p>\n<p>The series is divided into three &#8220;clusters&#8221; with each containing three meets. Morozov\u00a0maintained his spot atop the men&#8217;s leaderboard by continuing to deliver top showings in the 50 and 100 freestyle events along with the 100 IM. The Russian Olympian added nine gold, two silver, and one bronze to a now fairly extensive collection of medals.<\/p>\n<p>Morozov bagged an additional $66,000 in earnings for the third cluster, along with his $70,000 from the second cluster and his $88,500 from the first cluster. Add in the $100,000 bonus that accompanies winning the World Cup title and Morozov collected a total of $324,500 in prize money.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu continued her heavy race loads in the third cluster, collecting\u00a0a staggering 27 gold, 6 silver, and 1 bronze medals between the three stops. She earned a total of 384\u00a0rankings points between the three stops to win the $50,000 cluster bonus.<\/p>\n<p>In total Hosszu took home $97,000 in earnings from cluster three between race and bonus prizes. Additionally she collected $98,500 at the second cluster and $91,500 from the first cluster, along with the $100,000 bonus from winning the World Cup title. Hosszu concludes the 2016 World Cup Series with $387,000 in earnings.<\/p>\n<p>While Morozov and Hosszu topped the competition with\u00a0overall rankings of 640 and 1197 points respectively, the fight for second and third had much closer margins.\u00a0<strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong>\u00a0maintained his spot at\u00a0second on the men&#8217;s side with 516 points, while <b>Daiya Seto<\/b>\u00a0finished third overall with 330 points. He moved the time from his 50.60 in Paris to a 50.30 at the Berlin stop.<\/li>\n<li>Alia Atkinson dashed to a new World Record in finals of the women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke during the Tokyo stop. Three best performances (according to the FINA Points Table), with the following score:<br \/>\nBest performance: 24 points<br \/>\n2nd best performance: 18 points<br \/>\n3rd best performance: 12 points<br \/>\n\u2013 In case of tie, the second best performance is taken into account (as per the present rules)<\/p>\n<p>2. Medallists in all individual events, with the following score:<br \/>\nGold medal: 12 points<br \/>\nSilver medal: 9 points<br \/>\nBronze medal: 6 points<\/p>\n<p>3. To win cluster points, a swimmer MUST compete on all stops of that cluster.<\/p>\n<p>Overall:<br \/>\n1. Sum all the Cluster Points<br \/>\n\u2013 In case of tie, first is the swimmer with the best position in any of the clusters.<\/p>\n<p>World Record Bonus points:\u00a0For each new World Record, 20 bonus points will be awarded to the swimmer in addition to any ranking points earned at the Event.
