{"id":219413,"date":"2016-08-25T11:36:14","date_gmt":"2016-08-25T18:36:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=219413"},"modified":"2016-08-25T11:36:14","modified_gmt":"2016-08-25T18:36:14","slug":"ryan-lochte-summoned-for-hearing-by-rio-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-lochte-summoned-for-hearing-by-rio-police\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan Lochte Summoned For Hearing By Rio Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-lochte-loses-endorsements-with-syneron-candela-and-airweave-issues-apology-to-speedo\/\" target=\"_blank\">dropped by all four<\/a> of his biggest corporate sponsors earlier this week,\u00a0<strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> has been summoned by the Rio police to testify in Brazil as part of the investigation into the claims made the night of the alleged robbery.<\/p>\n<p>Reports from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/2016\/08\/25\/ryan-lochte-to-be-summoned-to-testify-in-brazil-over-gas-station-skirmish.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fox News\u00a0<\/a>cite Detective\u00a0<strong>Clemente Braune\u00a0<\/strong>stating that the prosecutors want Lochte to testify in from of Brazil&#8217;s Justice Department, however, there is no penalty if he fails to appear. If he chooses not to appear he will be unable to &#8220;engage in plea negotiations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Having returned to the United State before receiving notice to stay, Lochte has not participated in the police investigations since his original report.
