{"id":218848,"date":"2016-08-18T12:12:46","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T19:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=218848"},"modified":"2016-08-19T08:46:59","modified_gmt":"2016-08-19T15:46:59","slug":"maya-dirado-announces-temporary-career-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maya-dirado-announces-temporary-career-delay\/","title":{"rendered":"Maya DiRado Announces Temporary Career Delay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coming off of a breakout performance at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, now four-time Olympic medalist\u00a0<strong>Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>has announced that she will delay her career at McKinsey &amp; Co. to embark on a post-Olympic tour complete with media, speaking, and endorsements.<\/p>\n<p>The four month delay was actually suggested by McKinsey according to\u00a0<strong>Jeannie Goldstein<\/strong>, a partner at Chicago Sports &amp; Entertainment Partners, which is DiRado&#8217;s agency.<\/p>\n<p>Goldstein commented that, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;they [McKinsey] actually reached out to her and said we want to offer you support in continuing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This isn&#8217;t a long-term thing.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Originally DiRado had planned on retiring as soon as she returned back from the Olympic Games and would begin work on September 9th in Atlanta as a business analyst.<\/p>\n<p>Goldstein continued, expressing &#8220;I don&#8217;t think she realized the impact, the groundswell back in the U.S. because they&#8217;re kind of in that [Rio] bubble.
