The men’s 10 meter preliminaries will occur today at 3:00pm. Men’s platform\u00a0is going to be a major clash between Olympic veterans and rookies, athletes on a quest for redemption and those just trying to prove themselves.<\/p>\n

In 2012, the men’s ten-meter results came down to the last dive.\u00a0China\u2019s three-time world champion Qui Bo\u00a0<\/strong>had finished prelims and semifinals in first place. In finals, American David Boudia<\/strong> was trailing close behind him. In the the final round, Qui and Boudia performed the same dive, a back two and a half with two and a half twists. The dive has a degree of difficulty of 3.6, and Boudia took home the gold by less than two points. These titans are ready battle it out once more.<\/p>\n

Tom Daly<\/strong>, the bronze medalist from London is returning as well. In 2008 Daly was Britain’s youngest athlete to compete in the Olympics, and he was the youngest diver to make the finals. He’s heading into competition in Rio with two previous Olympics and countless international and national competitions under his belt.<\/p>\n

Boudia and Daly have both already won medals in synchronized platform last week. Daly and his partner Daniel Goodfellow<\/strong> won the bronze medal while Boudia and Steele Johnson<\/strong> took silver.<\/p>\n

When not competing together, Boudia and Johnson are often considered some of each other’s biggest competition.<\/p>\n

Johnson and China’s\u00a0Chen Aisen<\/strong>\u00a0will both be competing in their first Olympics. Although they are new to the Olympic stage, neither man can be discounted for a potential spot on the podium.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be a close and exciting competing, with standings likely to change every round as individuals pull ahead or fall behind. With only three medals to give, men’s platform is going to be intense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
