Hit refresh for the latest coverage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scheduled Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 400 Free FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 400 Free FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 Back FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 Back FINAL<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Li Bingjie<\/strong> picked up her third individual gold medal of the meet with a dominant win in the 400 free. Li jumped to an early lead and never let go, stopping the clock at a 4:07.52. With this third gold Li has swept the 200-400-800 free.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Courtney Harnish\u00a0<\/strong>and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ariarne Titmus\u00a0<\/strong>kept a tight race for silver, with Harnish getting her hand to the wall first at the end. Harnish touched in a 4:09.45 over Titmus&#8217; 4:09.81.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian duo of\u00a0<strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Olivia Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>picked up fourth and fifth place respectively with times of 4:11.44 and 4:14.20.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Laura Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>finished close behind with a time of 4:14.29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joy Field\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA touched seventh with a 4:17.08, while China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Liu Zixuan\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 4:20.61.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 400 Free FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 400 free proved to be a tight race with the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Abruzzo<\/strong> coming out on top. Abruzzo battled some strong competition from teammate\u00a0<strong>Trey Freeman<\/strong> and Aussie teammates\u00a0<strong>Jacob Vincent\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Elijah Winnington<\/strong>. Abruzzo turned up the heat in the final 50 meters edge away from the competition and finish first with a 3:53.39.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman picked up second with a time of 3:54.12, followed very closely by Vincent&#8217;s 3:54.14. Winnington picked up fourth place with a time of 3:54.94.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Atsuya Yoshida<\/strong> of Japan grabbed fifth place with a time of 3:55.31, just ahead of Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Colin Gilbert&#8217;s<\/strong> 3:55.96.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian teammate\u00a0<strong>Josh Zakala\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh overall with a time of 3:57.83, while Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tasuki Shoike\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 3:58.83.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>The podium for the women&#8217;s 100 fly came down to the touch as the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eva Merrell,\u00a0<\/strong>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong>, and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gemma Cooney\u00a0<\/strong>powered to the finish in a line. At the touch it was Merrell, stopping the clock at a 58.78 to maintain her spot atop the leaderboard and flirt with the meet record of 58.68 set in 2012 by\u00a0<strong>Noemie Thomas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smith finished a close second with a time of 58.84, while Cooney settled for third and a 58.97.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> picked up fourth with a time of 59.07 to be the only other athlete to post a sub-minute time.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Margaret MacNeil\u00a0<\/strong>finished fifth overall with a time of 1:00.07, followed closely by Singapore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jing Wen Quah<\/strong> (1:00.38) and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Inoha Yamakawa<\/strong> (1:00.41).<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chiharu Iitsuka<\/strong> grabbed eighth with a time of 1:00.45.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong> of the USA led the &#8216;A&#8217; final at the 50-meter mark of the men&#8217;s 100 fly final, but a fast charging\u00a0<strong>Nao Horomura\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan snuck past him in the final 25-meters for the gold. Horomura stopped the clock at a 52.61 over Craig&#8217;s 52.63.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noah Lense<\/strong> of the USA turned in a 53.35 for third, followed closely by Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Brunt<\/strong> (53.84) and Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yuya\u00a0Nakamoto\u00a0<\/strong>(53.87).<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexandre Perrault\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth overall with a 54.07, while Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Whale\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed seventh with a 54.60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dylan Koo<\/strong> of Singapore rounded out the top eight with a time of 54.94.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Back FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Minna Atherton\u00a0<\/strong>jumped to the lead in the first 50 meters of the women&#8217;s 200 back, before the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lucie Nordmann<\/strong>, the new Junior Pan Pac meet record holder in this event, took over. But keeping up with the two leaders was Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> who made her move in the final 50 meters of the race to sneak past Atherton and Nordmann for the win.<\/p>\n<p>McKeown stopped the clock at a time of 2:10.01 over Norman&#8217;s 2:10.20. Atherton finished third overall with a final time of 2:10.53.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Erin Voss<\/strong> turned in a time of 2:12.50 for fourth, just ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rio Shirai&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2:12.95.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Boocock\u00a0<\/strong>picked up sixth with a 2:15.08, while Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nagisa Izuhara<\/strong> (2:15.46) and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lauren Crisp\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.52) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Back FINAL:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Michael Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>of the USA jumped to a decisive lead early in the men&#8217;s 200 back and never looked back, powering to an almost two body length lead. Taylor stopped the clock at a 1:57.39, just shy of the Junior Pan Pac meet record of 1:57.20.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate\u00a0<strong>Austin Katz <\/strong>delivered\u00a0a strong second place with a time of 1:59.91 to be the only other athlete under the 2-minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Mac<\/strong> turned in a 2:02.15 for third, while Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andy Song\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth with a 2:02.97.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Leon Macallister\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fifth place with a time of 2:03.11, ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shuto Endo&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:04.85.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Zakala\u00a0<\/strong>of Canada picked up seventh with a 2:04.95 and eighth went to Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bradley Woodward<\/strong> (2:05.03).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay:<\/h3>\n<p>The two teams from North America battled till the very finish for first in the women&#8217;s 400 free relay. Canada and the USA exchanged the lead multiple times, never straying far away from the other, until a strong final leg from\u00a0<strong>Isabel Ivey<\/strong> of the USA finished the race. The USA&#8217;s \u00a0<strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (55.81),\u00a0<strong>Lauren Pitzer<\/strong> (56.09),\u00a0<strong>Eva Merrell\u00a0<\/strong>(55.79), and Ivey (55.01) posted a final time of 3:42.70 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s relay team of\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong> (55.41),\u00a0<strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> (55.82),\u00a0<strong>Kayla Sanchez\u00a0<\/strong>(56.34), and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Darcel\u00a0<\/strong>(55.27) were a close second at 3:42.84.<\/p>\n<p>The race for third occurred between Australia and Japan, with Australia pulling ahead in the back half of the race to claim the bronze.\u00a0<strong>Minna Atherton<\/strong> (56.70),\u00a0<strong>Gemma Cooney<\/strong> (55.78),\u00a0<strong>Kirrily Siebenhausen<\/strong> (56.73), and\u00a0<strong>Julia Hawkins<\/strong> (56.16) stopped the clock at a time of 3:45.37.<\/p>\n<p>Japan settled for fourth and a time of 3:46.84, just ahead of China&#8217;s 3:48.20.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore (3:53.40), New Zealand (3:54.87), and Mexico (4:00.84) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>The USA, Canada, Japan, and Singapore each had &#8216;B&#8217; relays that swam as well, with the USA (3:46.48) and Canada (3:49.99) that would have placed in the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay:<\/h3>\n<p>The relay battles continued into the men&#8217;s 400 free relay, this time occurring between the USA and Australia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Cartwright\u00a0<\/strong>got Australia off to a sizzling start, splitting a 49.15 over the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Hoffer&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>50.17.\u00a0<strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> dove in for the USA and succeeded in closing the gap with a split of 49.14, but it wasn&#8217;t enough to quite catch\u00a0<strong>Louis Townsend<\/strong> (49.72), sending\u00a0<strong>Elijah Winnington<\/strong> in with the lead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cameron Craig<\/strong> gained on Winnington, eventually over taking him with the fastest split of the evening&#8211;a 49.06 over Winnington&#8217;s 50.55.\u00a0<strong>Matthew Wilson<\/strong> (50.23) put forth a valiant effort to try to catch\u00a0<strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong>, but the young American powered to a 49.30 split and a final time of 3:17.67 for the USA.<\/p>\n<p>The USA&#8217;s combined time of 3:17.67 overturned the existing Junior Pan Pac meet record of 3:18.67 set in 2012 by the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Australia finished second overall with a time of 3:19.65.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian relay of\u00a0<strong>Mehdi Ayoubi<\/strong> (50.76),\u00a0<strong>Ian MacKinnon\u00a0<\/strong>(50.53),\u00a0<strong>Alexandre Perrault\u00a0<\/strong>(51.02), and\u00a0<strong>Stephen Calkins<\/strong> (50.03) finished third with a time of 3:22.34.<\/p>\n<p>Japan turned in a combined 3:25.16 for fourth, just ahead of Mexico&#8217;s 3:29.69.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore (3:30.35) and the Bahamas (3:33.06) rounded out the top finishers.<\/p>\n<p>The USA (3:25.28), Canada (3:27.26), Japan (3:32.65), and Singapore (3:35.16) also had &#8216;B&#8217; relays that swam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along live with day three finals of the 2016 Junior Pan Pacs Championships.
